BvS Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman! - - Part 11

That depends on what these "interesting themes" are. Marston, while I give him credit for creating a female superhero, was a bit of a...fetishist.

I like how they wrote WW in Azzarello's run. I want a WW like that, but with a proper costume.

Heh. He was a weird guy. No doubt about that. But he had a fascinating point of view.

Azzarello has kept Marston's ideas about the power of persuasion, cooperation, and the ability to turn enemies into allies being more important than brute force. I know Morrison's Wonder Woman book will be mostly about Marston's interpretation. I'm looking forward to it.

Me too. I like the way Azzarello interpreted it and hope Morrison does well. WW has been written poorly in the past and I didn't read her comics for a while. But people like Azzarello have done much better and have won back my readership. I'm hoping to add BvsS's WW to my list of well-written versions of her. If they take inspiration from any comics, I hope they pick ones like Azzarello's. If they combine that with a proper costume, we'll have a great WW on screen.

Whats wrong with Marstons fetish?

It was rooted in BDSM. People can do what they want behind closed doors, but I don't want to see that on screen/in comics.

Azzerello's is by far one of the best WW, ever.

Yes it is. I'd love to see that WW interact with Henry's Supes and a weary Batfleck.

@ jaymes_e06 Where's the Gadot manip improvement you said you'll fix? :argh:

Which one I've done so many I can't keep track of the improvements? lol

I like how the new Wonder Woman is written in her new series.

How did I forget Gails run! I didn't start reading the comics regularly until the New 52 though so that might be why I forgot.

This one :woot:

George Perez, Phil Jimenez, and Ruka come to mind as GREAT WW runs. Messner-Loeb too. But I guess what's fresh is peoples' minds always stands out.
Oh as I said I didn't read it regularly but again, I know of George Perez's run and it was long before "my generation" that is what I meant.

Jimenez and Rucka's runs were post 1999 though, you young whipper-snapper!!:argh:

Actually, does anyone know what a whipper-snapper is? Seriously, I'm not old enough to know the origin of that idiom. :word:

How about they just want to be as faithful to the visual aesthetic of the characters as possible? Who also happen to wear less clothing than one wears in most public places.

I have read somewhere on cosplay sites where female cosplayers feel torn betweening modifying a costume or biting the bullet and making a perfect recreation of it. It's sad that there has to be that kind of issue. I think there should be more equality in terms of overall coverage on superhero designs.

That's a good point. Althougth I often see Ms Marvel and Emma Frost cosplayers in comic con pics where they utilize their more revealing designs even though both those characters have versions in continuity now which have full leg coverage.

Meaning

A diminutive or insignificant person, especially a sprightly or impertinent youngster.
Origin

'Whipper snapper' is now a rather archaic term and, although you might hear it in black and white British films, those who are young and streetwise enough to actually be whipper snappers aren't likely to use it.

'Whipper snappers' were known by various names, all of them derived from the habit of young layabouts of hanging around snapping whips to pass the time. Originally these ne'er-do-wells were known simply, and without any great linguistic imagination, as 'whip snappers'. This term merged with an existing 17th century term for street rogues - 'snipper snappers', to become 'whipper snapper'. Christopher Marlowe mentions 'snipper snapper' in the 1604 edition of The Tragicall History of Doctor Faustus, when referring to a 'hey-pass', which is what street jugglers were known as in Marlowe's day.
But I'll seeke out my Doctor... O yonder is his snipper snapper... You, hey-pass, where's your master?
The meaning of 'whipper snapper' has altered over the years, originally referring to a young man with no apparent get up and go, to be applied to a youngster with an excess of both ambition and impudence.

Wow. I was so not expecting an actual answer.

We. Really. Need. News.

A. Wonder Woman in pants
B. Wonder Woman in "swimming suit"

Let's say we're going from A to B. Wonder Woman costume has pants and we're going to give her a swimming suit. The argument: "we want to give her skimpy clothes because they're empowering to women". Bull****.

Now, let's say we're going from B to A. From swimming suit to pants. Why?
*"We want to give her pants because skimpy clothes are disrespectful towards the character". Bull****, too. Sounds like some kind of conservative feminism.
**"We want to give her pants because it fits the whole theme of the movie." Makes sense.

Of course I have my personal preferences, but in the end, what really matters is the way she is portrayed.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It actually has my birthdate on my profile I think but yeah I just turned 25 so I'm not that young. I actually had a quarter life crisis last year. :o:oldrazz:

I was going to be really snotty and say "Google is your friend" but then I got genuinely curious myself so I did just that. :oldrazz::oldrazz::oldrazz:

I thought Whippersnapper was just an old punk band I used to listen to when I was younger? :o

You're not the youngest. There's some folks in their teens here.

jaymes, you could never be snotty... You're too old now to be snotty. :oldrazz: :word:

Out of curiosity where did we land on clay origin or daughter-of-Zeus origin?

I'm really curious as to what Grant Morrison has planned for WW:E1, as he says he doesn't like the clay origin, but likes the idea that just a woman created a child. So he's come up with something new. Color me intrigued.
