Either that or she was the best option available in a world where no perfect option is ever available.

I doubt he wouldn't be able to get the actress he wanted. Yet he choose Gadot. It's safe to say she will look like how Snyder envision Diana, which is not to say she will look like any given person wants her to look.

This...just because a character looks one way in the comics doesn't mean they will look that way in the movies. Gal will get in what ever shape Snyder wants her to be.

When a particular actress/actor is selected on the final list of probables, the physical trainer (Say Twight) gives the director a fair idea about how much progress can be expected for that particular individual in the given amount of time, taking into consideration the physique, frame and body type of that actor.

So, I am sure Snyder has some realistic expectations of how much improvement Godot can achieve, still he has selected her.

Twight posted that right around the time it was announced that Gal Gadot had been cast as Wonder Woman. Just saying.

I doubt that Snyder could get whatever he wanted.

How you figure? Not that any actress would just drop whatever other project she might be working on and jump in with both feet, but the point here is simple: is there any evidence to support the idea that Gadot was picked because Snyder choices were limited? And that she is somehow a comprimise?

:hubba:hrt::hrt: Diana!!!

Was he 220 pounds when he was CAST as Superman? You see my point?
This.
Yep. :word:

I also want to add that I don't feel that Gal has to become Sophie Arvebrink to be good or convincing as WW. Quite frankly... I am far more interested in what sort of fight choreography training she's doing than I am in her weight lifting or what have you. How she moves in a fight sequence as the Amazon's Ambassador of Peace and also it's ultimate Mistress of War just seems more important to me than the size of her quads and lats ect.
Which do you think will be the fighting style Wondy is going to do in this?
A video can help. :D

So this is Gal, our wonderful WW.

reeve had to work his ass off though. if the man was 185 when cast, at 6'4, that's not that different from gadot.

i remember reading they passed on reeve initially because he was too skinny.

Agreed. we need to wait to see her performance. THAT is WHAT MATTERS.

Nice post.

Some just can't see that maybe the production saw smth in Gal that screams WW.

I'm not sure what the big deal is about her size and frame. One of cinema's most bad-ass characters was The Bride from Kill Bill. And she was the exact same frame as Gal. It's all about the characterization and writing. No matter the frame.

That's not how the human body works, and I'm sure Snyder is aware.

what I mean is that Snyder knows what his WW will look like or how he wants Gal to look like as WW...we don't. There is no guarantee that she will be as ripped as the comics...they may want to emphasize that her strength does not come from her muscles but from the gods. There is a reason the three women up for the role had similar body types.

See, I agree with that. We are going to get a slim WW who's physical strength will be evident by what she does on screen, not by how ripped she looks. Sure, they are putting Gal through physical training for the role but I wonder how much of it is for aesthetic purpose and how much of it is simply to prepare Gal for the rigours of the role [much like Twight said that's what he did with the actors in MOS]. If memory serves she said she was doing a lot of judo and weapons training.

With this in mind what I don't understand is posts which imagine whenever there is a new photo that she's getting massive arms or something when any evident gains are negligible. Its like she's going to be lean, the sooner people accept that the less of a bums rush they are eventually going to get, if theyre expecting some sort of amazing transformation. Twight is a trainer, not a miracle worker.

I don't think anyone who has been supportive of Gal as Wonder Woman has an unrealistic expectation of her achieving mass gains, even with Mark Twight as her trainer. I fully expect her just to be lean and toned, nothing more. I mean, I personally never expected her to get as big as Gina Carano, that's for sure.

Ah, modern science:

(and no i dont think Ms. Gadot in particular is using steroids or hgh. If Snyder wanted a ripped Wondie, he wouldnt have hired a skinny model with upper arms the diameter of a pencil)

This is the second time in two days that you refer to her physique in such a rude manner. Feel free to talk about exercise routine and everything else involving her routine, but grow the hell up.

It's like some people see Gadot as an anorexic. I mean there are some who think JLaw is obese...

I don't mind ppl talking about her physical frame or her not being their number one choice, but I'm sure they can find a way to do it without sounding like a prick or throwing jabs at the girl.

My choice was Gemma Arteton.

Gemma was my choice too, but I got over it and now fully support Gal. I wish more people would stop the endless criticism of Gal when we have seen nothing from her as Diana.

Gemma would be my choice too. But I bet the discussion then would be she being too short vs camera tricks.

I was open to Gemma, and to Elizabeth Debicki. I had never heard of Gal. But I'm glad Gal got the role, and it was someone who was completely not on my radar. AT ALL. She was a very pleasant surprise and a breath of fresh air. And the good thing is that I'll completely associate her as WW because that's all I will know her for.

I feel like Gal will either be really awesome or really sucky as Wonder Woman.

That being said, for gentle Diana and confident Wonder Woman, I'm already sold. If she can play fierce, she'll probably be just fine for this movie and JL. If she has to act sad or angry, I'll be a little more uneasy ;)

I'm not really "sold" on Gal yet. Her acting experience is very limited. However, she comes off warm in interviews and pics (when she's not making silly faces) and I believe in waiting for the performance to judge. I'm not really sold on Affleck either because I haven't liked some of his past work, but again, he seems like a nice dude and has done some good work. In the case of both, I am waiting to see how they act in the roles before labeling them perfect castings, in-between, or complete miscasts.

^ I was talking about those particular aspects. I'm still very nervous. Snyder usually has strong female actresses (Headey/Polley/Antje, etc.) but Wonder-Woman can't afford a person (often not helped by bad writing/directing) botching her role.

Though if anyone can bring WW to life within an ensemble movie, I think it's Zack.
