This looks like George Lucas' best movie in YEARS. Glad to see him go back to the stuff that inspired him as a kid!
This movie looks awful and looks to be more of a giant finger towards the Tuskagee airmen rather than a tribute.
Terrible.
Already did if you even bothered to read the last page other than that one post. You're entitled to your opinions but care to tell us why you think the movie will be terrible?
No offense to you, but I don't understand people that just come into a topic says something sucks and doesn't give a reason as to why they think something sucks.
Looks like it'll be light on characterization and instead they'll be turning these great men into nothing more but one liner spitting pieces of cardboard. The airmen in the trailer from what I can see for the exception of Howard, Gooding, and one or two of the other pilots aren't convincing anyone they're from that era (just looks at the mannerism and manner of speech by some just go check out the PBS The Tuskegee Airmen if you want a more accurate depiction)
The concentration rather seems to be on the fancy bells and whistle "gee whiz" effects instead of trying to give some proper build up. The focus of the entire thing seems off in terms of the pilots.
If anyone wants to see a great representation go check out The Tuskegee Airmen (TV 1995) version instead of this.
Those are just my feelings on it. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade it's just how I feel about this entire project. I was hoping for the best and unsurprisingly was disappointed once the trailer hits.

No offense to you, but I don't understand why people can't read a couple post after that where I posted a message where I gave my reasoning.

Any other WWII based flick would never have ads like that.
The interview with Jon Stewart was really informative. Whatever Lucas' faults are, he desperately wants this movie to succeed financially, for no other reason than to prove the studio gatekeepers wrong when they told him a movie with an all-black cast is a poor investment.
So even if this movie is more action than education, it was done that way for a clear reason.
How many successful all black films not done by Tyler Perry are released each year?I have trouble believing a studio told him that. Plenty of successful all black cast films out there. I'm calling BS.

One? Two?

NiceI got to go to the premiere of the movie in Chicago over the weekend and a few of the Airmen were in attendance and had nothing but positive remarks about the movie. Also got to briefly meet Lucas and get an autograph![]()
I hope this movie is a success. But i don't think it will be. Not just because it's an all black cast, but because George Lucas is a lousy director and script writer.
I don't think it's going to succeed because it looks largely unappealing in every way. I see no really good selling point to the film besides iffy looking special effects.I hope this movie is a success. But i don't think it will be.
