The actress does not need to be 100-60-100, quit with the strawmen.

The issue with Gadot is that she is far below average in the strength department. For whatever reason, they went to the Twiggy extreme. Out of all the names in consideration for WW, Gadot was literally the skinniest and weakest, by a large margin.

She looks like a catwalk model, not like an athlete.

I do think Snyder and the costume department will make a big difference though. Snyder used Superman's costume to help him look powerful. While I don't want the costumers to do silly things like pad Gadot's breasts or whatever, there are costume designs that can help her look bulkier in areas like the shoulders. Also, she still has more time to train.

By the way she looked like that before, right now I don't think so. We need to see the characterization to judge that department.

There are many of woman with decent builds out there. Gina Caranno and Adrienne Palicki were both considered for the role. Alternatively, Snyder has worked with Abbie Cornish before.

Gina Carano's face doesn't look as WW nothing though. And her look makes you think that she's an average amazon.

But you know what would be better than covering up a weak build? Showing off a strong build. You say that Superman's suit made him look powerful, but I don't think Cavill needs any help to look powerful. The suit accentuates what was already there, it's not creating an illusion.

This was just a weird casting choice. However, now that it's done, we should expect a suit which is flattering to Gadot. That means a relatively covered-up suit.

I agree that she looks like a catwalk model. She is very thin. Sometimes, I think she looks too thin in photos. However, I have noticed some improvements in some recent photos.

I do think the suit will be more covered up, but I don't think it would just be to "camouflage" a waif build. Although thin, she is tall. I think they can work with that and flatter that. She just needs to be toned in key areas that they do show, like the arms. Cavill's suit did accentuate what he had and I think Gal's can follow the same principle. There is something for them to work with there.

I do sort of agree that this casting choice is a bit out there, but I trust the judgement of Snyder and his casting team. They must have seen something in her. There's been some amazing castings in Snyder movies.

I have more concern for her characterization of Diana than I do her look, and that's as much about the script and direction as it is Gal herself. I want a competent, charming, compassionate and heroic Diana. We don't have much to go on to really know what Gal is going to do. The general vibe she gives off in interviews though fills me with great hope. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt on this.

This is Palicki BTW:

She's not a 20 year-old Stephanie Seymour, but she looks athletic. Her arms have substantially more definition than the median American male.

She doesn't have to be huge, she just has to look a little dense. Catwalk models are just skin and bone, there's no muscle there. Same as Angelina Jolie in her more recent action roles, where she looked a little ridiculous kicking butt.

The point is that there were several options available, if they wanted to go for an athletic build. For whatever reason, they did not want an athletic build for Diana, they wanted a waif-build. Either that, or Snyder has too much confidence in the trainers who built Gerard Butler and Henry Cavill.

I still don't see why people are comparing Jaimie Alexander & Gal Gadot and making it seem as if Jaimie woke up & was just athletic. She worked for that physique, & continues to work diligently to maintain it. Gal can and will be doing the same.

But yeah shes a little more defined than Gal now but not so much. And yeah she had 2 movies of training for the role. Gal can achieve whatever she wants.

You had a point going with Palicki, but you lost me on Jaimie. People have vastly overstated her physique. When all is said and done, Gal's final shape will barely be discernible from Jaimie's if she would have nabbed the role instead.
