Game of Thrones - Non-Booker readers' thread - NO SPOILERS

In the books, Shae often reminds Tyrion that she's a ****e. I think that one of our villains will be Ramsay or Roose. Recall that Roose played a big role in the climax of the Red Wedding.

Roose and Ramsey are definitely the main baddies next season.

Stannis will ally with Jon and wildling leader Manz to battle Roose and Ramsey for the North....especially since Jon is former North Lord Neds son.

That should be awesome to see potentially develop next season. The Starks will get their revenge it seems in some way.

Oh and what of Lady Stoneheart? Will she be introduced next season....I hope so!

@NoLaNitE007 Why are you talking about characters and plot points that haven't happened in the show in this thread? I keep hearing about how this character hasn't appeared yet, and I'm only lucky someone hasn't spoiled enough for me to figure out why it's important. This is the reason I never dipped in any GoT forums.

I thought Arya was stone cold with the stare she gave the hound. That girl has gone through a Walter white like transformation over 4 seasons and she has been my favorite this season apart from Oberyn and Tyrion. I can't wait to see more of what goes on with her character next season, I hope she reunites with Jaquen and gets more training

The finale was a good one as usual. I wanted a bit more though! I don't understand why HBO does not give us a 2 hour season finale of GOTS.

Just do it already....especially since we have to wait for a whole year to see more. Ugh
They don't for one word: Cost.

These episodes can get insanely expensive. Blackwater and The Wall alone were massive expenditures and the expenses on something like GOT is not cheap. To do what you are suggesting means there is less money to go around for other scenes, characters and locations. If they did a two hour finale for this past season, they would have to reduce the budget elsewhere, like say on the previous episode, The Wall, where it was their major battle of the season.

As it is they have stated how they cut scenes, characters, plots and other parts from the books to maintain not just a coherent and reasonable storyline but to keep the costs and budget in check.

I am speculating....I don't know anything for sure for next season. I never read the books and I not spoiling anything.

I get that. However, they save money from other episodes so we can get a 2 hour season finale. HBO is making bank....in the end...the cost of having a 2 hour season finale should not matter that much....unless of course HBO is not doing as well financially as one would think? Plus there are plenty of scenes that are important that can be filmed or shown at low cost when it comes to budget. The big action scenes is where the big chunk of money goes to.

It does seems like she will be reuniting with Jaquen to receive more training.

I hope they don't kill off the Hound in that way and than keep his evil, monster brother the Mountain alive in some way from what it seems after being poisoned by the Prince.

That would be weak....but oh well. The Hound was great!

In that post, you said that you hoped that a certain character, who at no point was mentioned by that name in any episode of GoT, would appear next season. It doesn't help that book readers have been complaining all over the internet about how that character wasn't introduced in the finale. Other than that you used the word "DEFINITELY" when referring to the another plot point. What am I supposed to think?

GoT is one of the only shows that I've been following in a while, but I could never find a decent forum to visit since spoilers get thrown around way too casually in the ones that I've tried. One example from this season alone: I got spoiled on Tywin dying, because someone heavily alluded to it without spoiler tags when discussing Little Finger's said to Robyn about how "everyone dies, even while taking a dump".

So this is the only post I'll be putting in here until I watch some as I'm about 10 minutes in Ep1S1. :p I'll catch up sooner or later.

Wow....someone spoiled that? Grrrrrrr.....

This off season of GOTS is going to be rough on me. I probably am going to want to know what happens next about a few characters. I won't be able to wait a year....I really won't be able to.

Apologies for making it sound like I was spoiling something.

Speculation on the Mountain? I'd like to see him throw down with a Giant at some point down the line.

Let's all tip our hats to Brienne for a sec. In her first appearance, she fought Loras--who's not invincible but tough enough to be a celebrity around these parts--and won. Then she fought Jaime, a legendary swordsman himself who was trying to kill her while she was trying to bring him back alive, and she won again. And here she took on The Hound, one of the most fearsome killers in Westeros, second perhaps only to his big brother, AND WON.

Yeah she's awesome. And I thought it was a really nice touch having her run into Arya for the show (apparently doesn't happen in the books). A great bit of symmetry there and a moment of happiness for Arya, however short.

Yep. Brienne's a ginormous badass, yo.

That frenzy she got into before knocking the Hound off that pseudo-cliff, sweet Jesus! :awesome:

Yeah that was savage, I thought she had lost by that point but obviously she thought not today! Have no idea what happens in the books past this point, so I've no idea if her arc is over or if she gets to do more awesome stuff.

I think this season's break will be the one to make me pick up the books and read them. I'm almost hesitant though. So many great things I like about the series apparently just aren't like that in the books. Like the Hound is never really redeemed, you don't ever end up liking him, which is why Arya leaves him to die in the tv show - that's exactly as it is in the books. And people like Tywin Lannister, who you love in the tv series despite being a b*****d, well in the books apparently he's just a b*****d, not likeable at all.

If the tv show keeps injecting lighter elements into the story, just how dark and depressing a read are the books? :wow:

So far all the filler I've seen on the show has at least been entertaining and adds to the story. I avent read the books, so I don't know if any of the fights they add take away from other characters somewhere down the line, but as far as filler goes this show has some grade A.

Ha I didn't know this thread existed?

I actually recommended something like this back when the show first debuted.

Have any of you un-subed from the book thread? I'm assuming it's un-blacked out spoiler central there now?

Yeah, Brienne would beat Loras every time. I don't think we have much of an idea if she could match up to a fully fit Jaime Lannister though. That fight didn't tell us much. Beating The Hound, even if he was suffering from that wound is a massive feat and puts her into the top bracket of fighters, especially as she even beat the Hound at fighting dirty which she isn't accustomed to and at which The Hound specialises in. After the Oberyn Mountain fight and this one we need to do some recalibration of the rankings of the top fighters of Westeros and some opinions expressed before were blatantly wrong! :woot:

Ned's gotta be up there. He went toe to toe with Jaime.

I agree that Brienne is a badass, but lets be fair here, Jaime was held captive by Robb Stark for months under poor conditions. At the time she fought him, Jaime couldn't have been operating anywhere near his peak performance, as evidenced by the fact that he just gassed out by the end of that fight, plus his hands were chained up.
