Firefly's Fillion Moves into Castle

Was a great season opener, can't wait to see how everything plays out, especially with the last two closing shots of Castle in his apt and Beckett's last line. I hope Beckett's mom's murder case will be resolved this season instead of dragging it out to a Season 5.

Didn't really like the new police captain - Montgomery had a likeability to him but the new captain had really none. But I'll withhold judgment for at least a couple more episodes.

Btw, found this interview with Fillion with some bits of info about S4: http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/the-fie...nterview-nathan-fillion-talks-castle-season-4

Next week's episode looks like a great one too, a return to the funny & light stuff, always love those with Castle's one-liners. I laughed at the one in the preview: "He is now half the man he was" or something like that. :awesome:

I like how this show can be serious one week and then well...not so serious the next.

I would not be too surprised to see an episode revolve around the new captain this season. We saw already episodes devoted around Montgomery and Esposito and a little bit on Ryan (hopefully there is more on Ryan this season). Other then a brief explanation of how she became captain (coming over from IA), we really don't know much about her. She's going to need a significant back story, instead of just being there because they need to fill the role of captain.

Except for the new captain and Lanie, we know a lot about the characters on the show. The last season we got to know a little bit more about Montgomery instead of having him come out of his office every episode asking for updates on the case. And the episode about Esposito was well done, as we learned more about him. I'd expect the new captain to have some sort of back story. It may not be until later in the season though.

Other than dating Esposito and being stunningly hot, we don't know much about Lanie.

This was an awesome Season Premiere and I enjoy having the best show on television back. Man Fillion can do drama just as good as all the other actors out there.

And don't forget Perlmutter! We don't know much about him either. Aside from being insanely awesome, of course. :D

Great season opener! Poor Beckett is really messed up, she heard what Castle said, which I guessed from their exchange in the hospital, didn't need her end scene. However her going back to the shrink shows how it's all fallen apart, her boss and mentor is dead and was not who he seemed to a degree, she loves the man who loves her but doesn't know how to love him back, she was dead for a minute and the sniper is still out there and she is still no closer to solving her mothers death.

The Alexis/Castle scenes were great, as were Esposito and Ryan trying to hold the fort. The only point I felt was rushed was there should have been a scene between mystery man and Castle. Loved Rick having the Castle cave with the Castle computer in it! :D

It was a very somre episode which is why I think they have chosen the perfect episode for epsiode 2! :applaud

Castle 4x02 - "Heroes & Villains" Promo

I just discovered something, the guy that got the envelope from Monty was dressed as a doctor when Castle went to see Beckett in the hospital. He's clearly powerfully connected as he made a call to a congressional office.

In the article below posted by Asr, Fillion mentions this season is going to deal with his long missing father, someone on IMDB suggested that the mystery man could be Castle's Dad.

If that is the case, a reunion with Martha could go either way (serious or humorous)

It would be nice seeing as we have had soooooo much about Becketts family and little about Castle and for a show with the leads name as the name of the show we know small details about his seemingly intricate past.

I don't want Castle's old man to be part of the conspiracy. It would feel forced like when Philip Bauer was behind Palmer's assassination on 24. I'd actually like Rick's father to be completely underwhelming. Just an entirely average working class guy. Basically the opposite of everything that Rick has imagined.

Good season premiere, but naturally things weren't going to be resolved so quickly. I expect it could last the whole season before the storyline is wrapped up, if at all by then.

That was Worf at the end of the episode counselling Beckett. :D

And what we do know about Beckett comes from Martha.

This coming weeks ep is the superhero one, how exactly does it tie-in with Marvel?

The talk was that...

the superhero was going to be an actual Marvel owned character....probably the one they've got having a show being made about, in a 'This is the direction we wanna go in, what do the viewers think' way.

Judging from the promo he's not an existing character even if he has a bit of Daredevil about him, so is this an all new character Marvel are looking to launch as a TV show via Castle?

Daredevil and Spidey references already. Castle has Avengers #1.

And Deadpool, and Black Panther!

And Iron Man!

All the Marvel references are pretty cool but of course a Dark Knight one as well.

The best thing is, Fillion is a massive geek in real life, so it's very awesome. I guarantee you if ABC had gotten a deal with DC instead of Marvel, Fillion would pull out his Green Lantern knowledge skillz. Nathan Fillion being a massive geek helps sell the concept of Castle being a massive geek. It fits so well.

Also, the tie-in to the Castle graphic novel was FREAKING. BRILLIANT. It worked so well in the context of the show. Very clever product placement there.

But I noticed one error: He had an Iron Man comic on there, and didn't mention it, and he wasn't mild-mannered, and I don't think Deadpool was driven by a parent's death, as far as I know.

Also, the costume design for the comic version of the killer's suit is FREAKING GREAT!

They even referenced the real-life superhero thing, too.

A great episode overall.

ABC didn't get a DEAL with Marvel, they are owned by Disney just like Marvel.

Agreed.

He wasn't driven by the death of a parent but I believe Deadpool has the death of a LOVED ONE, which is what Beckett specified, that drives him. The Mild mannered comment i think extends to the beat writer because in all honesty he had just as much to do with the vigilante heroics as the female officer.

Totally agree this was a great episode on every beat of the story.

Didn't catch the very end. I know they confronted the writer but fell asleep during the commercial. What happened?

Well, a fun episode, but I have to admit I did cringe sometimes. It almost played up the whole geeky comic nerd stereotype, reinforcing that for anyone else watching who is not into comics. There were some cool references though. I was expecting a showdown with the villain dressed as Lone Vengeance in the end though, not just a showdown across an interogation table.

It was a fun episode. I do with it had been DC Comics (because seriously, it looked like Nightwing in a mask to me!), But then I remembered which station it was on :o and ended up having to explain the corporate connection to my brother who was watching with me.

I don't like that they just 'went' with the stereotype, but, whatcha gonna do? It was enjoyable to watch. But all in all, that's about it for this show. The character development with him and his daughter was nice.
