Gambit or Deadpool

I am not arguing against Deadpool being added for money, because that is completely possible as well. But I was saying how if Gambit was added for the money then, they might give him more screentime than other members of the cast. Otherwise it would defeat the purpose of having him in it. Now this is IF they did it for the purpose of garnering more money, maybe they did it because it would make the movie a masterpiece. At first I was positive that this ($$$) is why they added Gambit but now I am looking at it in a different way.

I don't understand that last part though. Ryan Reynolds is a Deadpool fan, a good comical actor, a decent actor (Smokin Aces), how does this mean that its a money grabbing movie? And on who's account?

Your biggest selling point was that Gambit is just being added for the extra cash, whereas Deadpool has ties to Weapon X. I'm saying that Deadpool's ties aren't what got him into the film, either.

And it's a money grabbing move by Fox, and whoever else put Deadpool in. Ryan Reynolds has been vocal about playing the character, so they said, hey, let put Deadpool in there and get Reynolds, a well known actor that will draw folks to the theater, to come out and play the part.

I see.
Even though Deadpool was added for the money that dosn't mean he and Gambit are at an even point. Deadpool still has the history, it may not be what got him into the film but at least the writer won't have to make up a way to put him in the Weapon X story, because it's already there.

Gambit isn't part of the Weapon X story so the writer will have to weave him into the story in whatever way he chooses, now adding him in is good for this film, but could trash a future story in the X-men franchise. I maintane my view of Deadpool being the easier and more natural character to put in the movie.

Whew... wouldn't want the writers to, you know, have to do their jobs. We might as well just rip everything right out of one of Wolvie's books and put it on screen.

Why did you even start this thread, iby the way, if you already had your mind made up? Seems to me that, as far as you're concerned, Deadpool is more important, hands down, and no discussion or debate will effect that.

Annoying sarcasm just makes you look like an *******. I wasn't saying that writing Gambit in was bad or good I was just stating that they had to write him in. I'm not an idiot, I know that writers write, its what they do.

I wanted to know what other fans thought about it. Is that so hard to understand? I may have chosen Deadpool, but it's not like my opinion can't change.
Debating with you and others has effected my thoughts "At first I was positive that this ($$$) is why they added Gambit but now I am looking at it in a different way." that is proof that other peoples sides of the debate have effected my own.

They also had to write Deadpool in. And Beak. And Blob. And John Wraith. And Sabes. And Stryker.

They didn't just pull some Weapon X storyline out of the comics for this thing. They picked a bunch of Weapon X characters and wrote an original story, based on a few stories. Hell, I'd bet most of the comics they used to define Wolvie's origin were written long before he was tied to Deadpool.

And thanks for the low blow. Sarcastic though I may be, I haven't resorted to outright insulting people on a message board yet.

I understand what you are saying and I can agree with it now. All I am saying is that it may be easier to put Deadpool in because he has more direct ties to Wolverine, so writing him in is more natural. Thats it.

Yeah that insult was outa line, didn't mean to be a jerk. I actually thought you were hiding an insult in your sarcasm originally so I jumped to conclusions.

Are you kidding me? Deadpool has more direct ties to Wolverine? You're saying this knowing that Gambit and Wolverine have been in the same team for years?! His direct connections with Gambit far outweigh his connection with Deadpool. The only facilitating factor here is the lfact that this is a prequel. However, seeing as I don't see anybody around here crying over the fact that Mastodon, Kestrel or Omega Red aren't in the movie, I'm not even sure why we're arguing anymore.

Kestrel is John Wraith... or at least one of his aliases. Check out wikipedia:

I want Omega Red in.

As for Gambit, he does have a history with Sabertooth that they could somehow bring up and he decides to join Wolverine. For all we know, Nathaniel Essex could work for Weapon X,and we have the mutant massacre on our hands.

I doubt that. The mutant massacre doesn't have anything to do with Wolvie's origin. I would like to see a connection between Gambit and Sabretooth though.

Neither does Gambit. Since the first X-Men movie, they really haven't gone by the comics that much. I was just saying that anything is possible.

I would honestly prefer Deadppol in Wolverine not just because he is a sort of more cooler character but to see how he would be developed in a actual live action film, im not saying Gambit is dumb or anything but he seems like a character that may be easy to develop other than deadpool.

"You Wanted Me Here I Am"

Deadpool. To set up for a spin-off which could make tons of money if good.

Why do Gambit fans get such a 'uncompromising fanboy' stereotype thrust upon them?

Anyway, I love both characters so much, Deadpool will have less of a role than Remy I speculate, no matter how relevant Wade is to Wolvie's past in the comics. This is the movieverse and they can, basically, do whatever they want.

My anticipation for both characters is sky high and I honestly can't say who I'm looking forward to more, I just think Remy will have the bigger role.

What makes you say that? What was the longest run for a Deadpool solo series?

Only recently characters that have been house hold names and carried their own books for years are having decent film adaptations made. Why do fans think that every comic character should get their own movie?

Not every character. Just Deadpool. :woot:

He's a funny, action character what doesn't make that seem like he'll make big money. Deadpool's basically John McClane or Rambo except he has super powers & he's crazier.
