Im getting MIGHTY sick of all this "I hate Tobey" crap. If you think he is sooooo terrible,then dont watch the damn movies with him in them. He might not be "actor of the decade",but as far Im concerned,he has done his job pretty well. He might not be the IDEAL Peter Parker,but I dont really give a flying ****,Ive seen him through 3 movies and I have no complaints with him. The thing I love about Spidey is that you can relate to him. I can relate to both Tobey and comic Spidey,thats what made him a true success.

If you dont think hes worth watching,then dont go and see SM4,simple as that. Tobey looks like he is here to stay,so DEAL with it.

I'm not going to say he has nothing to do with why these movies are so popular. But I will say it is very little. If he were the reason these movies are so poular his other movies wouldn't be such big bombs. People would be all "Oh! The new Tobey movie is coming out! We should go see that!" Instead it's more like "Oh look. The guy who plays Spider-Man is in that movie." And then the movie flops.

Pleasantville=flop

The Good German=flop

The Ice Store=flop

S.F.W.=flop

This Boy's Life=flop

Ride with the Devil=flop

Wonder Boys=flop

Brothers=poor opening/possible flop/too soon to tell

My point is Maguire didn't save those movies. He was in it and they did terrible. Because people don't go to see the Spider-Man movies to see him. They go because Spider-Man is the most popular superhero in the world right now.

People want to see Tobey as a superhero . Those movies sound depressing , that's all it is.

DACMAN. All this hate for Tobey is unnecessary. I can see you care for the character of Peter,and you dont think Tobey is good enough. But come on,youre basically bullying him for trivial reasons.

"Hes old, fat and has blue eyes". Thats not fair.

Youre right about other things though. Yeah,he doesnt pull off wisecracks like a pro as in the comics. But Im not really bothered about those things. I would join the hate campaign if I knew he was terrible as you guys put it,but I just dont see it like that. Ive enjoyed HIS interpretation so far.

I've actually decided that it is best to keep him around for the next couple of films. Let them finish off this version of Pete and Spidey. I think saving the new actor for the reboot is best. So I'd actually change my vote to keeping him for 4, 5, and 6. Once they finish I think there are alot of actors out there who could do a much better job.

After seeing Tobey on the Tonight Show, he's showed me that he can be Peter Parker as far as his looks and demeanor. I love the 5 O'clock shadow and everything. It really does away with the nerdy, teen, adolescent Peter we've seen for 3 films. If they let him film looking like this I'd be happy. Very happy. Check it out yourselves.

They need to let him grow up. I used to think it was partly Tobey's fault the sophmoric approach they took in all three films. After seeing this I think Tobey could really be a great Peter Parker instead of just an ok one.

His acting in the 3 Spider-Man movies didn't convince you he can play Peter Parker, but seeing him on a talk show talking about an unrelated movie does?

Yeah. He is this man-child in all three movies. He actually seemed like a man in the interview. Peter wasn't the nerd after he became Spidey. But Raimi kept him the nerd long after.

But I will agree with you, it does seem backwards that he seems more like Peter in an interview than he does in the actual films.

My thoughts exactly. Tobey's a great choice for Peter. I can't believe we have people nit-picking about such trivial things as his "double-chin"....really? I can understand certain problems some might have with his portrayal of peter, but it astounds me that some people stoop to such a level as to complain about his CHIN.

Hey, I loved him in the first two films. The third one... I don't know what happened. If he can bring his game back in the fourth one, then I'm all for it. But right now, I am not against a recast at all. In fact, I do wish they would have done it.

I'm a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal's and he almost got the role . Now that is highly unlikely but i'm not so sure it's Tobey's fault. If the character was less nerdy in the films it would be alot better. I just don't want to cringe anymore.
I saw Spider-man 3 and i was next to a group of bodybuilders with venom shirts and they looked amped . I looked over during the movie and you could see the regret on their faces.
