You are basically Homer in this gif, DK:

Oh please, I've seen all your other post on the issue lately... So I thought I would get off a sneak attack before your inevitable rant. I figured no one has ever used Empire against you on it. :oldrazz:

To make it clear, I am not talking about the original music here. I am talking the actual use of Williams themes. My brother said it was like when someone is trying to avoid copyright, so they just change something a little bit. IT just felt weird to me.

Oh okay. Yeah, I know what you mean now.

Maybe I'd agree if he didn't call fans of Disney Star Wars delusional the other day.

Now hold on. I'm calling straight up bull **** on this. I said I was wrong for calling fans delusional when I posted here about it many months ago. Either you're making this up or hopefully, you just got things mixed up. Please go back to it. When you do, please continue reading.

I'm not being condescending to anyone. I'd know if I was and I would stop. If I did, a mod would have messaged me by now and I would gladly cool down. Hasn't happened. People are just taking things the wrong way or personally. Like I'm raining on their parade and enjoying it. I don't think people stupid for liking it nor do I dislike anyone less for it. I just can't tolerate stupidity in a movie and when people like those stupid things for superficial reasons, they deserve to be called out if they can handle it. If they can't, then enjoy everyone here just agreeing with each other.

Hence the joke about you basically slapping me in the face by saying it. :funny:

I am not much older then you, I think I had three different sets of tapes of the OT. 4 if I had those, but I can't remember.

Oh okay. Yeah, I know what you mean now.

I disagree with that. At first I was not as into it, but the more I listen to TFA's score I think the more underrated it is. I think it's one of his best scores since TPM.

To clarify, it is a fine score overall and better than most of the prequel scores, but the OT scores and Williams' 70s-80s work is on a different level for the most part. They have more "texture" and dynamism to them.

Yeah I can see that standpoint.

I do think Giacchino's score was a disappointment.

Yeah it was not a bad score, but for SW it was just kind of there. I did like the Jedha music that played a few times with the planet and Saw. It was unique.

You just admitted you at some point since the release of TFA that you have called people delusion. Time frame might be off, but you said it and it does show you attitude on these things.

Also the bold bit is a perfect example of the condescending nature. I'll break it down:

1. Claim something is stupid. Fine, to feel that way, but that is followed up with you saying,

2. People like stuff for superficial reasons. That is making a judgement on how someone enjoys these films. You are applying your feelings for the movie to others. Like you can see into my heart and see it is all superficial when I was smiling like a fool walking out of the theater. When my whole theater started clapping at the end of the film. And you cap this off with,

3. You feel the need to call someone out for enjoying these films. You say they deserve it. Like their enjoyment is some sort of blot on humanity you must fix...

How is that not condescending again?

I don't blame him because he only had a few weeks to work on the score. The making of this movie seems to have been a bit of a mess, the entire first teaser had almost no scenes in the finished film.

You thinking something is stupid is YOUR OPINION.

Someone else thinking it isn't stupid is THEIR OPINION.

You "calling them out" for having a different opinion than you do is called flaming/trolling/being a not very nice guy.

Film is an art form and, therefore, subjective. What you consider to be "stupidity" within a film is not an absolute...it's your opinion. What you consider to be "superficial reasons" is also not an absolute...again, your opinion. And no one "deserves to be called out" due to their opinion on a subjective topic. Disliking the film is fine. Expressing your reasons for disliking it is also fine. Expressing your opinion as an absolute is too much. Phrases like "I think," "I feel," "the way I see it," "in my view," "in my opinion," etc. go a long way in taking a post from being viewed as aggressive or even condescending to a welcome part of a conversation, even if your viewpoint differs from others.

Man, I hate "fan service".

Epecially when someone appears in the last two minutes! I mean, it's not like they're trying to connect this film to the start of another right?! How ludicrous and appalling! :o

LOVE your Avvy.

In the theatre now! I'm ready!!

Maybe not everyone thinks they’re superficial reasons?

No one “deserves” to be called out. You don’t like the nods to the original movie? That’s fine. But you’re going to have to deal with it, not take your frustration with it out on the people who did. Because that’s just not cool.

As someone born in the 1970s, I’ve never liked that cover. :oldrazz:

Seriously. What IS that.

I love those covers... they were oddly representing the films though.

Like Empire had a Stormtrooper, lulz. While Jedi had Yoda, don't get me wrong but the covers should have been Hope-Obi ESB-Vader Jedi-Luke.

When I think of each movie, for me it goes:

Star Wars - Leia
Empire Strikes Back - Vader
Return of the Jedi - Luke

I'll rectify this as (not a slam on DR. Jones, but the SW fanbase as a whole)

Tell someone you love the prequels, and see what happens. You would think you just shouted out a racial slur, as opposed to enjoying 3 movies. I would know, because I do. :gngl:

I can see why Rogue One is Episode 3.5 while Clone Wars is Episode 2.5.
