For the Love of Mutant X!

Go for it. I can head over there and post some interior images of those 2 volumes as well.

I loved this comic so much, I started getting them late but tried to get as many back issues as possible. I still check the old comic bins at various stores to try and find them.
I was sad when they ended it. And I didn't like the ending either.
It felt like they were told that they were getting cancelled and decided to kill off everyone. Sort of like an "I'll show you!" sort of thing.

I loved this series so much I had it personally bound into 2 hardback volumes. I'm going to eventually have it rebound though and change the text on the spine, but it won't be a while. I want to take out the "X-Men Saga" part and just have it "Mutant X"

I sent them to a place called Library Binding Company in Waco Texas. It's $15 per volume provided the book's under 2 inches and doesn't have any special bells and whistles. What you see above is the basic $15 per volume deal. Of course, you can choose the colors of buckram and letters.

So you already had these comics? And you just had them turned into a big book? I was hoping they had released a big collection. I am still missing so much of it that I couldn't do that.
The art in the books looked like fresh pages printed on new glossy paper.

I can't begin to describe how much fun I had with this comic series. I would look forward to each issue I could find. I guess they ran out of ideas or something. Then came Exiles, which has since also lost its appeal for me.
Captain America was one of my favorite characters in that story. It seemed like he just suddenly (for no reason) went insane and had to be killed. And all without explaining who he really was.

I hope more people post images.

Yeah, it's just the normal issues. I think the shine from the flash makes it look glossier than it is.

The lack of explaining Cap was one of two things I was disappointed with in this series. The second was Wolverine turning into a real character and semi-joining the team toward the end. I was glad that this was one book that wasn't tainted by yet another Wolverine appearance, then toward the end here he comes. It annoyed me.

And while they just kinda killed everyone, I kinda liked it. I like survival of the fittest kind of deals and I was hoping a character or two would follow Havoc into the 616 (like X-Man and crew from AoA) but it never happened. I was really hoping for Fallen, Bloodstorm, and Brute. Sadly, it's as if this story was never told.

I thought it was funny that Wizard announced that Mutant X would be cancelled (and featured the cover #28, and I thought it did seem like they were losing steam), and then suddenly they start killing off everyone.

What bugged me was it happened so fast, and in that issue so many characters I liked or cared about were killed within a few pages.

I don't know if that was the plan before they got the word of Marvel pulling Mutant X's plug, because it also seemed sort of rushed.

I wish some of those characters were brought over too, can't believe that Bloodstorm or Fallen or Brute weren't brought over. And before he went crazy and randomly (it seemed) started killing people I wanted Captain America to be crossed over too.
He would have been a fun character. I can't believe that Mutant X wasn't tapped for its potential by Exiles at all.
They could have brought in, say, Captain America was a new member (maybe even to replace Mimic) since he was a mutant too. Or maybe had the Exiles travel to that world.

Anyway, I found lots of pics on the internet. So I will post some soon.

Man I miss that comic, that and Exiles when it first came out, brought such a level of excitement. I looked forward to buying it back then. Just thinking about it brings back that feeling.

IU think my favorite artist of was Cardy Nord:

Nord was definately my favorate artist on the series. His look really fit the feel of the story. I always felt like it lacked a bit once he left. Ron Lim was decent, but his look didn't fit the story quite like Nord's did. I thought his covers were breathtaking.

By the way... I've gotten a few questions on my comic bindings so I updated an old thread I started about it so we don't have to get off topic here. You can find the thread HERE.

Here are some more pics from the comic. Group shots mostly.
I can start posting character shots later.

More tomorrow.

..Just went on a Cary Nord / Busiek shopping spree.

Marvel: "Humberto Ramos rocks but Cary Nord Sucks"

I love Marvel but c'mon.. Joe Q?

Cary Nord should be drawing Avengers.

No .. but they obviously didnt do what they had to do to keep Nord around.

I was drinking a bit last night..not sure my posts make much sense.

Did he leave Marvel? I know he drew some or all of the X-Men Secret Inasion mini, though the coloring kinda killed it. I was excited when I saw that because I just assumed he left.

Well hopefully he'll be doing more for Marvel soon then. I can't afford to read much outside of Marvel so I never get to see people's art beyond their titles.

And by the way... I'm always thrilled to see a nice Barney Stinson quote. Therefor, love the sig. I went out and bought the "Bro Code". It's a hilarious read.

I didn't know it was an actual book. I just watched all of How I Met Your Mother for the first time over the last couple of weeks after people kept telling me how great it was. :)

It came out over christmas. It's a quick but really filling read. My friends and I always quote it and catch ourselves breaking it. Good stuff.

Though we should probably stop running the thread off topic (my fault) :)

Heh, nice.

Anyway, yeah, back to our regularly scheduled Mutant X stuff. :)

I am insanely jealous. :( Thise books looked awesome!

Dude, you gotta go online. I'll just bet you can find the whole series on the cheap here :

http://www.mycomicshop.com/

It's teh best place online I know and I've bought a ton of stuff from them with no hassle whatsoever. This other place is good but more expensive:

http://www.milehighcomics.com/istore/

I'll just bet between the two of them you could complete your run. This series was amazing and well worth the cost of getting what you're missing.

Thanks for the pics artistsean I should have known you would be a fan of this book:D

Was Cary Nord the artist at the beginning of the series? That was my favorite.

Tom Raney was the artist at the beginning of the series. Nord came in later.

You really can see the difference with Nord in how Marvel has chosen to color / Ink his stuff.

The sketches he did there of Mutant X look pretty similiar to his conan stuff..but the end product with the colors/inks looks way different.

The Dark Horse stuff looks better IMO, preserves his "sketchy" quality.
