Considering the rebel spies work closely with Leia and Vader traces the rebel spies to her, I'm sure she'll be in it somewhere. But I think all we'll get is the back of her head or a shot of her without showing her face. Fisher could dub a few of her lines so we might hear her. but that's it.

Fishers voice sounds abit different these days so i dunno how she could voice a younger leia, maybe they could get a sound alike

And we have been told in the past that doesn't matter, because before the films release, a thread like this is used as the main thread for everything. We had this exact same problem with TFA thread.

And that isn't simple speculation.

Marv, there is a big difference between speculation and a posting something like that from the director. Come on.

All the director says is, "I dont want to ruin it for people." The ************** article is speculation based on a very vague single sentence by the director. That is not a spoiler. And certainly not something that seems tag worthy in a spoiler thread.

Even if the director said yeah she is in the movie and we had some concrete evidence that'd be a pretty minor spoiler. We have known since 1977 that Leia is connected to the mission involving the death star plans. We know she is on the run with the plans at the beginning of the film that is a direct sequel to Rogue One. Bail, Mothma, and Vader are confirmed to be in the film. They are in trailers and tv spots and clips. There is a chance Tarkin is in the film too. After knowing all that and that those other characters from ANH are in the film, is anyone in here really not already thinking Leia will be in the film in some small capacity? Is a vague noncommittal statement about her involvement and some speculation about whether she appears in the film really some major spoiler that needs to be tagged in a spoiler thread?

Well there was not really any splicing they just isolated one word for "Rey" there is lots of unused dialogue and dialogue used in the OT that could always be mixed if they wanted.

Interesting, it does touch on one fear I have which is the characters and they may move too fast to focus on them. TFA really was a smaller scale film and focused on characters above all else. Which there can be a mix but I hope that Rogue One finds time to slow down and have those small moments of characterization sprinkled throughout. Other than that it sounds promising.

My guess is the 28 minute preview was indeed chopped up and truncated in places. It seems highly unlikely to me that they wouldn't at the very least firmly establish Jyn's character in the first act of the film.
