Fixing Punisher:War Zone

When I saw the official trailers, as opposed to the first teaser, I said, "Oh crap."
It looked exactly like Burton/Schumacher had designed each and every set. Too much darned neon lighting (in a CHURCH of all things!!) for anyone to have anything other than bad Batman movie flashbacks.
I mean, did we NOT learn something with all that crap back n the 90's? I really, really expected a Prince song in the soundtrack.
Jigsaw was too over-the-top. AICN described West's performance as Jigsaw as "channeling Tommy Lee Jones playing Two-Face", and I cannot agree more. Zebra striped suits? Horse hide to cover his face? WTF?
Yeah, have the villian be horribly disfigured, but come one, make it look like it was real.
Stevenson did well in the role. I really got him as a man with absolutely no desire to live, and he did it well. HOwever, he seemed like the only real thing in the otherwise nightmare of a movie...

I would of changed Jigsaw a little bit so he wouldn't remind me of a Dick Tracy villain with his crap dialogue and made his brother less of an idiot. I truly couldn't stand him and felt he should of died a horrible death. I wouldn't have Punisher be able to punch holes into peoples faces that was just to much but otherwise the gore was great. I also wish that it would of been a little longer and that the skull logo would of been a little more noticeable.

I felt Jigsaw and LBJ were too silly and over the top. I would've toned them down. The scene where Jigsaw and LBJ are recruiting gangs for their army is hilariously bad. Ray Stevenson was the best thing about the movie. He really didn't belong in this loud cartoonish world though.

Oh and rewrite the script.

totally agree here,,, LBJ was god awful,, and people who aren't punisher fans agree with that.

That american flag recruiting the army,, was cartoonish to say the least.

Not sure what everyone's problem with neon is. Have you walked through downtown area. Thats whats in the shop signs and windows. Neon! I found the neon to actually create a very dingy scumbag atmosphere.

Everyone is different in this world and if - for some people - this movie is a good movie, don't broke b***s repeating that we are stupid and what movie we are watched.

HEaring about the Punisher swinging from a chandlier (and that awful opening act) was the first thing that tipped me off to the flavor of the film. When I was here under my previous username (Mr. Sinister05, which I mainly used to post comments at very irregular intervals), I complained about this and so did a number of people. Then earlier in 2008 when I heard Lexi Alexander was off the film, I kind of gave up on it.

Now, it seems Ms. Alexander may not have even been the best director in the first place even if she did always get her way. She went to the over the top comic feel as opposed to the over the top gritty/realistic (only pushed over the top) feel that I think could've been done. Sure this would've altered the Max comics (supposed to be realistic but you have to admit Ennis does take liberties fairly frequently) to a slight degree but I think these comics weren't the greatest to begin with (just great compared to Marvels usual stuff).

A good movie does not get resoundingly negative reviews from every legitimate source out there. Even the positive reviews can only refer to the production - certainly not the rotten film.

This was not even close to the Punisher movie I asked for. The only thing in common this had with the comic was having a few character names from the comics. Just because there is blood and gore in a Punisher movie doesn't make it true to the source. It was WAY too over the top for a movie of this nature. it would have been one thing if it was a horror film or Carniove 7. But it wasn't either.

agreed Frank Castle deserves more, but due to 2 awful movies he's never gonna get in the big screen. maybe we'll get to try again in 2020

Went in to my local Wal-Mart today and was suprised to find the War Zone blu-ray available for purchase a week early. Bought it for $24.95.

one of the main problems with this movie is that the pacing is just way off in places.

and the end is a bit of an anti-climax.

jigsaw was basically a weak villian, and LBJ puts up more of a fight than him!

Also, there is nothing wrong with the neon lights, thats how these places actually are, lots of neon lighting and dirty streets.
