I don't know, when you see two people screwing on TV, you don't want to think they are related, its kinda gross

Although I haven't read the books (yet), from what I've heard about the story, I think it makes sense why these two siblings would be attracted to each other.

Gross or not it's in the story. There are lots of things in books that are "gross" as you put it. Many things in real life too for that matter. But it's all apart of the story and character building. This is one of the most well integrated stories I've ever read, it stretches across many books and every single page is a pay off.

"Can't wait till around episode 8 or 9 when things get really ugly. I imagine people will be outraged, some might even quit watching."

Chicken, can you put in spoilers or send me a private message what you mean here please. Why would people stop watching?

Dude believe me it's a lot better if you just let the story unfold. But if you seek out spoilers they're not that hard to find.

There's a reason I didnt say, or anyone else didnt say. Even in the deep discussions of the story before the show premiered and the topic got this active we didnt touch that one (go back and look, the first few pages of this very thread has lots of the same details people are moaning about putting in spoilers). There are a few events in the books/show that you have to experience cold.

I'll say this though. Even after the events of the first book/season. The story continues to get better.

Wouldn't it be funny if they wussed out or somehow softened the impact of certain events? Off screen or some thing like that.

Oh, as for the previous episode. When Ned asked The Dog about the butcher boy and he said "He ran, but not very far." I think there was a missed opportunity there for a really good scene there to really drive home The Dog and indeed his brother The Mountain Who Rides (gotta love those nicknames, I just can't bring myself to saying Sandor and Gregor) as true Darth Vader, boogeyman type characters.

I really liked the second episode, this show is ****ing grade A.

So each season is based on the events of one book in the series? I hope that means HBO will greenlight a season for each book.

Not strictly 1 book per season because there are 2 books that happen at the same time, one concerning the characters in the south, the another concerning the characters in the North, Summer Isles and across The Narrow Sea. At a certain point it's gonna get really clipped I think, at this point it's moving along quite nicely, but important things about the world that you would have known in the first chapters most people would have no idea of.

Godswood? Heart tree? Septa? Maester? How does one become a knight? The messed up seasons and how it helps drive people's desperation. Etc.

I am loving watching this with my wife. I have read the book and love seeing it come to life. My wife has not read the book so watching her being introduced to the story is an added bonus. She actually cried at the end of the second episode.

I was like “told you it was a great story.” :yay:

They should do 6 season...

Books 4 and 5 should be season 4

one season at a time, folks....HBO gave it a season 2....people just need to watch and keep liking it and all that

HBO has also done part2s to seasons before. Entourage and The Sopranos are examples. I think they came to 18 or 20 eps total per season combining the 2 ( normal 12 then part 2 6 months later), so if theyre worried about loosing too much in a regular 12 ep season spanning 2 books, thats always a option.

Agreed...but our Author is as lazy as one gets...the next book needs to come out in 2 years or HBO will have caught up by then.

The new one hits shelved in July. I think with the TV show chugging along in good hands (because GRRM was very involved in the whole process leading up and it got in the way of his writing) he can focus on his books.

It's a pain having to wait for a new episode every week. I've half a mind to go into hibernation until the show, if not the books, finishes.

As for the show itself, with only eight episodes left, I'm already dreading the season finale, but only because it's so near and I'm greedy for longer seasons. And so far, it's proceeding as more than I could've hoped for, even with the minor changes, which seem trivial when compared to the overall faithfulness the show is maintaining to the books.

Not that Tyrion getting in an extra slap to Joffrey when there were only two in the book was not a welcome change. I'm sure lots cheered for that. When it comes to Joffrey, the little bastard (heh), the writers were probably tempted to push the number of slaps into double digits.

That's the plan up untill book 3. Book 3 is too large and too important to the overall story to condense into 10 episodes. So if we get to season 4 I think it will contain the remainder of book 3 plus some content of book 4 and the forthcoming book 5. I just wish they would make a 14 episode season of book 3, but I'll take what I get.

They should do what 24 did and make a TV-movie to go with that season.

Still wouldn't fit. A TV movie is what, 2 or 3 hours tops? Not nearly enough.

Depending on how the end of a Dance with Dragons goes
maybe an invasion by Daenerys and the Brienne and Cat stuff
, a longer season with the fourth and fifth book, and a TV movie showing the last events.
Don't the events of the fourth and fifth book happen at the same time. Martin just needed to split it up because he didn't want this 2000 page book (but I feel like he probably changed a lot, because it took him so long.)

But it's HBO, and they don't do TV movie so I guess the way to go is actually to split some of the events in A Storm of Swords to the fourth season, if it goes that far, but as for now, I'm just grateful and enjoying what we have.

It was posted on April 27th but GRRM is done with A Dance with Dragons. :woot:
