Civil War General Ross in civil war! William Hurt returns!

I think he looks good, he used to be always be very lean before he got older and I like that this incarnation of Ross seems to be more Machiavellian and less overtly rabid.

SLJ similarly lost weight over the last couple of years. Maybe they cut out the gluten.

Another guy who I think lost a lost of weight was the guy who played General Ross in the 2003 Hulk movie: Sam Elliot. He looked a lot thinner on Parks and Recreation.

From the trailer, it looks like he's left the US Military, so this may be the last movie we see him in unless he becomes Rulk for IW 1 & 2 or in IW 1&2, he puts on his military gear again and attempts to lead the US Military assault on the forces of Thanos.

According to Wikipedia's Civil War article, Ross is now the US Secretary of State, although I don't know where they got their information from. They cite links, but those links don't specify that is his new position at all. I would've thought, having been in the military, he might've been US Secretary of Defense, if anything.

If we can't get a new solo Hulk movie, how about Marvel makes a special edition replacing all the Ed Norton footage with new Mark Ruffalo footage, and the new Avengers Hulk model in place of that version of the Hulk?

:funny:

That actually sounds kinda cool. Stupid and a massive waste of time and money but cool.

I'm not sure why Sam Elliot keeps coming up. His Ross isn't MCU canon and would just confuse general audiences IMO. Plus I'm glad Marvel is finally acknowledging The Incredible Hulk, I was starting to worry that after the Norton fallout Marvel was pretty much going to ignore it and no longer consider it MCU canon as well.

My guess is with the government being involved in this movie, Ross will lead a group set out to capture rogue heroes. I'd love to see the Thunderbolts brought to the screen.

Agreed.......the sooner we forget that 2003 disaster the better. Hurt is great as Ross......

Ross always wanted a Super Soldier to do his bidding. This is the perfect power play on Cap.

"I know there's a lot of people who don't like me and wish I would go away. I think we got off on the wrong foot. I know I can come off a little overpowered, and for that I'm sorry. But if everyone could find a place in their hearts for the red giant that nobody wanted, I know we can make them laugh and cry until we grow old together."

I will say I grew to actually like Red Hulk once writers who weren't Jeph Loeb started working with him. There's a really good spotlight issue he got during AVX.

But I don't want to see him in Civil War. We already got a "military man becomes an Evil Hulk" plot in the MCU.

I hated his portrayal of Samuel Sterns. I could never look forward to him being a main villain.

The very nature of the Leader makes it easy to just Other Darrin him.

Tim Blake Nelson cracked me up in TIH. I thought he was fun. I just rewatched TIH yesterday, I like that movie. I still think Mark is a better Bruce overall though.

Im looking fwd to seeing William Hurts next portrayal of Ross. He was kinda shady in TIH, Im wondering if hes now working for HYDRA and/or Zemo.

I don't want Ross to be part of Hydra or working with Zemo. That would be too easy. I want him to be a complete pain in the ass and extremely difficult, but to still at heart just be an overzealous military man who hates the Hulk but isn't part of Hydra. That means that he can't just be pushed out that easily as if he were Hydra where things can be more in black and white.

God, I hope not. The Russos have a lot more sense than Whedon. The Russos will probably act as if Brutasha never happened, and if we're lucky, Thanos might use the time gem to erase Brutasha from continuity. One could only hope.

Please don't, these retcons just hurt stories more.

Hell ya, TIH is a fun movie that I never tire of watching. I have no doubt in my mind that if it had come out post-Avengers and/or sans the rift with Norton, we'd be seeing a sequel.

I have a feeling Ross is still after the Hulk and that's an ulterior motive for his dealings with the Avengers.

Yes, now if Bruce was still around he'd be in deep sh-- because of the Accords. Out of everyone hes the most tough to manage. Hes not like Tony or Cap. when he Hulks out it causes the most destruction. I want to see what happens with that too.

I wonder who he'd side with on this. Probably Cap since him and Ross dont get along.

I think it'd be going too far to have Ross knowingly in cahoots with Hydra (though he could be unwittingly helping their agenda by pushing the Sokovia Accords).

I prefer him as a misguided ******* who thinks he's defending 'Murica.

He'd probably be on Cap's side, meaning the end of the Science Bros.

However, if the rumors of the events of Thor Ragnarok taking place at the same time as Civil War are true, we won't see him in Civil War.

There's no way Bruce would trust Ross after the Abomination affair, but I don't know if he would offer the Hulk's help to Cap in this scenario. Bruce wasn't exactly thrilled about working with Scarlet Witch against Ultron, and being on Cap's side would have put him at odds with Widow. Bruce would probably be more worried about the Hulk injuring former allies than winning the philosophical war.

Eh?

There was that dust up in the lab where Bruce put SW in a hold, but that's only because of the chaos going on in that room when Cap was trying to stop Tony. Beyond that where was the "not thrilled to be working with her" stuff?

You're right about that. Ross lacks compassion and his enthusiasm borders on fanaticism, but there's no doubt that he's a patriot. If he saw the skull and tenacles, he'd shoot first and keep shooting.

His words were something like "I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade". That wasn't just about the creation of Vision. Bruce clearly loathed her because of what she made the Hulk do. If Bruce were still in the mix, it would take a long, long time for him to trust her.

Yeah, I think that any scene in the future where Banner has to interact with Wanda, they have to go over his reaction to her seeing that it was her direct actions that led to that Hulk out in Africa and the destruction that followed.

That was BEFORE she came to the aid of the Avengers, in particular Captain America. Banner wasn't aware of it when that dust up occurred in the lab. He was still hot about what happened previously.

Nothing after those events indicated he had any problem whatsoever.

Well, they had an END OF THE WORLD situation to deal with and a missing team mate. Still... We all saw how the Africa Hulk out affected Bruce AND Hulk. I think they probably should cover the issue of Wanda and Bruce in the future as it does make sense that he would have some hard feelings about it.
