BvS Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman! - Part 9

And I'd be even happier if Wonder Woman was a well-written, three-dimensional character with clear development and motivation and an independent role that wasn't directly tied to the stories of either Superman or Batman.

Yep. This is why I found it strange that the fan generated idea that her origin MUST be tied into Krypton in some way gained so much traction. It's baffling. She can't just be an adjunct to Superman's story.

If you look at some of Lynda Carter's early pictures, she was not overly "endowed" but just right for her shoulder / hip size. The bustier of her costume actually enhanced her a bit too much.

I think once Gal has gained muscle and some of her feminine padding back, she is going to be given a costume that plays her up as in "wow what a figure!" vs "Wow what bazungas!" Her super long skinny legs will make the boots look a lot better in translation to the big screen. So the two areas some people may be concerned about either won't translate as other than perfect for her improved frame, or in case of her legs, will be balanced by her boots.

You can buy bewbies...you can't buy long legs (Yes, I'm short, and wish I was taller, LOL)

So....Gal's cup size is STILL an issue to people?

No. The size of her breasts was never the issue, the media just said that to make us fans look like immature idiots. The problem has always been that Wonder Woman is supposed to be a role model for women, showing what women are actually capable of. So her being played by your typical skeletal supermodel, cast only for her looks, the type of actress that's in every other Hollywood film is precisely the opposite of the point of Wonder Woman. It's perpetuating negative body image for young women, when Wonder Woman is about showing what a real woman can be. It has nothing to do with bustiness, the problem is that she has your basic supermodel body type, where any excess fat or muscle is a bad thing. But Gal's supporters and the media manipulate these grievances to make us look like sexist pigs who only care about Wonder Woman looking attractive, when the opposite is in fact true. All I want is for young women to have a role model like Wonder Woman, and Gal Gadot is not the person to do that. The fact that she cannot act does not help either.

Yes it actually was to a great many people. The media doesn't need to make fans look like idiots when they do it themselves. That's why someone asked her about it. Go find the Yahoo news article announcing her...or just look through the past few pages.

Umm... WW was always going to be cast with an eye toward beauty, but I fail to see what is wrong with having a former member of the IDF and a fitness instructor play WW. And while you may not have personally made comments about her bust size there's more than enough posters right her on the Hype that prove that for them it is a problem, granted, one I fail to see. Is Gal thin? Yeah. Again, she is not unhealthily so though, and the pics of her post workout tell me that no, we aren't going to get a WW that is going to make girls anorexic because they are not thin like her. I hope instead that at worst, they think they can hit the gym to live a healthy lifestyle and at best, skinny, athletic, heavy or inbetween, we get a WW that inspires young women and girls to live up to their potential as much as they can no matter how they look. I really can't tell what kind of performance we'll get from Gal. It could be wooden. But if the woman from the interviews I have seen her in shows up in any shape or form on screen, we'll have something good at least and maybe even something great if the stars align.

I am glad some of these fans are not studio execs...

Reporter: Can you explain why the Batman film is taking so long?
Fanboi exec: We are waiting for an actor who has witnessed his parents death at age nine and left with a billion dollar empire who went off and became a ninja detective to audition for the role.

Reporter: Can you explain the delays on Fantastic Four?
Fanboi exec: Can't find anyone with a rocky body cause by exposure to cosmic rays.

Is Gal thin? Yeah. Again, she is not unhealthily so though

This looks pretty unhealthy to me. I don't really want a Wonder Woman who looks like she might blow away with a strong gust of wind.

Adrienne Palicki, Lynn Collins, and Jamie Alexander would have been better choices imo, though I might change my mind when i watch the movie.

Eh, it's an issue for people. Someone was literally talking about it a page or two back. Someone else was going on about it a couple days ago. I've seen a few comments about it on this board both recently and when she was first announced. She was even asked about it in an interview. It's really quite ridiculous.

IMO the absence of any chest on her is just part of her whole twiggy look. If it were just the small breasts alone it wouldn't be an issue, there are plenty of beloved and popular actresses in Hollywood who don't look like Monica Bellucci. However, in the case of Gal Gadot, she looks like a lanky twelve year old girl and her narrow chest is an obvious aspect for people to grab onto since it's the first or second thing a lot of people notice.

Ideally she should be nearly as good-looking a woman as Henry Cavill is a man since the roles are supposed to be complementary.

Some people are pretty specific about her breasts, not her overall thinness. The dude that made that comment a couple pages back even mentioned a specific cup size. People expect the actress to be in line with their specific preferences and pick apart her body if she isn't. It's an issue that's especially pronounced with superhero movies.

Holy ****ing ****... is this still being discussed? Gal Gadot in quite a few of her swimwear photos seems to have the "assets" all these chauvinist mouth breathers expect her to have.

Another point people seem to miss, conveniently, is that it's conducive to her PROFFESSION to be built how she is. As soon as her PROFESSION calls for a difference she'll most likely be able to comply. It's literally as easy as working out and eating more.

When paparazzi pictures come out of the latest female celebrity that "looks anorexic" people don't spaz out about her "being" that way, they just advocate that she eats a few burgers. Apparently for Gadot her physique is set in stone though going off what people on here are saying.

boobs aren't an issue for me but acting is I don't want WW to act wooden
and for boobs the costume can get fake abs, boobs whatever .

I'd say her boobs look a nice size, and definitely not flat-chested at all:

How would you react if a lanky man, say someone 6'5 and 160 lbs, had been cast to play Clark Kent or Captain America? Would it bother you? I think it would bother a lot of people. Some critics might obsess over particular symptoms like narrow forearms, but really they'd be unhappy with the "big" picture, pun intended.

A lanky man who was 6'4" WAS cast to play Clark Kent. His name was Christopher Reeve. He was very skinny when he first auditioned before he started working out.

Gal will be fine.

It's great if she can put on 10-15 lbs of lean body mass, but that takes a very long time to do. She was cast in the fall and filming starts in spring.

You know those ads you see of method to put on 25 lbs of muscle in a summer? They're not for real.

Even if it is an issue for people (I, personally, thought she was too thin overall, but I'm more concerned about her actig ability). But she is working out for the role. That will require her to eat more food: more food, bench press= higher bf and larger ta-tas :o.

People just shouldn't yet criticise what isn't the final product. That picture she uploaded a few days ago was probably because she's been very skinny for the past, what, 15 years? She was probably really proud of that progress (even if those of us who do regularly lift, know it's not amazing progress) and she got slated for it, even though we have proof she's actively trying to remedy the problem.

The comicbook community, folks!

Reeve weighed over 200 lbs when playing the role.

If someone that looked nothing like Clark Kent was cast, I wouldn't like it. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people nitpicking actors that look like the character overall. People still needle Cavill's height now and then. And more specifically, I'm talking about people that think WW's breast size is what's important about her. They don't need to make her breasts look bigger in her costume. They need to write the character well and Gal needs to play her well. She has WW's face and height. I'm not going to make excuses for people that say stuff like "WW always has C-cups! She needs them in the movie." It's just...rather unpleasant and reductive. If people want to complain about her overall look, fine. But these specific nitpicks are just that...nitpicks.

I agree with you about nitpicking breast size, but I do think that very few would be commenting on her breasts if she had the overall look. Subconsciously the way we think about bodies is quite complex, but consciously it's often just reduced to "boobs, butt, legs" due to media indoctrination. Thus, I think that people are commenting on Gadot's breasts as an ignorant manifestation of their general discomfort with her body type.

She'll gain weight a lot faster than that. I imagine they'll have her doing a "healthy" equivalent of a dirty bulk (Oxymoronic, I know) where she'll be eating a lot in addition to working out.

Further I think she'll be showing a lot less skin than her comic book iterations, and she'll have a silhouette-creating outfit that will emphasize how much mass she's gained. Her being a runway model means that she's probably been below her "natural" weight for a long time, it won't be difficult to get her back up to it.

Maybe. Who knows. It certainly doesn't come off very well in either case.

It is always difficult for ectomorphs to put on mass and in particular lean mass.

Where was it mentioned she was an ectomorph?

If she is an ectomorph I definitely agree with your statement, but I would think there's a possibility she has a normal body type and metabolism and that she's just manipulated it well because she's a model. Tyra Banks was once very similar to Gadot in terms of overall appearance (Bar the additional curves) but after she stopped being a runway model her physique altered dramatically.

I think she's going to look a lot better than the catastrophizing nerd population fears she will. Even two months is sufficient to achieve a surface change. She won't be a crossfit beast, but she'll look the part.
