Gavin Hood to direct Wolverine

It just amazes me that they'd put this kind of talent behind this origin film--which is such a gamble as it is--yet resort to B and C-list talent for HUGE franchises like X-Men and even Fantastic Four.

Hmmm, I don't know what to think...Gavin could be potentially good as he is a good director. I've only seen one of his films, Tsotsi (which is awesome), so I guess that gives me some confidence about this choice.

It says the movie will be referenced from Marvel Comics Presents Weapon X, Claremont/Millar's Wolverine mini series, and Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X GN. I read these (never read the Weapon X GN) over a dacade ago but I cant remember much about them. Does anyone know if they were any good?

Im still not gonna get my hopes up just because I think Wolverine is just nothing but a cash cow. Still Gavin Hood is an awesome choice. I saw some of Tsotsi not too long ago and it was incredible!

I'm glad things are picking up for this film. There's a good few months before filming starts, so hopefully Hood can get lots done in that time for pre-production, and hire some Oscar-worthy actors. Hopefully he'll also tweak the script.

I hope they release this in November 08, but there was that old article saying they were trying to get a Summer 08 release. Hopefully that's still not on their wishlist. They could do late July/August, I dunno. Depends on what's required in this production I guess.
