I don't think it was 17. I worked on a project for my marketing class on Gerber baby food and the research I did showed that while birth rates were high among teens, there are actually more older woman having kids. 24% of first time mothers are over the age of 30. So I'd say the average has to be in the 20's most likely.

Yeah, but that was because of the unemployed, government supported woman who gave birth to a bajillion babies.

Or maybe it was the average age of premie births.

I don't recall. Point is, the birth rates among teens is higher now than it's ever been. I'd imagine at least 75% of those are also with boyfriends who hop ship and don't want to have anything to do with the girl OR baby.

Responsibility. It's a real nut-shot.
