I think they could be bringing scarecrow because they plan on playing up this element from the long halloween and dark victory. I think it could work very well, especially with the introduction of two-face.

Hell yeah!, I hope it does pan out that way.

I can't wait to see exaclty how The Scarecrow is interwoven into this storyline. I've always loved the character and was very excited when he was included in Batman Begins. A full-fledged Scarecrow is just one of many things I'm looking forward to in The Dark Knight.

HELL YEAH x 2! that would kick some ass, they were almost to that point in BB

This could've been posted elsewhere but yeah man this is totally what I want to see from the second half of TDK till the end of the third film.

yep I think that's the idea.

Two-Face can be where mobs and freaks intersect, then the circus really comes to Gotham.

It's really interesting because as far as Nolan's approach to Batman goes...I don't think we've seen anything yet. Gotham is about to go crazy (literally) and it's going to be great :woot:

I haven't heard DV mentioned but defintely TLH, The Man of Laughs, Joker's Five way Revenge and maybe Killing Joke.

Has anyone else heard of any other stories that will be the inspiration for this movie?

I do believe that Jett mentioned part of The Joker's inspiration will come from "The Dark Knight Returns" as well as Batman #1. But of course, that's slightly different as it only applies that that villian.

I'm on board too!
I really like the idea of the old mob gangs being totally unprepared to deal with the Arkham escapees. It sets up the Gotham we know from modern Batman comics and shows how the mobs evolved into gangs run by villians like Scarecrow, Penguin, Scar Face and the like.
I like how they are taking time to show this struggle. I hope we get a scene or two where the mob bosses try to whack Joker and he totally surprises them with how violent he can be.
We might even get a n alternate version of No-Man's Land by the 3rd & 4th films.

I read that part of Joker's inspiration was also going to be from A Clockwork Orange.

I can see the influence of TDKR Joker in his rather large looking shoulders from that older set picture. :woot:

Year one? What aspect?

I'm guessing on that one, they don't seem to mention it that much even though there's obviously lots of bits in BB. I'd be suprised if they don't take the Loeb corruption stuff to advance Gordon another peg up the ladder, and maybe his affair. Also, some form of the Selina Kyle intro.

Yeah I forgot about that. I think you are definitely right about Loeb and Selina would by a fanboys dream.

Yay! Somebody started a thread about this at last! :woot:

I loved the whole idea of the "freaks" taking over Gotham from the mobsters. It was one of my favourite elements of "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory". But while I do think that Scarecrow should appear in "The Dark Knight", this theme shouldn't really come to the forefront until the third film.

Like someone else said, Two-Face is key. I could see Dent's transformation into Two-Face leading to the key driving force of the plot of film three: Two-Face bringing the "freaks" of Gotham together to take over the city. This could lead to a return of The Joker and Scarecrow, (and maybe Riddler if AMH is playing him), along with a chance to introduce new interpretations of characters like Harley Quinn, or maybe even Poison Ivy and/or Killer Croc. Get together a bonafide army of Gotham's crazies.

I've said this several times before in other threads, but one scene I REALLY want to see in the third Batman film is a Godfather-style montage, with the freaks picking off the remaining gangsters one by one.

That's one of the things I really liked about the ending of Batman Begins is that this series could incorporate aspects of No Man's Land, which would be really cool as that's one of my favorite Batman storylines.

^ That was me about Two-Face. Ditto on the montage scene!

I was thinking that in the movies he'll be the villain most capable of running an old style mob. The freaks only can take Gotham when one begins to organise, otherwise their just fringe players. However I don't really see him joining with Joker or Scarecrow, instead he'll want to put them and Maronis crew all out of action. He could work with Penguin or someone else though.

Still hoping for Catwoman to appear. She's another strange element that plays of both mob and freaks. Stealing from one, selling to the other.

Actually now I think about it it's gonna be interesting to see how movie Two-Face tolerates the Joker ^ (keysers post). Depends on how he's scarred I guess. A confrontation does seem to have the most potential form drama though

it's called a montage... MONTAGE! (sorry a little team america)

Back to Gordon for a second, He got promoted to Lt at teh end of BB right? So does that mean that the commish will possibly be killed or get convicted with all of teh police corruption?

There was no overt signs of Loeb being corrupt in "Batman Begins". I'm thinking he gets killed by The Joker, and Gordon takes his place as Commissioner at the end of "The Dark Knight". If Batman Begins took inspiration from "Year One", and "The Dark Knight" is taking inspiration from "The Long Halloween", I could possibly see the third film bearing parallels to "Dark Victory".

Bit soon for commissioner me thinks, he's still a mere Lieutenant

True but nothing happened to prevent Nolan from introducing it either.

I think he'll be Commish by the beginning of the next film, but not the end of TDK. Just seems to much like Begins' ending to me...
