Bishop betrayed them. He was out to kill the child and in the process, sicced sentinels on the mansion, nearly killed Forge and shot Xavier in the head.

And regarding the question about the Messiah Complex teasers, the savior / downfall person could be the same, and that would be the baby / Hope. The labels are Cable's belief of her, as well as the viewpoint of the X-Men, and Bishop's belief of her.

The duality works similarly to the way of perception in Legacy of Kain: Defiance, and the perception of the character Raziel.
