Superman Returns For those of you who didn't like the movie: Singer attached to any sequel

If Singer is attached to a sequel - will you go see it?

  • No. I think Singer and I are on different pages

  • Yes, I want to give him a second chance.

Only if its a restart. This mess is not the way to return a hero to audiences by screwing up continuity with a sequel that's not really a sequel and confusing the hell out of everyone, lol.

Nolan got it right. That's what I'd like to see.

Look at how he has the door wide open for him to make batman closer to the comics than ever before while introducing fresh actors in a fresh story.

why not have that for superman?

why go back to wacky real estate plans and steve urkel clark?

And once again, the kid rox, the movie 7/10 in my review mostly for the cool piano chucking munchkin, but I see there's just not much place to go with this story that insterests me.

Make it on your own. Don't use donner as a crutch. Donner's movie is great but it never was and never will be the End-All-Be-All of Superman. In fact you lost a lot of people already right out of the gate who hated donner's film to begin with. There are some out there believe it or not, probably because of how crappy lex was done in it or something.

If people disliked it so much, could you guys just start a huge online petition to get Singer off of a future sequel? I mean, there a HUNDREDS upon hundreds of people who would sign it.... Don't purchase the DVD, don't buy any SR merchandise, don't rent the movie, don't recommend it, etc.

I would sign it, that's for sure...but we all know WB trusts Singer and has made that public.

As for the Don'ts...I won't buy the DVD or any merchandise, nor rent it or recommend it...

In your opinion- not in everybody's opinion. Some loved it, while others hated it. I for one agree 100% with Boywonder.

They can keep Singer, he has made good movies in the past. I personally want new or additional writers (comic based) and Ottman replaced. The writers have done nothing epic on their own and Superman needs EPIC adventures. The musical score was good but not great and the only memorable parts were the already used Williams parts. The editing was all over the place, we don't know if it was Ottman or Singer that caused that but Singer is a higher profile name so we lose Ottman.

Well, this is a rather good question.Since after all this,i would think i would perhaps not see the movie. But this is not definate.

Just a reminder.. I didn't intend for this to be a debate thread.. I just want responses from those who DIDN'T like the movie.

Obviously, those that liked this movie are going to see any sequel regardless.

It amazes me that Singer would direct a kick ass sequence like the mansion assasination attempt in the opening of x2 with Nightcrawler yet when it came to Superman he never pushed the action one bit. In fact he lay out a story that had very little.
But besides the action I really don't like SR's Superman. I want a superman thats an icon of Masculinity and assertiveness who frowns from time to time but never..I repeat NEVER flys around teary eyed like a pu$$y.

But YES even though I don't want him anywhere near the sequel I'm sure he'll add some action worthy of some of my dollar amongst all the kid/husband/lois crap. SO I probably WOULD go and see it because I'm a superman fan.
yuck! I gotta wash my hands after typing all that. Disscussing SR always leaves me icky.

If Singer is there and he gets Jude Law to play Zod... I say no and many others will as well.

the people who were turned off by the ultra Donner style of the film...will not come back...with a god here we go again been there done that.

If he gives us something new.... I will be there

Thats an amazing clip. My only gripe is Superman's voice is so weak for his look!

Exactly my friend.I couldnt have said it better my self.

Watch this clip. Listen to what Superman is saying to Darkseid,
Look how superman moves.
THIS is the Superman we want in live action. A tough mofo taking on OTHER tough mofos.
Will Singer put scenes like this in the new movies. He better!

He won't.
He wasn't even capable of making victims bleed to Wolverine's cuts.

The question is this:

If Singer is attached to a sequel to this film (and I've been reading that there is serious doubt about that since the lackluster box office of this one) quote]

"'Superman Returns' will be profitable for us," says Warner Bros. production president Jeff Robinov. "We would have liked it to have made more money, but it reintroduced the character in a great way and was a good launching pad for the next picture. We believe in Bryan and the franchise. Clearly, this was the most emotional and realistic superhero movie ever made."

President of WB(Alan Horn) is also happy and wants to make a sequel also...

So Singer is gonna direct the movie.....

HAHAHAAH, yeah I'm sure he's had wood since this flopped. What do you expect this guy to say with it still coming out on DVD? Singer is gone after it flops on DVD to.

Exactly
To many pro singer people just seem to think the sequel is set in stone with him directing and I just do not see WB forking over the truckload of cash they paid him for SR to do a sequel nor do I see him taking less to direct the sequel.
Especially if it barley breaks even with DVD sales which is even a bit of a stretch at this point since it will need to do over 100 million to even break into the profit range.

Once was enough for me. Pull the plug on it and re-start a few years from now with a new director.

This thread is only for those of us that were not happy with this film. AND ONLY those posters.

It's not intended to start a flame war.

The question is this:

yea if singer directs it, I ain't payin' for jack... I'll download it just to to give my slap in their faces.

If Singer directs again, I will definately go see it, but my enthusiam will be thoroughly drained. I'd actually prefer a restart to the franchise many years down the line, but I don't think thats going to happen till maybe I'm 50 or 60. Its sad, but thats life.

The saddest part about the next movie is thats all I see it as now, just another movie. I have very little anticpation about the next one coming out, and it kinda bums me out.

im kinda looking forward to seeing super-jason's new powers develope.
