I can see the movie ending with the Blockade Runner and Vader's Star Destroyer entering hyperspace.

It'd tie up nicely that way....I'm actually pretty excited for the day I can watch Rogue One and ANH back to back.

That'd be awesome.

EDIT: Although, in SW, ships can't follow each other through hypersace, right?

If you have a tracker, you can follow. Because Hyperspace travel is done through lanes. So you'd know which lanes they were using.

Whether the Blockade Runner is already around Tatooine or traveling there, I'd still have the final shot be the Star Destroyer. Either jumping or actually arriving.

Yeah if Rogue One rocks, watching it back to back with Star Wars will be all kinds of surreal. Would work like a proper serial. I already get chills from watching RotJ and TFA back to back.

Gareth kinda confirmed a rumored cameo during that interview. "Industrial light and magic will be doing a fair amount of magic".

So Tarkin!?

And as you indicate their emphasis on fair amount of magic could me more.
The last scene could potentially have a glimpse of CG magic enhanced actress as Leia receiving the plans.
Or at least her hologram, as last survivor Jyn contacts her, and hits transmit! right before Vader enters.

Why is there a TV spot out already? Isn't it way, way early for that sort of thing?

Man, i'm really excited for this movie! I cant wait to see what that "magic" will bring us, or shall i say who ILM will bring back to life :yay:

Also not sure how I feel about a new TIE fighter. This takes place really close to the OT. I can see the rebels not having vast resources so I can see that maybe they'd run out of certain kinds if they were destroyed, but if the Empire has a fleet of these sideways winged TIE fighters, why didn't they ever appear again? Small thing, but we wouldn't be crazy fans if we didn't notice.

The same reason we never saw the Tie Advanced. They are special unit ships. We also see a version of the Ties later. They look like precursors to the Tie Interceptors.

These TIE's are meant only for atmospheric battles which is why we never saw them in the OT.

These TIE's are meant only for atmospheric battles ...
They can fight in space.
...I thought Edwards said they were only meant for atmospheric battles?
Where did he say that?

It's apparently both!

We don't see A and b wings, Scout Troopers, speeder bikes, and Tie Interceptors in ESB
We don't see Snow speeders, Snow Troopers, Walkers, TIE Bombers, etc.. in ROTJ
And you didn't see any of the above in ANH.
Just cause you don't see all the tech. at once doesn't mean they didn't have it, the implication being different Troopers and tech. are used for different missions.
Every movie has introduced new vehicles and troops not seen before, it's an established part of Star Wars.

Deadline confirms Tony Gilroy replaced Gareth Edwards for the Rogue One reshoots.

What was speculated early on since all of these scenes are the more intimate character moments, I figure they must not have been as happy as they would have liked with some of the character moments (which does seem to be a weakness of Edwards).

Well with Disney/Kathy behind it, I'm sure this is all for the better.

Simon Crane was also hired to reshoot action scenes. This is not just about character moments.

There won't be many action scenes re-done. Even EW said that. The big action sequences were done, and with what time they have left not much would be able to get into post. So again, I would not take that to heart that any of these scenes are big action sequences. Smaller maybe I would agree with that.

But the big ones I'm sure are locked in.

I wouldn't pay much attention to that EW report.

They reported Gilroy and said he was a part of it, among many other things that were true. Like how some tried to say it was 8-10 weeks of filming, they wrapped up when EW said they did. Let's not do the whole "It all has to be spin stuff." A lot of what EW reported came to pass. Including the tone. Which was further confirmed at the Vegas Licences Expo where they told toy makers that they were not aiming as kids much due to this being unlike other SW films.

Let's not just ignore it because it does not play up to some massive drama narrative. There is with out a doubt lots of truth in the EW, and some truths in the others. It's not black and white.
