What other properties do they have besides the FF and the X-men?

This year they put out Kingsman already, they'll be releasing Peanuts, and they're on the production committee for Dragon Ball Z Resurrection F. All of those have the potential for sequels, and Fox has also picked up options on a variety of comics from other publishers.

Though Peanuts (newspaper strip), Dragonball (manga) and Kingsman (comics) are all technically comicbook adaptations, each is serving a completely different audience. I don't think that audiences will grow sick of comic book adaptations any more than they will tire of on-screen depictions of broadway plays or classic novels.

FOX (and WB) may have difficulty putting together a connected cinematic comic book universe on the heels of Marvel's successful launch of the MCU. But I don't think the source material is the problem.

I don't think audiences will get sick of comic book adaptations either, but I also suspect the COO of the studio cautioned against over reliance for a reason. It's entirely possible they're rethinking putting out so many.

Interesting. As much as we're discussing this massive expanded Foxverse thing, the COO of 21st Century Fox is now saying Fox SHOULDN'T become known as the comic book adaptation studio. That's a very interesting thing to say when Fox is supposedly planning to release more of them then Disney, a studio that actually owns a comic book company. Almost makes you wonder if they're second guessing some of them...

This is a big deal because what?.... Fox isnt limited into making comic book films. They are releasing animation films from Blue Sky and Dreamworks, they have Planet of the Apes, Avatar, Maze Runner, Alien, Prometheus, Assassin's Creed and every year they release different genre of films. They also have a film division called Fox Searchlight.

So why they would want to just be seen as a CB adaptation studio only when comic book films are not the only type of films they release every year. Sigh.

Actually they weren't , if you look Wolverine and Storm's heads have been removed from the top left corner (and there were no X-Men in the main illustration to start with).

It certainly wasn't a failure, but it wasn't as profitable as it could have been. If the return on investment doesn't grow with Apocalypse, budgets for future X-films will probably be reduced. Much lower grossing films have made larger profits, including some released last year.

Okay,I agree that they had to rebuild the brand. However, it's totally inaccurate to say they hadn't used popular mutants since TLS. Wolverine has been the most popular mutant for YEARS, and he's been in every movie. They'd also been using some of the other more popular character in that time, like Magneto, Gambit, and Beast. I don't think DoFP owes its success to the glorious return of Toad.

Come on dude... X3 was the last X-Men film with the official X-Men team going into the movie we haven't seen Cyclops/Storm/Jean/Rogue/Iceman/Colossus/Wolverine on screen together in 8 YEARS!

The movie was horrible and that was the last impression on fans for almost a decade. Wolverine solo films are fine. But THE FANS WANT THE UNCANNY X-MEN! People were hesitant because of the horrible X3 & Origins and it affected FC. I'm the biggest die hard X-Men fan and even I refused to see FC in theaters (my mistake). Imagine non fans point of view. DoFP was a grand return and Apocalypse will be the icing on the delicious cake

That's what I've been saying and I've been hushed every time. Fox only made 70 million in profit on DOFP, with a WW box office gross of over 700 million. Do you realize how pathetic that is? If that becomes a recurring pattern the X-franchise isn't going to look so good in a year or so.

How could it have been a disappointment? The Wolverine and First Class didn't make nearly as much as DoFP. It made exactly as much as Fox wanted it to make and their confidence in the property shows in their future projects.
