I'm a casual Star Wars watcher and I don't find the timeline confusing at all.

I can't imagine anyone who is still confused.
With all the references and context they've put out there setting it up.

Can they be any clearer.
If they are actually still worried, maybe they should just open the movie like that.

I don't think Disney is worried, but yeah. It sometimes does astonish me that, no matter how obvious the concept, there will always be some people who completely miss it. Sometimes ( often ) while loudly complaining about movies being too simplistic.

People who aren't die-hard and those with kids are confused. I was at a screening of Fantastic Beasts and during the trailer for R1, they had no idea that there is a new Star Wars movie in a month and the 8-9 yo behind me just wouldn't comprehend that it's a Star Wars movie that doesn't connect with TFA.
