Iron Man 2 Footage found folks no joke

Downey is definitely the primal force behind these films. Without him, it's just another superhero movie.

Agreed. Personally speaking, I had little interest in Iron Man - or an Iron Man movie - until I read the news that Robert Downey Jr had been cast as Tony Stark. He's one of my favorite actors, one of the finest of his generation, so his name alone sold the film for me.

Rourke is a tremendous actor, and one who will intimidate no matter what his outfit is. I don't think they want to rehash the same old power suit badguy, as we've already been there.

Another good point. People talk about the potential mismatch of Iron Man VS Whiplash, but I look at it in terms of Robert Downey Jr VS Mickey Rourke. That's an acting dream match for me.

I also wonder what (if any) roll the 10 rings will have to play in the next film. I keep feeling that Madarin is lurking in the background behind all this, to be revealed for a 3rd movie.

Over on the "Sam Rockwell Is Justin Hammer" thread, someone made a great observation - like the terrorist leader, like Obidiah Stane, Justin Hammer wears a big ring on his pinky finger. So maybe this could tie into your theory.

I just had to watch that at work with the sound off - still looks amazing.

The main thing I'm hoping for with IM2 is great action scenes.

There was a lot to like about the first movie, but none of its action scenes would even place in the top 15 of comic book movie set pieces.

Overall I just hope there are sequences where I'm no longer saying 'this is pretty cool' and am instead thinking 'wow, this is bloody amazing'. Stuff that goes beyond the whimsical comedy, as good as that is.

Can anyone send me a link to the footage? Is it still online somewhere? :csad:

Better then nothing I suppose. But it could of had more action

I think they could have choose a better villain then whiplash

I dont think iron man had many iconic enemies from the iron man world.
Besides Mandarin I dont think to many stood out.
I always liked the Ghost though.

Always something too complain about eh?

I think you're the only one who doesn't like Rourkelash.

Then again, you just asked in another thread who the hell him and War Machine were.

:whatever:

I can't wait until Ghost comes back to the pages of Iron Man. Though I've not been reading, I hear that since he joined the Thunderbolts under the pen of Andy Diggle, Ghost has become one of the year's breakout characters, with Diggle adding whole new layers of nuance to his character to go with his creepy costume redesign.

As for other standout foes, I'm pretty new to Iron Man comics, but I love what Fraction's done with Madame Masque over the past few issues.

I have to admit, that was the best intro to almost anything I have ever seen. The Office part was my favorite.

And how Conan just ran from Chris Hansen was wonderful.

Haha it deffinetly was. I love conan

Whiplash defeats Tony at the racetrack because he catches him with his pants down without the suit. So that's an easy victory. But we will be able to see the intimidation and the power of Whiplash. Then his technology could progress through the film.

The whips can probably do more than people realize here. Who knows what it could do? Things we probably can't think of until we see it.

I've been wondering how Tony's going to get out of that first confrontation. He looked really injured and helpless in the footage.

Maybe he spared Tony because Whiplash wanted to fight the 'Iron Man' and not just Tony?

Here's a bigger question: How the hell does Whiplash get out of there?

The Ghost is by far my favorite Iron Man villian.. He's so underused tho.. I hope Favreau can work him into a future Iron Man movie.

****ing awesome! I thought Rourke looked goofy, but after seeing him use the whips, I was dead wrong. I only have two words for War Machine......holy ****! :woot: The scene in the donut shop and court room was hilarious.

i agree, the first iron man movie was great, the only thing it lacked was more action, idk, probably because its an origin film, yea i hope there are longer and greater action sequences in the second one
