For those of you who ENJOYED the movie ... post your thoughts here ...

I found out about the hype by searching for a site that dealt with Marvel movies, then found superherohype to be that and more, so almost everyday for a long while I'd check for updates, and really enjoyed the scoops.
Then recently I figured I'd check out the board, and it was bigger and better then I thought, and I love vBullentin powered forums.
What I would of changed wouldn't have been much, but I think it was important for the film to be a bit darker. Understood this is a comicbook movie, and I really didn't mind Blaze being a goofball, I laughed a good amount, just like I laughed at the great interactions between Foggy and Matt in DD.
But they seemed to have wanted to carry on that humor on to almost all aspects of the film.
Mendez and Bentley's performances weren't strong enough for me, even if they both visually accomodated their roles.
I didn't mind we didn't get full demon form blackheart, but I was a bit underwheelmed by the lack of struggle in the battles, even Superman had a tougher time winning... And for Christ sakes.... He's Superman.
There's a bunch of little things I could go into, but I really don't want to be a nitpicker, like I'm being made to feel.

Welcome aboard then brother. I don't mean to minimize the contribution or your opinion.

I understand that you are posting on what you feel and that is cool.

The issue with making the film darker is simple.

What attracts people to the Spiderman films? They know there will be some dark moments, but the film will be light enough not to give kids nightmares. I went with my brother who is 50 and he jumped at a couple of scenes. He liked it a lot and thought it was balanced.

The question is if he makes it darker, it is neither true to the Character to a great extent (Johnny Blaze) nor does it suit what Marvel ultimately wants for the film.

The widest possible audience. Do they give up something for that? Absolutely. My Brother's comment -- "That's the kind of movie you could see again ..."

That is what they are after ...

Well, for anyone complaining, I believe the review that said this summed it up perfectly;

" Seriously, people, if you’re going to go see a movie you know is about a biker with a flaming skull and magic chains, you forfeit the right to complain about how the plot isn’t logical or realistic. Or that there are too many special effects at the expense of story."

I have to see it again for me to rank it with the other Marvel films officially, but my first impression of the movie was a good one. I thought the cast (minus Bentley) did great, I actually liked the story, despite the fact it wasn't too impressive I enjoyed the final fight between Blackheart and Ghost Rider, and I liked the western feel it had.

This movie would have been great had they not had the constant campy humor, gotten a better actor to play Blackheart, and maybe have given Blackheart less henchmen so the fights could have been better.

Yeah, loved almost everything- EXCEPT Blackheart. Wes Bently is a terrible actor... put a Peter Fonda type actor, subtle, in his place and it would have been alot better of a villain- at least than the one we got.

I didn't think Blackheart's dialogue was bad either, but his lines were just so poorly delivered. They definately could have done better for him.

As I said, imagine- for example- Peter Fonda saying his lines.

Even though I thought most of the movie was horrible, I did like the following:

1.) The Penance Stare. Those scenes were awesome.
2.) The First Transformation. I loved how GR started to laugh.
3.) The scene where both Riders were together.
4.) Middle Finger thing.

That is basically it.

There were things I was disappointed in (most notably Blackheart), but it was definitely a very entertaining movie.

And I'll say it seemed like most people in the audience with me agreed. Every humorous beat was a hit, and there was major clapping at the end, which is not something that happens all the time.

It's a crowdpleaser, if anything.

Ghost rider was great! from what Ive seen from reviews its definatly a love/hate opinion on this movie, but I really liked it. There was alot to like here, I really didnt find much of anything cheesy beyond Wes Bentleys Blackheart! too whiney teenager type. other than that really, pretty dang solid! Favorite Scene was definalty the Prison Breakout, at that point I really felt like ghost rider was a great hero, and it actually gave me chills when he erupted from teh pile of criminals(great camera work in that spot too) all the humorus spots I laughed at. Score was great, opening credits and end credits were superbly done, Nic Cage was great, of course.. I like Cage as an actor, he's Cage, just like Arnold is Arnold, and Sly is Sly.
the visuals were just amazing!

id give it a solid 7.5/10 for sure. I honostley think it was better than X3 on a satisfaction level. But I see people being just way too harsh on this, sheesh.

It's a Movie i can watch again, very re-watchable.

yes I do love Daredevil and Punisher, X3-liked very much, FF and Hulk werent the greatest imo, but I still liked them, and have hope for the sequels/restarts. I havnt seen elektra just yet and Blade isnt that intresting to me, heh.

maybe I dont take these movies too seriously or something? I dont know, im just so SUPREMELY happy to see MY FAVORITE marvel characters in friggin movies!!!!!!

I get hyped for the movies, I love the characters that comes to the screen. I never read any GR comics or anything, but I still got pumped for it, read comics and such... and it delievered.

Oh Well, cant please everyone... MSJ knows that, he's doin it for people like me and the Rider fans who want to see him on screen and can forgive any "bad" director decisions. I sure would like for MSJ to handle more comic characters, wether it be The Preacher or DEADPOOL! which id think he could handle well. or even Doctor Strange.. either way... Id love to see more of his work. twice now, MSJ turned me onto a character I never really payed attention to, and now I love. Daredevil is one of my fav comic characters, and ghost rider just got 20 times cooler. Damn its good to see a new marvel character on screen, dang!

overall - sweetness.

thats what i got too, i agree with ya... and its the 2nd time ive actually seen my theater packed to the brim, and a movie showing on 2 screens in one theater. (mind that its a rundown small town and carmike theater and not a huge one) not since X2 have i seen this.

but it was GREAT.. great atmosphere too. plus it was snowing heavily, people braved it out to come see it here :yay:

Saw it last night and thought that it was great. Some of the lines in it were definatley cringe worthy, most notably some of Blackheart's lines, but all in all I totally enjoyed it. I'll be buying the DVD when it comes out.

One of my favorite scenes was when Blaze's buddy thought that he had convinced him to take out the cars from under his jump when he was jumping from field goal to field goal, but realizes that he's replaced them with helicopters. The looks on his and Blaze's faces were priceless.

A couple of points that might not be brought up otherwise:

1. Matt Long, from certain angles, seriously looked like a younger Nicholas Cage.
2. The transition from young JB to older JB with the Ozzie laugh from "Crazy Train." I found that laugh to be very creepy in this context, kinda demonic in a way.
3. The contrast between classic/ heavy rock and Karen Carpenter. That was a really great contrast in music, in my opinion.
4. They used classic rock.

BTW, does anyone know where they got that karate ape video from? That was kinda trippy. Lol.

haha, that was another histerical moment imo, johnny and the monkey, i just thought it was great. Trippy is the perfect word.. lol

and yea the young incarnations of johnny and Roxanne were just spot on superb... insanley perfect. Such an enjoyable movie. I dont even care anymore about the cornyness...

hello my name is Tom i'm new to this forum. i came here to find out the name of the western song played when GR and CR rode to san vangoz (spelling?) but while poking around in your forums i noticed a post that reminded me of somthing: when GR first met CR after his first transformation he had been stabbed the previous night while in GR form (back left shoulder if i remeber correctly) so if the injuries still afflict him after hes turned back to blaze, then why didn't he become human swiss cheese when he returned to blaze after he got shot to **** by the swat team post jail break....

any way, the whole reason i came to this form was to ask: WHAT IN GODS NAME IS THAT SONG CALLED?! its now 3am est i am currently burnt out. searched high and low for hours.... the link below is the closest i came to finding it... if any one can help me find it id greatly appreciate it :)

on a side note i cant help but looking at this forum and feeling like Elias from clerks 2 especially with the transformers smiley face to my right "transforming". to barrow from Randal Graves: "shut the **** up gobot." i'm not bashing/trolling/flaming i just find it funny :)

Welcome to the forum...

But your post covers a whole lot of different posts.

1) Goof/mistake/incontinuity
2) Song name
3) Clerks 2 rocks

Make sure you look around carefully because sometimes the post you are thinking of posting may have al;ready posted (some idots get really flamed about that, ignore them)

"Ghostriders In The Sky" by spiderbaite (sp?)

but its an old song redone by many artists.

such a great part in the movie too.. very cool, had the song in my head as i was leaving!

I loved the scenes on the bike, but the bike wasn't everything. The gun and chain looked great.

The dialogue was crisp and funny. The parts that were scary were not that scary but I wasn't expecting the Grudge or Halloween. This is the Rider after all.

His decision to choose to be the Rider over the girl ... was what Johnny did!

So.

I got more than I expected for the budget they had and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it so much I am going again tonight.

If you liked it ... post your thoughts here.
You though the Grudge was scary? O.o

I swear. :o That and the Ring were by far the most lame movies that traded in fear for annoyance. Oh well.

However, Ghost Rider was great. I actually was in America this week and got to see it, and boy was I happy to.

I like how the origin was still Johnny made a deal to help, and got screwed in the end. I DIDN'T like how it was Mephistopholes over Mephisto (though it's obvious Mephisto was based on the character), even though. At least, I took it as Mephistopholes the devil from Faust. Either way, that was slightly weak, but was still rockin.

I didn't like how the Rider was simply some fire elemental that apparently dwarfed two elementals that wouldv'e had an extreme edge over him. Must've had some devil upgrade or something.

I like how it followed the stereotypical point of the initial transformation looking like it hurt like hell, but every subsequent one was nothing.

Phantom Rider! How much can I say I loved it! There's just not enough space for it. I would've asked, "Tired of hunting the Hulk?" though just for kicks. But it was pure awesome nontheless.

Which brings me to another huge point for me. Despite my French heritage and nationality, my by far favourite culture heritage is easily the old west of America. And this movie has it all OVER the place (hence the Phantom Rider love) I liked the music when it was Western based.
Bubonic, right there with you and I'm sure alot of others are as well.... the movie wasn't PERFECT and it wasn't ABYSMAL... it's, if you look at the polls here from fellow comic book fans, about average to above average. The 7 and 8 range. I gave it an 8. Which, I personally think is a good start.

I had the same feeling I had about the Fantastic Four film. I liked it, but could have been better. And that's what sequels are for- as you said, I also hope a sequel is in the works. Because with sequels you always, for the most part, learn what does and what doesn't work. Spider-Man 2, in my opinion, is miles ahead of the first Spider-Man and the same goes for X-Men and hopefully Fantastic Four. You learn from your mistakes and you fix them, while building on the aspects that the audience liked.

Well, I'd say this film was definitely better than the Fantastic Four film.

I saw it yesterday and almost everything just didnt hit right. It seemed like MSJ borrowed everything from other superhero movies including DD, the dialouge was ******ed in places and the story was convuluted and weak. Then I saw it again tonight and everything seemed to go by much faster, the little themes didnt seem as forced and it was overall more awesome. I support it now.

My wife and I both loved it. It was very comic book-y, and didn't take itself seriously, but serious enough without being hokey. The humor throughout was great, wasn't trite, and wasn't forced (and neither was the dialogue). also liked that the fight scenes weren't dragged out. visually, the Ghost Rider character was awesome. may be my favorite Marvel movie. i love seeing all the Marvel characters and their abilities brought to life, but this one was especially nails.

So going by this logic the people who hated the movie should create a seperate thread to voice their opnions that have already been posted in the reviews thread??
