Transformers FIRST TOY IMAGES - Optimus Prime and Starscream "Protoforms"...

Why do I have a feeling that the Megatron toy is going to be hazardous? I can just picture cutting my fingers trying to transform him :csad:.

This is actually true for the whole Transformers franchise. Why exactly do they need to disguise themselves on their home planet anyway?? To keep their wives from knowing they were cheating on them??

it's a disguise from eachother too. the decepticons don't know what every autobots' altmode is and vice versa

I thought the robots in disguise theme only applied when they went to earth. It was never explained on Cybertron. Although it is obvious that not all the robots on Cybertron were Transformers. I remember seeing episodes with nontransforming robots and vehicles in the G1 cartoon.

It was more for warfare then anything else, but thats like debating human evolution, why do we have 5 fingers? Why does our hair stand up when we are cold? Why is Don Murphy a pain in the ass? Just because :whatever:

Notice:

They are holding guns. No morphed hand to this point...

I have a feeling should this movie do well and spawn a few sequels, providing they add Prowl to the Autobot roster, there will be a case of mistaken identity between he and Barricade.

Imagine Prowl being a POLICE suv.

I could see this being an actual police vehicle if it weren't for those wheels! Not practical for what the cops would use a truck like this for.

OPTIMUS PRIME

"Summoned by a signal from one of his gravest warriors, Optimus Prime thunders down through the space above Earth and races into battle, his protoform body tracing a fiery path across the sky. Most powerful among the Autobots, he is dedicated to the recovery of the Allspark, and the protection of both humans on Earth and his own people back on Cybertron. Scanning an Earth truck, he morphs into a form that will allow him to hide until the time comes to enter battle against Megatron!"

eh..? what?

I've not noticed anyone even mention this yet, here, or any other thread (Don't let the reg date/post count fool you... I lurk. a lot)

At least they've renamed the "Energon Cube" in the script to something a little more in context.

I'm sure many of you already know this, but I feel a need to flex my Geek-muscles on this. According to G1 cartoon-canon, when the Quintessons created the Decepticons (as military hardware robots) and the Autobots (as robots to help with comsumer goods), neither of them could transform. Transforming technology arose, during the civil war, out of the Autobots' need for stealth, since they couldn't beat the Decepticons' firepower and natural fighting skills. The Decepticons also developed transforming tech., as well as the ability to fly in robot mode, after the Autobots, but well before the two sides arrived on Earth.

All of the pics here should be. Merge thread.

Unless you can merge the whole thing at the end of the other thread it'll probably cause a mess. Not that the other one reads like a novel, but still.

Interesting. I never felt comfortable with the Quintessons being the creators of the autobots and decepticons after seeing them in Transformers:The Horrible Transformers movie. I thought they were motivated simply to torture and kill anyone who came across their path.

Well they made the Sharkticons, didn't they?

Well the Quints were not the creators in the comics...I much prefer the Primus origin in the comics to that of the cartoon.

Maybe I didn't bold the quote enough for you to notice...

Saying it's the Allspark makes far more sense.

(sadly according to onset photos it still LOOKS like an energon cube though :/)

unless it was just in a case

The shape makes no difference. It was always a cube but they simply changed the name.

I wonder if they're going to add the shimmery cool psychedlic effect to the cube in CGI. That would look cool... but at the same time be kinda stupid considering it's not an "Energon Cube".... but will look like one.

They'd have to, otherwise it looks like an overgrown Hellraiser cube.
