Future plans for Smallville. The good & bad...

He also thought he knew for a fact that Clark was super-powered before he tested him in Mortal, but when he saw the video tape of Clark getting cut by the lasers and after he punched Clark himself and made him bleed Lex was left confused about Clark's secret.

And yet he still got tossed around by a superpowered Clark several episodes later in Hypnotic.

Not to mention Clark's mysterious disapearance from the hospital and unexplained ressurection in the episode after Mortal.

The episode that ripped off the Saw had the most obvious one. Lex made the connection of Fine being a Kryptonian because of his abilities and even tried to use Green K on him later on, but in this ep he still seemed confused in the end how Clark could go from one end of the city to the other in seconds........

I don't see what the big deal is? Smallville has minimally altered the orgins of Superman/Clark Kent. Anytime there's a live version take on a comic character there will be some changes made because what might work for the comics doesn't always work the same in live action media. Be sides who wants to watch a show or a movie that follows the comics word for word.:whatever:

Their is some truth in what you have said , I'll give you that .

Prefect Example SPIDER-MAN In The early history in the comics, Peter Parker didn't have Organic Spider-Webbing, He created his own webbing as well as Web-shooters in order to fire his webbing out . However in the movies Raimi and Company decided to change that and give Peter Organic spider-webbing when he get's bitten by the radioactive spider .

I happen to like Organic Webbing much more than Peter creating his own webbing. The way I see it , is that this way he doesn't run out of webbing while he's in battle like in the early years in the comics (Now thanks to the movie, Organic webbing is apart of the current continuity in the Spider-Man mythology)

I don't have a problem with changing the origins of a superhero, I guess its really the choice of the changes they make thats debateable (not the concept of changing them).

But not every Smallville fan, I did a poll on Ksite for fun and over half of them were 'relieved' he wont ever don the \S/ suit.

Now that's just plain scary. Not to attack anyone, but how in the world could you be a Smallville-watching Superman fan and NOT want to see the suit by the show's end? That makes no sense...Superman is the final outcome that the entire series is built around.

a lot of people on k-site aren't superman fans they are tom welling fans

Go ask them. Smallville seems to have other stuff that appeal to them more important than anything Superman related.....

like Chloe.

and the fact she's lois in denial.

Huh?

Now, I don't frequent the k-site forums but you are making broad generalizations based on a forum poll and assumptions.

I've heard from people through my reviews on kryptonsite that are superman fans. Boy do I get busted on it from time to time when I don't bring up the mythos elements in my reviews...

Just because those people don't vote in polls doesn't mean they aren't there.

I have a feeling the only way they could do Doomsday is a guy with FOTW powers.

They admited they dont have the budget to give Phil Morris green MM makeup. How the heck do they expect to create Doomsday?

That's BS, Angel (on the same network) had a person in green makeup effects every episode for 3 1/2 seasons! Not only that many of the episodes had a number of people in different makeup effects.

Gough and Millar's words, not mines.

we didn't say everyone trip, hey even i go there occasionally.

and they looked cheesey as all hell... Gough would rather him look good or nothing at all....

The only downer I see, well the two, are the "no chance of Clark in the super costume at the very end"
and
the Doomsday, which would be such a huge and epic character they couldn't possibly pull it off in the show. I'd rather see a clone of Clark (Bizarro) before seeing Doomsday.
The only way Doomsday would work is if they introced him in the start of the season or something, he was played by a great big actor and they used alot of good special effects and make up.
and in the end Clark and Doomsday kill each other after a huge epic battle that could span two episodes or something. then the next season its Clar's return.

I understand that they stuff dealing with who owns the rights and the movie and so on, they wont be allowed unless enough people write in or something in protest. Other than that they aren't legally allowed to go that rought.

Same with the Lois and Clark thing, but that is OK cause its like him being Superman. It is something that I knew wouldn't be on the show because it happens in his future. When he first gets to Metropolis he isn't even really friends with Lois, so its OK that they don't date on the show. Just as long as there is some flerting.

Instead of Doomsday or Bizarro I'd much rather see Hawkgirl, since every guest star on the show is a guy. Its time to get some female heroes on there.

Well, I think, more importantly than showing the costume on the show, they should develop an arc which makes Lex go insane and totally hate the extraterrestrial being which he believes is the cause of his distress. Specifically, Lana and/or his father should be killed in a way somehow associated with the 'S' symbol so that Lex will hold Superman responsible, or else Jor-El should kill Lionel in order to protect Clark, and Lex should discover that Jor-El killed his father to protect his own son. In either case, it would explain Lex's hatred for Superman beyond the "you thwarted my plans and made me bald" explanation which has never been a good one in the mythology. The show should end with Lana &or Lionel dead, Lex totally insane, and Clark at the fortress (perhaps grieving over Lana, perhaps even the dead Chloe (who dies protecting his secret from Lex), ready to spend years there before his return. That would also explain why Superman is so damned serious in the future. If they do show the costume at the end, there would have to be some sort of John Byrne style explanation about how it changes how Clark looks to the outside world, otherwise, everyone would know Clark was Superman in the future.

My fantasy rambling 2 cents. :woot:

Pssst... Trip.... "over half" = 15 to 14 for a whopping 29 votes on a site that has over 34 THOUSAND registered users. Remember who we're dealing with here. This is the same nutjob who wants to see Chloe get raped in an episode, and publishes slander videos on youtube of people he doesn't even know.

I've heard from people through my reviews on kryptonsite that are superman fans...
Indeed! There's a LOT there. I've been a registered user of K-Site longer than I have been at the Hype. There's MANY Supes' fans there. I'd say there were also as many Clark fans (proportionally) as there are here. There's Lex fans, Chloe fans, and yes, even Lana fans there LOL. Pigeon-holing an entire message board based on what ostensibly amounts to votes tallied from .0008% of its users is asinine.

Just because those people don't vote in polls doesn't mean they aren't there.
Bingo!

Lorne didn't look chessy. Many of the Buffy/Angel makeup effects were great, the Gentlemen, Skip, Glory's lackies, those just a few off the top of my head.

Besides if the producers were so against cheese they wouldn't have so many inhabitants of Smallville gain superpowers from exposure to kyrptonite.

Or they wouldn't have put their pseudo Justice League in those costumes.

In any case, I prefer they don't attempt to show Martian Manhunter's alien form. Leaves something for Clark to discover when he's adult.

Just for point of reference, the 'half' referred to those who voted on the poll, thought that was obvious and didnt need to be spelled out.

Every Superman fan that watches this show is waiting to see tom don the damn suit and fly .

And I was just proving that statement wrong.

Personally I didnt care if he wore the suit or not in the end. However, if he doesnt become Superman in the end because of the reasons Gough and Millar specified, disapointment shall abound and some of the reactions will be priceless  things will definately get ugly.

They could show his transformation sequence perhaps. How MM changes into different people.

Yeah, well... I should consider the source.

True.

People get to fussy with the superman thing, at the end of the show I would just be happy if Clark decided to really help people around the world.

 Have you read a Superman comic in the past 20 years? And are you by any chance Bryan Singer?

if your standards are "high school play" then yes they were great. By even TV effects standards they were lame. My college theater production of "Lestat" had better looking vampires.
