The Dark Knight From LatinoReview: Joker Intro SPOILERS!

See how nice it is to just join the lynchmob instead of fighting us.

I would believe it but, Alfred says otherwise.

well, Alfred doesn't know that it's the Joker that has them by the balls. Maybe it just looks like the mob is using the Joker instead of vice versa.

Jett thinks all of this sounds cool. Shocking.

I haven't :oldrazz:

If you have any lingering doubts that on the spectrum of veracity, this story registers as a "poop manwich" (which, according to Wikipedia, is "a hyper-complicated, scatological, gay dude thing"), then do yourself a favor and go to the Latino Review site. Read the article out loud, saying each word clearly. Like: "Source: Anonymous"; "I had dinner with an executive"; "You'll get your money back". it will be therapeutic.
And you'll know in your heart that Latino Review is a full-on poop-manwich factory.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt i believe you :yay:

I agree, Alfred possibly doesn't know that it's The Joker calling the shots. Also, his first lines in the trailer may not even be referring to The Joker -- the latter lines, granted.

Take it easy on the dude. I mean, he has Down's Syndrome, right?

See, I can kind of understand the criticism he gets, but this is just way too juvenile and immature.

Say what you want about what the man does, but leave the man alone for who he is. It really makes you look bad, and furthermore pretty much invalidates any solid reasoning you might exhibit in regards to your opinion.

Exactly!

Some people like well written stories.

BB fit it to a "T" there. It was very well written. :)

That's not saying much. Any good director could have saved it.

Not Joel Schumacher, that for sure. Even Darren Aronofsky's idea was garbage & nothing like Batman at all. Nolan was the one that saved it.

As for why The Joker targets Batman...harder question. He's had so many excellent reasons over the years, but...well, maybe it's that he feels connected to Batman in some way? I liked how Ra's al Ghul was basically using a different, harsher approach to the same problem Batman confronted - civilizational decay. From the quotes I've heard, The Joker isn't attempting to purge decay, like Batman or Ra's, he revels in it. Maybe he sees the purity of Batman's noble self-sacrificing idealism as an anachronism in this nihilistic age... or something of that kind, and targets him for that reason?
Batman is a symbol of something. Joker wants that symbol dead, and some good laughs along the way. It's pretty much that simple.
If the mob want their money back, isn't easier to kill the Joker and take the money back, instead of going after Batman?
Yes. Which is why this is stupid. Although, they'd have to find him first...

1. These are old-school gangsters. I wouldn't put it past them to keep all their ill-gotten gains in-house, in a bank THEY own. The dialogue from the sides suggests that they felt their reputation alone would stop anyone from hitting the bank.
Even old school gangsters were smart enough to split their earnings up between several banks.

2. "The Long Halloween" explored the idea of old-time gangsters set in their ways, unable to adapt to the modern era, being slowly overtaken by a new breed of more dangerous criminal. "Begins" already nodded to it with the "escalation" discussion. Perhaps the gangsters' foolish lapse in judgement here - their own complacency getting them bent over a table by The Joker - is another way of exploring it.
So the mob is stupid. Wow, what...what a compelling portrayal.

3. These are the same gangsters whose boss - Falcone - goes down to the scene of a drug shipment to "keep an eye on things", then when Batman attacks he goes outside to investigate instead of making a quiet getaway. They aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer.
So because BEGINS didn't think things through...the sequel shouldn't, either?
See, you people can't get it through your thick skulls that not all of us loved Batman Begins. And TLH had Carmine Falcone attempting to launder money through Gotham National Bank, which is way more intelligent than this stupidity.
But in TLH, he didn't keep ALL his money in a bank. He kept it in an unguarded warehouse. Which was also stupid.

For the people who are complaining about the mob having all their money in a bank in Gotham, here are a couple of points:

1. These are old-school gangsters. I wouldn't put it past them to keep all their ill-gotten gains in-house, in a bank THEY own. The dialogue from the sides suggests that they felt their reputation alone would stop anyone from hitting the bank.

I usually always agree with your posts but this time, with all due respect, I hope the gangsters are not too "old school" and too dumb.

Some info from that link I've been trying to translate:

Heath on the Joker:
* Heath Ledger on prepping for The Joker: “I locked myself in my room at a London hotel. I made a diary and then I experimented with new voices. I tried to get inside a psychopath’s mind, to empathize with someone that has so little conscious of his own acts. It has been fun, because there are no limits or boundaries for what you say or do.

[How I came up with my version of The Joker] a very personal process. It was a combination of reading all the comic books I could, then the script, and then closing my eyes to meditate how to do it. Since the first day Chris and I talked about the project, it was clear that we had the same idea of how this character should be portrayed. We had identical images of it in our minds.”

There's a whole lot more, but you'll have to find the magazine to read it. FYI: It includes some spoilerish info on the look of Two Face!

Cool info. For a guy who's rumoured to not be too crazy about comics, it sounds like Heath sure did his homework, good man.
