Answer me this: what exactly did the court of Owls want?

To maintain and strengthen the influence they held over Gotham. And seeing as how they're still out there to some degree, I don't think we've seen all there is to see of them.

Its really overrated IMO, the villains have zero motives and characterization.

They already own Gotham, but they want to own it even more..... :oldrazz:

I saw TDKR. I was skeptical, because of how dull year one was. But this is a great adaptation. Christopher Drake's score is awesome. He already did a great job in under the red hood, and he doesn't disappoint here. It's a powerful score, and indeed, it has a 80's vibe to it.

The movie itself is visually great, it's entertaining, and the action scenes are amazing. I have to say I was disappointed by how the mutant leader beat Batman though. It's not as brutal as it was in the comics imo.

There are only to things that I didn't like: Carrie is not supposed to be that great. She's not a circus acrobat, nor a great fighter in the GN. Yet she's all of that here, which doesn't add anything so far to the story and is even missing the point imo.

Also, The scene with the general was disappointing. The iconical splash page where Batman is carrying his body is not there, instead he's walking away. That's disappointing, and not as powerful.

Regardless, this is a great animated movie, and I can't wait to watch part 2.

really enjoyed it, just AMAZING can't wait for part 2 10/10

LOVED this!!! The comic is one of my favorites so I was hyped for the animated version and it did not disappoint!

Looking forward to part 2!

Can someone PM me the part 2 preview as well?

It's encouraging to see so many positive reactions from people, however, I haven't seen the movie yet or the sneak peek for Part 2 because I don't want to contribute to the rampant crime of massive illegal downloading theft online. I will support this product by actually buying it and contribute to it's sales, and encourage others to do so. I hope the sales will be strong, making enough money to convince the studio suits to not downsize budgets further for DC animated movies. And I want to have something to look forward too after I buy the film. I don't want to completely spoil the excitement and surprise of watching Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1 and the sneak peak for Part 2 for the first time after buying it from a store once it's officially released next Tuesday, September 25th.

Here's the most recent officially released clip:

its absolutely a must buy for me, well worthy of any batman fans collection

imo its one of dc's best animated features to date
i hope they release a soundtrack, i'd love to play it with the dkr suit in arkham city

I actually really liked how the Mutant leader was done in this movie. Great voice acting, I think. I got the same vibe from the GN.

I loved this movie. They did a great job and I dare say this might be the best comic animated movie so far

Can't wait for this movie!! I just read all 7 in one day haha
the 4 TDKR and the 3 TDKSA
haha they were amazing. The first four were of course better but i did like the others as well. now onto Knightfall... the only reasopn i put knightfall of cuz its so damn long... still cant wait tho

what was your guys' favorite out of the four originals?

Is the half naked nazi chick Bruno in the film(s)?

Actually "she" is transgender, from what I've been told. But that character didn't show up til issue 3: Hunt the Dark Knight, which will be covered in DKR Part II.

Here's a question for you guys: which release are you getting, the Blu-ray, two-disc DVD, or single disc DVD, and why?

I see. I think it's the fans who think she's 'transgendered'. I've always thought she was just amazonian. Also, it's Frank Miller who (IS) probably into bondage or other forms of erotica judging from his work.

I didn't download it my copy came on Sat, I ordered it off someone off ebay last week and it turned up. Official blu ray aswell.

I'm curious to see if she'll make it in part 2. They censored the scenes of naked Bruce in the Batcave here putting underwear on him, and then completely cut the shot of Carrie Kelly hugging his bare naked body which was specifically mentioned in the part 1 preview as being a controversial image at the time of the book's release. I think a topless chick is further than they're willing to go but we'll see.

I didn't download it either.

I watched it on YT.

Not to mention some of us watch the movie before, but that doesn't prevent them from being it... but it seems we're ugly criminals anyway.

I don't see any problem with that tbh if ppl download it then buy it then its fine. The companies still getting thei money and its not like the cinema where repeated viewings cost the company money in box office.

I know that many people would prefer to buy the original DC animated movies but, in many countries, DC animated movies are not available officially and when they are released officially, it is five or six years later.

If everybody who downloaded it for free or watched it online for free actually do buy the officially released DVD or Blu-ray, contributing to the official sales. Too many people who download for free and watch a film for free wont bother to also buy the product, going by the old saying, "Why buy the cow when I can get the milk for free." Not taking into account or not caring about the ramifications of not buy it are on sales and the future releases if the movie doesn't make enough money to convince the studio suits that these DC animated movies are worth maintaining their budgets without further downsizing.
The Warner studio suits were disappointed by the sales of Batman: Year One, so notice how the Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1 Blu-ray is bare boned compared to Batman: Year One, only having one new featurette (Her Name is Carrie … Her Role is Robin mini-featurette) and a sneak peak at the next film. Notice now little Dark Knight Returns promotion there's been compared to Batman: Year One last year.

The Batman: Year One Blu-ray has audio commentary (64 minutes) with co-producer Alan Burnett, co-director Sam Liu, voice director Andrea Romano and former DC group editor Mike Carlin, and two new featurettes – Heart of Vengeance: Returning Batman to His Roots (24 minutes) with Denny O'Neil, Len Wein, Mike Carlin, Michael Uslan, Alan Burnett and Greg Rucka and Conversations with DC Comics (40 minutes) with Denny O'Neil, Michael Uslan, Dan DiDio and Scott Snyder. A 10 minute sneak peak at the next film. Plus the DC Showcase Original Short – Catwoman (15 minutes).
Batman: Year One even has it's own website.

People in many countries can buy the movies off http://www.amazon.co.uk/ which ship DVDs in region 2 and import Blu-rays that are region free to most countries in the world. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Batman-Dark-Knight-Returns-Blu-ray/dp/B008RV5K5E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1348057497&sr=8-4
