Sci-Fi Gears of War: The movie (In the works!)

Speght HAS to be Cole Train...after seeing him in TF3 it just made so much sense...i mean he DOES voice the guy.

I wanna see this made, although like others said it wont happen any time soon

Even if by some miracle a Gears movie gets made, it'll probably be so watered down I'll want to cry.

Oh, and nobody but Speight can play Cole Train. He is the character. And I vote Val Kilmer for Baird. :o

I've actually gotten a little depressed knowing a GOW movie will never see the light. During the Len Wiseman days I was so psyched and then **** went down...

This could be such a great movie...same with Halo and Bioshock but whatever.

Thank God for the Avengers movie, I would never ever think we'd see an Avengers movie...don't think anyone did.

always liked Neal McDonough as Baird

That's actually a good choice, too. I think I'd like Stallone or Mickey Rourke for Marcus, but I dunno. Just as long as it's not friggin John Travolta like I always hear people saying...

The Rock as Dom

Colin Firth or Ted Danson for Marcus

Are Firth and Danson jokes? If theyre not I vote a big no

Marcus is like 30s/40s Rourke and Stallone are too old

Best choice I think for Marcus is Dominic Purcell

or maybe Joe Manganiello

my choices are:

Marcus: Dominic Purcell
Dom: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Cole: Lester Speight
Baird: Sean Williams Scott
Carmine: Shia LeBeuof

Hoffman: Sam Elliot
Anya: Laura Vandervoot

Shia LaBeouf is too high profile to do bit roles like the Carmine brothers. ANd I dont like Laura Vandervoot that much (she's okay). ANd I'd prefer The Rock not to be Dom

But it's a decent cast

Um no:huh:

What's probably taking so long (or at least one of the reasons) is the fact that this would most likely be a hard R rated, high budget movie. Most of the time non R rated comedies dont make that much nowadays

Studios don't want to invest the type of money and budget this movie would require if they turn out like Prince of Persia. Giving a popular videogame property the star treatment. Huge cast and crew. $200 million budget. It tanked.

Gears of War budget would be catastrophic and the subject matter isn't exactly broadly appealing. It's an M-rated game series.

Gears lost momentum (budget cuts, Wiseman left) before PoP was even in theaters...

I'm well aware Blackman, but are you honestly going to tell me a project like Gears of War wouldn't be fast tracked or get more momentum if say Prince of Persia did gangbusters?

I also bet you there is no way studios allow a Gears movie to go over PG-13 if it ever gets made. Look what happened with Terminator 4.

I dont think we can really say that a studio def. wouldve fast tracked a Gears movie due to PoP's success.
Yes, a lot of the time the success of a certain genre would get a lot of scripts in that genre fast tracked, sometimes they dont. I dont think we can really say.

I understand why an Uncharted movie, which probably would be similar in tone to PoP, would slow down or be fast tracked depending on PoP's success

Im sure that the lack of success that PoP didnt help a Gears movie, but I dont that is what's holding it up at all. As Ive said twice it ran into problems before PoP was even out

PoP doing meh at the box office was weird because...well it wasnt THAT bad. As far as video game adaptations go its definitely one of the best.

i think GoW would be different because if it has a compelling script, great action sequences and a good cast it would do great. dont war movies usually do well? add in the post apocalyptic flavor and sci fi and i think you got a broad reaching movie.

Marcus looks grizzled as hell; it's not like his age is clearly discernible just by looking at him. He's scarred up and tattered. IMO Stallone and Rourke both have the grit and bad-ass-ness needed for the character, and they're both way better than Dominic Purcell.

Man, I'd friggin love to see this get made.

theyre still too old...Marcus isnt that old, he just looks like hes been through hell.

Yeah Marcus is like in his early to mid 30's.

But he doesn't need to be grizzled as hell. This is not a role Channing Tatum or Orlando Bloom can play. Or Timothy Olyphant for that matter.

The Gears need to be beefy dudes.

Eh, old shmold. They're both still huge as hell, and even though they're a bit older they rocked it in The Expendables.

Seems like a fit to me. :O

I never saw it, but I think theyre biggest downfall was that they spent an estimated/reported $200 mill on the production budget alone (according to BoxOffice Mojo). I dont see why they would spend so much on a movie that risky.

I agree that Gears would be different one of the things though is what is a "compelling script" in the case of Gears? Should it be: 1) a mindless but fun, 80s style sci fi action movie or 2) should it be a more serious sci fi war movie that goes into the deeper parts of the world that were brought up in the expanded universe.

Personally I vote 2. But I see why some people want 1.

Exactly and you don't need to be in or near your 60s to look like youve been through hell.

Sorry but you don't cast Stallone as Marcus Fenix. It's not the 1980's anymore.
