yea i heard about all the stuff for the animated show dvd set. I cant wait for that and but will have to wait a bit for price to go down.

I'm not sure if Time Life's stuff actually does go down in price...It's a bit cheaper if you pre-order it. Coming out smack dab in the middle of my birthday and Christmas, so I've already been begging my immediate family to get it for me. I've waited for this pretty much since the dawn of tv-on-dvd. If only I could still get Ecto Cooler these days...then the whole experience would be complete.

Could ghostbusters 3 be on the way:

Exclusive: New Ghostbusters Closer Than We Think?
Bill Murray Dan Akroyd Ernie Hudson Ghostbusters Harold Ramis Sequels Seth Rogan
We just heard what might possibly be one of the coolest rumors to come across our virtual desk in a long time. This information comes from a very reliable source who cannot, at this point, be named, but they are telling us that a new Ghostbusters film may be happening sooner than we all think.

According to our source all four Ghostbusters -- Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson -- have agreed to return to the franchise. A few years ago that would have been downright unbelievable, but considering they all just got back into their roles for the Ghostbusters videogame, it’s more than plausible that they’d do it on-camera one more time.

Now here’s the really interesting part; though not much is known about the plot, apparently the ‘Busters will be handing over their proton packs to Seth Rogan and the crew from 40 Year Old Virgin! Some may roll their eyes at this, but think about it; these guys are doing the same thing Murray, Ramis, Ivan Reitman, John Candy and their whole crew did back in the 80’s, churning out comedy after comedy, so it makes sense they’d take over these reins as well.

Of course all of it hinges on a budget, classic Hollywood story, but hopefully there’s a studio out there smart enough to know that the fans want at least one more Ghostbusters movie (hell, if done right, possibly a new franchise) and make this sucker happen.

Keep it here for more as we learn it!

Hmmm

Paul Rudd-Venkman
Steve Carell-Spengler
Seth Rogen-Stantz
Romany Malco-Zeddemore

Personally, those aren't the actors I'd chose, but I can see it working fairly well.

The 40 year old ghostbuster. would Judd Apatow be directing or producing? lol.

I just hope Jonah Hill isn't given any more than a cameo. He's the least talented Apatow regular.

No i dont think that article meant they would be playing the ghostbusters characters in a remake. It was saying the old crew may do another film more so murray may finally be into doing it. maybe he has changed his mind after doing recordings for the upcoming game. If this were to happen seth rogen, etc..... would be playing different characters becoming ghostbusters.

Also in other ghostbusters news if you gone to variety of gb sites looks like game it getting delayed to next year to co-ensign with the 25th aniversity of the first film. Their was rumors first a few days ago that it might have been cancelled which would have totally sucked but its just getting delayed. For some reason activision doesnt want to publish it and its just likely to be published by another company within the activision label. I wonder why they wouldnt want to publish it. They know fans are dieing for this game.

I hope to god the Apatow crew does this.

Yea it sounds like it could be good if they got the right story. And it would be nice of a extreme ghostbusters/passing the torch with the original busters retiring/what ever and they get a new crew. I would so love to see gb3 happen. Been wanting it to happen for years. But many known the big reason was murray not wanting to do it and also with him for what ever reason has partial hold on the rights to the characters he has prevented total movement on another film. but maybe things have really changed with the video game coming soon maybe they finally convinced him to return. And heck if he doesnt want to have a big role he could just have a small cameo.

Hell everything else from the 80's is making a comeback why not this?

I'm all for it with for amention cast and crew.

Yea and we know more then likely a remake isnt going to happen since harris and dan own the rights to the characters. I rather be a sequel and be extreme ghostbuster/retiring plot can work well. So maybe a mod can close the other ghostbusters thread since this one was first.

Yeah, i've been dying to see another Ghostbusters movie god, since 1989 when GB2 came out. That's amost 20 years!

The only problem for some people is the apatow cew cause some people don't seem like like their brand of comedy. But it's gonna be PG-13 and they've done previous PG-13 movies like Anchorman and Talladaga Nights: The Story of Ricky Bobby.

Please, please. I don't care if the original four are the main characters anymore. I'm done being a purist. I just NEED a new Ghostbusters film.

At least with the Apatow crew, the franchise would be in good hands.

I really hope this does happen, every so often a new GB3 rumour starts, and it breaks my heart every time it doesnt come true.

I posted this in the judd apatrow thread but might as well put it here too. Hey guys did you see this. Hmmmmm i wonder if there is any true in the hatred between them.

I’m a little bias though – being a child of the 80s, I’ve become accustomed to watching great comedies starring the likes of John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Steve Martin and Chevy Chase. And quite frankly, nobody today even comes close to one of those guys. ****, I’ll even go so far as to say I enjoyed the works of Judge Reinhold and Rick Moranis more than some of the $20-million-a-movie schmucks working the genre today (Mike Myers, in particular).

“Ghostbusters”, to name but one comedy classic of the 80s, was probably the choice cut of the bunch. It was a magical combination of script, star (or in this case, a handful of big stars) and special-effects. You can’t get sick of that film.

I was talking to someone-in-the-know via telephonic device today, about some of the great comedic directors of our time, and he mentioned that a screenwriter pal of his - who I know on an acquaintance level - is currently working with Ivan Reitman, the director of “Ghostbusters”, on a film. As you could imagine, my ears pricked up like a Vulcan at a strip club.

Man, he had some great gossip. I twisted his arm to let us run with some of the gossip his friend's heard whilst roasting cashews with the "Ghostbusters" director (OK, so he wasn't doing that- but it sounds much cooler than ‘I was there for a meeting. Nothing excited happened' doesn't it?) - even if it's of the ‘Oh man, that's too bad' variety. And you know how ****in' hard it is to physically twist an arm through a phone? ****, I don't think Freddy Krueger even tried that one - - -the best he could do was stick his tongue through the receiver. Weak as piss, Fred.

Anyway, those Mid Comic-Con rumours of a new "Ghosbusters" film starring, well, everyone that's featured in a Judd Apatow film in the past couple of years, have since been quashed - but what about another "Ghostbusters" movie, starring the original cast? Surely there's a small smidgen of a chance that might be come to be one day, right? I found out.

Nope. Not going to happen.

And the reason might surprise some : The cast aren't friendly any more. Harold Ramis has had a falling out with Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, and the only reason the video-game got done is because none of the guys had to be in the same room at the same time. Don’t that suck harder than a toothless ****e?

Now I don't know what's gone on there, and wouldn't even want to speculate, but that's the word from the speaky end of my phone. Too bad, huh?. I assumed these guys would meet up ever Tuesday for Jack Daniels Steak at Aykroyd's House of Blues. Doesn't sound like it.

So in retrospect, the only way we’ll ever see a new “Ghostbusters” film is if it’s a complete CGI abomination (hello “Clone Wars”!) – in which case all the actors can record their lines in separate booths at separate times, or – cue the “Psycho” theme – it’ll be a remake...which Paul Rudd and myself definitely don’t want to see. Do you?

^^^ who is this guy?

A falling-out between Ramis and Aykroyd?! Thats a little hard to believe. This sounds like one of those "this guy heard from close sources that so and so and blah blah" situations.

YEa i dont really believe it either cause everything heard about dan and harold they are pretty close and good friends. So i dont know what to believe in that story. And the article writer is the guy who runs moviehole.

Did they cancel the game so they could do a new Ghostbusters instead of having it be a game?
