Why does she need to?

Honestly, I don't really understand why there's this downplaying of the symbol of strength that WW is. We can all agree Superman is a symbol of strength and should look the part, but for WW there's either apathy towards her looking that way, or need to justify various body types and make excuses simply because one doesn't like girls looking big and strong. Perhaps part of it is the later, I know some blokes don't like athletic women who look like they can beat them in a fight. Dunno really.

You don't have to LOOK strong to BE strong. That's where the issue lies.

Gal Gadot is truly beautiful, she is really amazingly beautiful, subtle and charming, but for WonderWoman, I think she's too thin.
She may be bulking up in the months to come, but weirdly enough, my first thought when I heard she was cast was: "Oh the girl from F&F? they should have cast Gina Carano". I mean Carano is cute, looks the part, she is clearly "warrior" enough, andshe clearly know how to *****ing fight, and bottom line... already in love with Superman's Cavill.

Ugh. No to Gina Carano. And she doesn't look cute either.

where Gadot is standing next to Carano, Gal clearly looks more like Wonder Woman and has a better presence and physical beauty. You can really see it with the side by side comparison.

Gal is leagues better than Carano. Gina doesn't look at all like a princess but more like a cage fighter. She might look like a warrior, but that's only one aspect of Wonder Woman.

I will say I definitely prefer her for the role over Carano. I never got the love for that one.

I also have to say I really like Gadot's voice for WW. Accent and all. It's not that I think WW should sound specifically like an Israeli, but I do think she shouldn't sound American, and frankly, I wouldn't be able to place her accent if I didn't know where she was from, and I have a feeling a large portion of the audience wouldn't be able to either. It's not the same as if it were simply an English, Scottish, Spanish or one of those more commonly recognizable accents that people are used to hearing in movies and are usually able to place right away. I think it's the best kind of accent for this character to have, honestly.

I wouldn't get any unrealistic hopes about Gadot making a drastic transformation. Cavill did quite a bit a of weight training long before Superman. Gadot has very little time to prep for her role and we don't even know the vision WB has for her. That said I like Gadot's enthusiasm and I think she will give us a great performance.

But keep in mind she is tall and comes from a modelling background. Don't expect Zena and you won't be disappointed. I fully expect her to look as good or better than Jaime Alexander from Thor whom I didn't consider to be that muscular either.

There have been plenty of various renderings of Wonder Woman in the comics that don't depict her as overly muscular, anyway. The main picture on her Wikipedia page is one example.

In the 60s this was ideal for feminine and beauty for a woman. I don't know why it changed or how it changed.

The male and female physical ideal is different, or is usually different, since the prevailing view on this board is that we want women to look an awful lot like men but with long hair and lipstick.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, people. Regardless of your own preferences, it's unnecessary (especially on this board) to suggest that a certain body type is somehow "ugly" or too manly for whatever reason. By all means, get your point across, but try to refrain from the disparaging comments.

Though I do want to her an Americanish accent for WW (or at least tone her own down). Maybe it's just because it's what I'm used too. It'd also be cool if she had a deep voice

I wouldn't judge Carano from that clip. She is very nice in all her interviews and down to earth. Never says anything bad about anyone. She had her face blown up on the jumbotron in that clip and probably felt awkward being the center of attention during that fight.

As much as the media celebrates thin model-esque women, it also sensationalizes full boobs and think asses.

Either way people will complain about marginalization. All you can do is follow your direction. I for one think this woman brings alot of great tools. A regality I've never seen in any of these CBM's for starters.

I've still would of preferred Carano over Gadot, Gina just seems more plausible to carry a Wonder Woman franchise. I don't think height will be an issue there are plenty of ways to make someone appear bigger onscreen(ala Tom Cruise or RDJ).We're still quite a ways from 2015 so I'll give Gal Gadot the benefit of the doubt for now.

Gal Gadot won Miss Israel and went on to represent her country in Miss Universe. I mentioned that not to say that WW should be winning Miss Universe but that Gadot herself is a true beauty queen in real life and that her beauty is miles above Carano's. As I mentioned, I don't see Carano winning a beauty contest. She just isn't in the same league as Gadot.

Exactly what I was thinking. And I had these same thoughts with Jaimie Alexander. You can't cast someone who is supposed to be the most beautiful, but then have the underlings in Themyscira be more attractive than her. I never got that feel from reading the comics and watching the animations that any of the other Amazons were better looking than WW.

So by all means, cast Jaimie Alexander and Gina Carano as Amazons, but Gadot is the person for WW. Snyder will mold her body into WW shape.
