First Look at Loki and Odin

"Norse myth" my arse!

In any case, I think they took the comicbook style a little too literal here.

Oy vay...

Another perfect example that fanboys don't really know what they want.

Ten months from now, when Branagh's epic masterpiece THOR is released to acclaim from fans and critics alike, this is the type of thread that we'll look back on and laugh about how we fretted over a couple of early still photos... :woot:

Maybe the costume designers who worked on Gladiator should have worked on Thor. But I'm still happy with this. I'm sure it would look better on film.

Nice. This shot gives a better look at the detail of the cape and cloth on the arms. It's hard to tell how reflective the armor is. In some places it looks like your typical superhero rubber—in other places more glossy. The design is very busy, but not in bad TDK suit way. Overall very cool. Very "Journey into Mystery", only with the colors toned down.

It's weird... because we were promised LOTR... AND a CBM. What the hell DO we want? You can't choose between those two if you are a fanboy... Obviously the chain mail are worn leather weren't going to cut it for Gods, but I still expected rugged. Those look like space suits. Maybe that's the point. I just don't know what to think, and I have nothing to drink unlike Ms. Potts.

Well if that's true I'd be inclined to think that putting away your hammer is also a sign of respect. I'd like to see them always wearing their helmets personally because I think they as much a sign of their status than anything else. I mean, Thor is walking around with a hammer in armor, would a helmet really be out of place? We'll see I guess.

True but people have already posted a good number of pics from the comics and a lot of the armor they were does look sort of space age almost.

Helmets or not, THIS is the Kirby comic come to life that I've been dying to see...I think Odin looks the most impressive tbh. These characters will look way more impressive on film...

Thats a terrible photo. I'm not saying that the movie won't be good but that photo is beyond cheesy and not the good kind of cheesy. Depending on reviews I'm still going to give the movie a chance but color me shocked they released such a goofy looking photo.

I was a little surprised at how Odin looks... smiling into thin air...

but Thor and Loki seems awesome :)

I'm loving the costumes, can't wait to see Thor and Loki's helmets to complete it all.

I'm pretty much in agreement here.

Costumes remind me of the Prince Vultan character from the 1980 Flash Gordon, plus the fact that they are forcing 3D on the film has me worried

Your problem with a film adaptation of the Thor comics is that it looks like the Thor comics?

I never said that, you read it wrong. What I meant was it's an updated look OF the comics (if that makes any sense)

it's hard to word it how I want it to sound. (They took their looks from the comics/cartoons and updated them, gave them a more futuristic look) and that's not what I was expecting nor wanted

I think that might work

Yeah I hope to heck it's not just 3D.
Sure we had a shot of a HUGE camera, and I can see the use in both Thor and First Avenger, but after the fact 3D is normally bad. Like some Colorized Black and White films.

Looks awesome! I hope they don't go over the top with the sci-fi though. Keep it a fantasy film. I want to see Ice Giants not highly advanced robots shooting ice.

But, gee, when I saw Loki I almost died of happiness.

Verdict: Absolutely splendid, I am greatly satisfied by what I see.

I don't like the look of it (In Umpa Lumpa Voice)

But will probably change my mind when the trailer is released and I see everything in action.

Yep looking forward to trailer ... May be the only way to know if this movie is worth the hype

Hmmm I'm not feeling it. Still can't wait to see footage though.

Not bad. Certainly a nod to "King" Kirby's designs back in the day.

My only complaint is I want to see Thor and Loki in ther helmets and I think Odin's beard should be longer.

ill wait till i see some footage of them in action before i comment on the look. anyway im more curious at what they are looking at. perhaps odin is taking his sons to his chamber where he will enter the odinsleep. or maybe he is showing them the destroyer armor. they could also be looking at that big door from the behind the scenes thing or a portal to midgard. odin could be looking out in to the cosmos, who knows. im still very excited about this movie the most. also heimdall was wearing a helmet in the bts so maybe they did just take off their helmets in the chamber. think of samurais helmets when they fight they wear them, when they are in finished or whatever they remove them.

Well, Iron Man 2 was a tad sloppy, Evans doesn't seem quite right for Cap (compared to Hedlund or even Krasinski), The Cap costume is missing that "something," the lack of pre-Avengers Ant Man is disappointing, and the recasting of Norton is an absolute tragedy that must be somehow reversed (I cried a little bit. No bull.) but I have yet to see anything to indicate that this movie will be anything other than mindblowingly awesome. And if nothing else, can't we be happy that Kuro is happy?

Well people said Iron Man armour won't look good in live action.... but turned out quite right.

Thor will turn out a lil cartoony no doubt but at least its comic accurate
