I really really liked the somber music choices for the earlier Gears games, they were fantastic but I'm pretty sure Mad World and How it Ends were basically launch trailers weren't they. So if they were then I think we could expect the same for Gears 3. One thing is for sure the game is visually amazing.

Yea thats a good point.

I read a good article not too long ago about just how truly depressing the Gears world is and it made me think how much those song choices fit within this universe.

I think a big reason for the Black Sabbath is the because the trailer aired right after the championship finals. If you play a somber trailer after the excitement of the match then people will be turned off. You gotta keep that excitement and momentum going.

When you think about it, this was basically just a launch trailer like this one:

and launch trailers usually seem to be heart bounding, thumping commercials for the games story.

Yeah I liked Ashes to Ashes better, but them having a "harder" trailer isnt anything new

Watching that trailer just made remember how disappointing Skorge was. The dude was basically Darth Maul in his bad assness when he was first introduced in the game but unlike Darth Maul his fight sequence at the end was really disappointing.

Ok I've watched the trailer another 20 times and it's definitely growing on me. I'm even liking the music now!

Yeah, Skorge was awesome when he was introduced but his fight was nothing like the RAAM fight. Wonder what new bosses we get in Gears 3. I'd love to see them all show up on Wave 50 of Horde 2.0.

Yes, everyone saw it and it was light years better than the most recent one.

That's correct. And it was an awesome trailer. I don't understand why people always have to be so negative. This game is looking great.

Yeah, it had everything I wanted for the campaign trailer. Snippets of action, showing the general aesthetic and scope without spoiling anything. Generally most games do this, and then the Launch Trailer is more like the full, cinematic trailer with the narrative etc. This early on, I want as little story details spoiled as possible

Yea i think so, but that doesn't mean i dont prefer one to the other. I mean im sure theres gonna be a handful of other trailers to drop before the Sept release date.

I'm planning on playing through the first two games soon. Story Mode cooperative play on Xbox Live is going to be so cool btw.

I'd say so, I had a blast playing the Beta and I probably played more multiplayer from the Beta then I ever did in either Gears game. IMO it's better structured and presented better then the two before. I'm sure though that some would disagree with me but I loved it.

Yea i agree. I didnt play much Gears 1 or 2 MP, but im gonna play the hell outta this when it drops. I loved the beta.

I've tried to play Gears 1 and 2 mp in the past but I could never get the hang out it. Apparently all you had to do was roll around with the shotgun, the rifles were useless. Gears 3 however the rifles are awesome, rolling around with the shotgun will still get you kills but you'll have a tougher time now. Everything about the beta felt tight and very well polished.
