BvS Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman! - Part 2

Nothing wrong with the later.

I always try to find the positive in something, which is why I enjoy nearly every movie I watch. Life is too short to be a nitpicker :oldrazz:

Gal may or may not be a good WW but I don't care, I will still enjoy the movie and her presence in it.

She would have to absolutely knock it out of the park. The problem being is that I don't think the character is going to be a big part of the movie.

I hope not. This movie shouldn't be about WW. They still need to develop the relationship between Lois and Superman more. I hope it's only a cameo. The villains need screen time too.

Diane Lane was great in MOS, I'm glad that she's coming back.

I found Lane's Martha Kent very convincing as well. Her performance was one of the high points of the film for me.

It's like you guys can't fathom the idea that Gadot might just be a good actor who hasn't gotten a chance to fully display it lol. I remember when some Australian poster came on here and apologized on the behalf of all aussies when Chris Hemsworth was cast as Thor based only on what he had shown in Home & Away.

It's hilarious to me to read some of these posts.
Hemsworth has improved a lot since the first Thor. He was not a great actor by any stretch of the imagination during that first Thor. He was fine but he had charm, size, and he was funny. He looked like the character coming to life and the movie was fun for a lot of people. This is what sold people on Hemsworth. He's improved quite a bit since. But he was by no means fantastic.

This is the case with Chris Evans too but he fits Captain America. Affleck is in the same realm. I think he'll nail Bruce Wayne/Batman along with Zack's visuals and the material he's given. But Ben is not a great actor by any stretch of the imagination either.

The reasons why having a hot actress in the role is not enough to be positive is because...
1. I've seen many attractive women before, don't need to pay money to look at one, especially considering that she will be wearing clothes.

2. Wonder Woman is not Ultraviolet. She is not Bloodrayne. Wonder Woman is not meant to be just eye candy for losers to drool over in a theater. There's a phrase for it in feminist circles (that I can't spell out due to it being censored): The Fighting *cough* Doll. It's this concept that movie studios PRETEND to have a strong woman, but really it's just slow-mo shots of cleavage and action that mostly involves contorting in ways to turn men on. Wonder Woman deserves to be above that, and no "she was treated like that in the comics for years" is not a valid reason to treat her like that on film in 2013.

I still don't think Evans is all that great as Cap. He's easily the most replaceable lead actor in the Marvel CU.

I wonder how long it'll be before we get a decent synopsis for the mash-up sequel.

I've said it already but I'll say it again. No one has come out to say how great the script is or how good these ideas are. People are still scratching their heads trying to make sense of it all or how it can fit together. The problem is that throwing this many people into the party you are forced to figure out ways how to include them all. Instead of telling a great story and adding characters as you need them.

:woot: I actually agree with this. Im not the biggest fan of Evans, i think he tries too hard and falls flat most of the time. He's the most replaceable out of the bunch, but im also not a fan of Captain America. Who i find to be a cheesy, old school American soldier who can come off as a bit wooden under Evans' acting. But i actually think it fits for that reason. Evans fits the cornball that it is "Steve Rogers" lol.

Great post.

Id bet 2 million right now if i had it, that she'll be used this way and that's why Gadot was the perfect choice. And im not OK with it since i want a WW origin film that takes place on Themyscira. That's played by a very good actress, who is able to convey every emotion she's supposed to convey. To deliver monologues if she has to and have me feeling like "God im feeling this character and even though she's beautiful, she's a DAMN good actress".

I dont see this happening with Gal. Im OK with it if she looks right from training months on end, and the costume looks cool, voice is cool, fighting is awesome, has some chemistry with Bruce or Clark. But she'd only be a side feature in 2 or 3 movies where she's either not on the poster or one of several. That's not what i wished to happen.

Okay... so why can't we all just give Gadot the benefit of the doubt and assume that she's capable of going down a similar path to Hemsworth? She's eerily similar to him pre-Thor.

It's like the writers thought "Superman walks into the bar and meets...Batman and Wonder Woman!"

Brilliant!

#THIS

those who has known me for a while knows how important the matter of WW is to me, so forgive me to be a bit skeptical of Ms. Gadot. Yes she is a beautiful woman but I have yet to see a single movie she's been in (luckily perhaps for my research that her movie resume is a little thin. like her. *cough*) BUT I do remember the likes of Jolie and CZJ when they were a buncha no names in cheesy movies, so I will keep that in mind when I look into Gal's work. But what was unmistakable about Jolie and CZJ even back then was how they command the screen when they were on. Does Gal have that COMMANDING PRESENCE, so inherent for the Amazon Princess even more than just her appearance? That remains to be seen.

Well, at least she can't be worse than Megan Fox and Gina Carano, two actresses that I've seen others wanting to get the role, especially the latter.

I wanted Olga or Carano for WW but i'm perfectly fine with Gal Gadot.

Gina Carano is not winning any Oscars quite yet...but she could likely beat the crap out of Cavill and Affleck at the same time. From what I hear, her acting is improving, she does have the proper look, and she can be believable in fight scenes.

Gadot, as far as I can tell, would be fairly high on the list of women I'd want to see in a celebrity sex tape. Not sure how that translates to Wonder Woman though.

I can see why they picked Gal.

She has this spark in her face, her voice/accent, and in her attitude. She seems very full of life, much like Wondy. I believe 'magical' is the word Snyder used.

Her foreignness also seems to play well with a Geoff Johns New 52esque WW.

Plus, she's a badass who's face is very WW. I don't care how thin she is.

My only concern is with heavy drama, crying scenes, etc, which may be required of her in a solo film (if we ever get one).

Carano doesn't have the proper look. WW shouldn't just look like a cage fighter and nothing else. Carano doesn't look at all like a princess or a beauty goddess. She looks like an above average looking athlete, which might put her nearer the top in that category, but still nowhere in the same league as Gadot who is an actual beauty queen.

Yeah, i love her and for a tough girl she looks like a nice person.

Sadly, I agree. :(

Ironically, I feel like he's the most sympathetic character in TA. And I felt like his performance as Cap is subtle, but powerful. Also, never forget ;)

Heck, just looking at all the negative comments at his announcement makes me hopeful.

"I have nothing against Evans (I actually liked Push) but he's more a comedian than an actor. He was an okay Johnny Storm but Captain America is not funny. And no matter how you look at it, after having superheroes portrayed Christian Bale, Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Jackman and Edward Norton, this is a letdown. -Complete with multiple thumbs up
:D
