Are you sure Ned was back at his castle ? When the direwolf incident happened they were at a village on the way to King's Landing I think
Question of my own : why Ned daughters were with him on the road to King's Landing ?

Question for those who know the story ( answer by yes or no please, no details )
Is Jon Snow the son of Ned and the Queen ( before she was Queen maybe ) ?

Question one: This is something they could have done just a little better on the show. Sansa is going because she's betrothed to Joffery. Arya is going because they want her to become a proper lady. [BLACKOUT]Bran was going to go too but you know what happened there.[/BLACKOUT]

Question two:
This is funny to me but no, just no.

Thanks.
I had this idea when she talking about her lost son to Lady Stark, the dark hair, that he looked like Bran etc

I just ordered the books from Amazon, but because it's free shipping I won't get them until next month at the earliest.

After finished watching ep 2, I want to do the slapping myself. :cmad:

Btw, can anyone tell me why

Catelyn Stark was going to King's Landing? I thought she wanted to go there because her husband Ned was there, but he's back at their keep. Just wondering who she was going to tell about her suspicion about the assassin who went after her comatosed son.

Can't wait to see ep 3.

She's on her way to warn Ned and the kids of the Lannister's treachery. A commoner in that world cannot afford Valerian Steel, only the richest can have that stuff. Think of it as Damascus Steel in this world. In fact, valerian steel is so rear that you can easily figure out who owns it, kinda like who owns the Ferrari on your block.

She also wants to go to the Vale to see her sister, Lisa Arryn, since Jon Arryn (Lisa's Husband, Kat's brother in law, Ned's Brother in law and old commander when he and Robert where knights) was the former Hand Of The King who was murdered.

BTW, I'm loving how the Direwolves are growing. I'm glad they on purpose didnt show the mother very well so you didnt get the scale of the thing. People are gonna be freaking out (mostly next season) when wolves the size of horses are charging into battle next to their Stark, tearing through horse, man and armored knight like f-ing paper. Direwolf battles are some of my favorite scenes.

It's funny how the first reference to them actually being betrothed was an offhanded remark by Robert last week that he and Ned might share grandkids. Now this week Joff is all "my lady." I understand the shorthand on film, but that would have gone a long way to explain why Sansa is going and why she lies for Joff.

I wish they'd explain this better, as well as the part that Sansa is betrothed to Joff (that little bastard), which made her lie to protect him. However, it did came at a high cost for her since her own dire wolf Lady was sacrificed for the injury. I wonder if there'll be a repercussion for this action?

I was very impressed with Bran's dire wolf protecting him from the assassin. If the wolves get to the size of the horse, they'd have to use CGI which would be a shame imo, because I like to see real wolves used in the show.

Btw, once Ned learned about the assassin's attempts on his son, I wonder if that'll make him suspicious of the king and/or his wife?

There are always repercussions man. Nothing happens in a vacuum, everyone saw what happened.

Yes, Bran's wolf never leaves his side now and Kat has finally accepted them. Another thing they didn't do well is show how much Kat and pretty much everyone else at Winterfell hates/fears the direwolves. Hell, all of Winterfell's hounds won't leave the damn stable out of fear of 6 direwolf pups, and that's hundreds of dogs! As for Ned learning everything that's going on, that's dependent on Kat reaching Kings Landing isnt it? Westeros is a very dangerous place. Kidding, but this is one of those unsaid things that I can't give away about the books. As was said before many times, the last few episodes is gonna excite some people and drive others away in droves.

Believe me, it's no shame to have CGI Direwolves. Some of the brutality that's to come they could not have used real animals anyways. The intelligence, the control, etc. Besides, a wolf leaping over ranks of troops into the middle of battle heads, arms, torsos flying like a damn blender going off in the middle of battle.

I hope that they'll handle the dire wolves well, and not make the wolves look like they leaped out of the video games. Btw, I can already sense that Sansa will be having conflicted loyalty between her family and her fiancee/husband Joffrey in the future.

Believe me, if you all think you hate Joffery now...

I'm wondering who his real father is, King Baratheon or Jaime Lannister? If he does become a monster later on I hope he'll meet his end accordingly.

You said you are getting the books so there are certain issues I won't touch till you have read for yourself. There's a lot of room for interpretation, things are not just handed to you, plus there are rumors spread by other characters.

So you're saying that things are not always as it seems in the books?

I want to rip out his heart and shove it down his throat :o

I hate that whole family except for Tyrion.

For some reason, I never hate Draco Malroy in the Potter movies no matter how bad he was toward Potter and his friends, but I really hate Joffrey in just two episodes.

Tyrion just has to issue the line "What happened to the goats?" down the line.
I'll be slightly disappointed if that gets cut. Or "Those are brave men, lets go kill them." So many great lines from this series and Tyrion has about half of them.

We are talking about castle intrigue in it's highest form man. Things happen, but also everyone's a liar to forward their own ambitions or kill or well, anything, it's the Game Of Thrones after all. There are 7 established kingdoms that now bow to Robert in Kings Landing. But who's to say he deserves the throne (the rightful Heirs to the Mad King are across the sea in Pentons). Who's to say that it shouldn't be the Lannisters in Casterly Rock or the Starks in Winterfell, or any of the other houses yet to be mentioned.

Dude, when "Timmet, Son of Timmet" shows up I'm gonna loose it!

A few things....

Arya is shown packing when Snow gives her the sword, so shes travelling with her father.

Yes, I agree this show has done a very good job of making some of the characters unlikeable(The Potter/Malfoy comparison above in a good one)

As for the wolves Id prefer if they used real wolves and stunts, and did a LOTR type effect to increase their size. Agree, I dont want to see live wolves completely replaced by CGI ones.

I'm worried about the cost of this show. A huge cast, lots of FX, has me worried whether theyll complete it or cancel it. After Carnivale and Deadwood I swore of HBO shows, but have enjoyed GoT, and would like to see it finish. Already a large cast, which Im asuming will just get larger as seasons go by, but fav characters seem to be Drogo, Dany,Ned, Snow and Tyrion(whos been great in this).

Hope we get to see some of the baddies on the other side of the wall.

Raiden... About your spoilerized question in post 638 about Joffrey, Im betting on the later.

Im gonna start reading the books, eventually, but will wait until after each season to do so.

Read the books after the season? Really? I say read them now and read them fast. Heck, two of the books take place at the same time, one concerning the characters in the south and the other with the characters in the north ... yes, the story gets that dense.

They'll be dropping characters, storylines and not explaining stuff left and right, I say if you want to read them then do so ASAP. I've read them all several times and there's still stuff that I'm drawing connections with.

But Im enjoying being suprised and not knowing whats next.
Also, Natalia Tena (Tonks from Potter) is playing Osha. Looking foward to see her too.

HBO evaluated the cost and made sure not to do what they did with Deadwood, Carnviale, Rome with the production costs.

They used a budget of $45-50 million for season 1, twice as low as Rome. Mainly because they effectively found locations and sets to film cheaper

Yeah Northern Ireland has cut them massive breaks on the production to film there. They want them to be there for as long as they can.
On a related note I was shocked to learn that True Blood costs about 5 million an episode. So by those numbers they spend about as much on True Blood as they do on Game of Thrones.

What was the blonde princess' handmaids doing to her hands? It seemed weird because it was after Lady Stark grabbed the dagger in the previous scene.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Really? It looks way better than True Blood. Gotta give it up to better filmmakers on that one.

conan69 - I guess one could want to be surprised ... but then you can be surprised reading a book with better drawn plots and characters. What I prefer is watching those great moments I've read happen.
