Firefox & IE 6 both crash. WTF?

So I got a new laptop for Christmas, one of the dinky little micro Acer ones, so that I could take it to school and everything would be good. However, every time I pop open Firefox or IE, they'll stay open for only a few seconds before magically crashing. I'm running XP on it.

Any assistance would be great, because I don't know what to do.

have you tried any other browsers? ie: Opera?

do you have any controls set up that would prevent you from using the internet and stuff? that could cause them to shut down?

It's a brand new computer, I don't know what settings I could have on that would cause them to crash. All my firewalls and stuff are set up just like on my home desktop. I'm going to give Chrome a try and see how that works.

Honestly...I would reload.
I never use the OS that was on the PC when I first get it.

I just went with Google Chrome and that seems to be working just fine.
