Firefly's Fillion Moves into Castle

Yeah, I heard that bit, but it didn't really say what happened - whether it was those "policemen" who owed him, or whether someone else higher up who got people to pose as policemen. How did he arrange that from prison? If it were the Mayor, for example, even if he owes Castle a favour, if Castle were guilty, then why should he get him out like that?

He said he had a good lawyer. I assumed Castle had the Lawyer contact whoever owed him a favor and that's who sent the bogus cops. Not all that hard to swallow really.

And I kind of wished they had made this a two parter but had actaully killed off 3XK. It seemed like a great swan song for that charater. And I find it a little hard to buy that his endgame was always to fake his death again. But I really did enjoy the episode.

The way I figure, I think 3XK was pulling a Xanatos Gambit. Either outcome worked for him. If the cops didn't catch on, he got his revenge on Castle. If they figured it out, he gets to fake his death.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. I think he had multiple plans running at once, and would have been happy with multiple outcomes.

I like how they're turning 3XK into the Moriarty to Castle's Holmes. Actually, 3XK's plan reminded me quite a bit of Mariarty's plan at the end of S2 for the Sherlock BBC series.

Always shoot name brand villains in the head!

The biggest flaw with a plan like the one Castle described is the simple fact that bullets often hit you where you aren't wearing kevlar. Heck it wouldn't even have taken a head shot to finish him off since a bullet wound to the arm or leg could easily be fatal when falling into water.

Well, not only that, but when wearing Kevlar you can still sustain serious injuries, such as bruised or broken ribs. I highly doubt he would have been able to jump up so quickly and ambush Kate, nor would I think he would have been in tip top shape after taking a long dive into the river (and depending on how high that was he could have been injured just by the fall) after getting shot multiple times.

But this is fiction after all.

I always get giddy when Fillion references Firefly, enjoyed tonights two references :D

So this week's Castle was a more fun episode with all the comic con and other sci-fi references. I didn't catch everything that was referenced, but I did see Ghost Rider, Iron Man (well the back of him), Star Trek, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Gattaca, 2001 among others. Also, the captain was Nathan Stark from Eureka, and the inventor was Quark from ST: DS9.

This weeks was as far into comedy as the show has gone but was entertaining for those of us who would get the humour, Captain Max was hilarious. :D

Loved Castle's reaction when they bumped into Alexis and her friends at the convention. :funny:

Can someone make a gif of that face castle made while they were interviewing commander chloe?

I'm just now finding out that Stana Katic did the voice of Talia al Ghul for Arkham City.

I just found out that the last episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes. :D

I must've missed that bit. When did that happen and was it recognisably him?

It happened in the beginning with Castle doing the signing. I didn't recognize Frakes, but learned that it was him after reading more about the episode.

I do remember Frakes saying "I am your number one fan." :oldrazz:

I don't think that turn of phrase was an accident. :o

I love how she geeks out at the fact that she is sitting there with Mark and Kevin.

Ok, so this week's Castle with the documentary camera crew following them around the whole time might've been a nice idea in theory, but it just felt very flat and sterile. I actually never really like episodes where a camera crew is meant to be filming. Not only do you get jerky camera work, but it often feels like actors are breaking the fourth wall. Also, the lack of a musical score made it feel empty and uninteresting. Apart from that, this episode was very average - neither really on the funny side or the serious/ dramatic side but rather mediocre imo.

I much prefer regular episodes.

They didnt do a good job of it. Made a mess of it in fact. There was no clear boundary between the camera crew and the actual show cameras. And if it was all supposed to be the camera crew then they were in some places that im not sure they would have actually been. They broke the fourth wall repeatedly with almost every camera and the Captain was a buffoon this week. Esposito acted like a fool. Easily my least favorite episode of the series.

They tried something and it partly worked for me, I thought the reactions of the characters to the cameras being there delivered some funny moments, but the case suffered for it and the whole crossing the line of sight issue was near constant.

So did anybody watch the Firefly 10th Anniversary Special on Science Channel?

It was great, alot of insight into the show and their final hours. Including a couple plot points for Season 2. One particular plot involving Inara would have been amazing but equally as dark.

Yeah, I loved that special. Made me angry about the show's cancellation all over again though, lol. Joss always likes to take his shows into darker directions in Season 2, so that Inara plot wasn't all that shocking to me, though it did sound brilliant.

Good episode this week, it was kinda like 16 Blocks. I had a feeling Leo was not to be trusted, that actor is always in roles that are more than meets the eye and he just played a similar role in Scandal lol.

Not on again until December 3rd but at last we get a Christmas episode! :D

Yeah, a better episode this week than last, but then almost anything would be. I did suspect that he might be a villain otherwise the whole plot would've been too simple.

Is it me or has Nathan Fillion gained quite a bit of weight

No, I think it's you who has gained a bit of weight. :hehe:

Seriously though, yes he has put on weight throughout the series. He certainly doesn't look like he did in Firefly anymore.
