I don't think he "resents" it, but he is definitely self aware that being a out kid in high school is not a fun time

"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" was without question Colfer's best to date.

Most young gay men do. Growing up gay can be a *****.

No doubt. My point is, they made it seem like the only reason to be an athiest is if you have a massive ****ing chip on your shoulder because God screwed you. That's why I think it would've been more interesting to see Mercedes or someone as the athiest.

I saw that. The two atheists on the show had a reason to be angry with God, Kurt and Sue. Like everyone said, Kurt is angry at God for making him gay and making his followers hate him while Sue is angry because everyone ridiculed her sister and God never healed her. They definitely made it seem an atheist is someone angry at God and therefore doesn't believe in him.

Kurt wasn't angry with god for making him gay. He just found it stupid to be believing in the "Adult Santa Claus" concept.

Wasn't Kurt an atheist without being slapped in the face?

I saw that Kurt was an atheist because he grew up around people who were heavily religious telling him that being gay was a choice, so he has the impression that being religious means that you can choose who you want to be. And as he said, why would he choose a life that would be full of torment and ridicule from his peers? He knows who he is and he's comfortable with who he is and has no problems being gay. He just doesn't believe that something like religion exists where just being able to pray to something that he has no proof that exists can change who he is or remove any of his hardships, most likely because he's tried at some point and nothing came of it, much like how Sue prayed with all her might for her sister to get better, but she only got worse.

To be fair, Sue seemed angrier with the believers of God than she was with God. After praying and praying for her sister to no result, she just stopped believing because she felt no one was listening. The part that Sue seemed angry about was people telling others to believe or they would go to hell.

There were some hints that Kurt just didn't think God could logically exist (he even referenced the Flying Spaghetti Monster), but it was definitely overshadowed by his anger and bitterness.

Finn's storyline actually packed a surprising (and warranted) amount of criticism - the person that's religious when it's convenient to their own gains.

Just saw the episode. How insulting.

Not with just the Angry Atheists but also with the portrayal that all atheists need is a visit to a Black Church.

At least I was satisfied in the knowledge that most of the people in that church prolly hated him because he was gay anyway.

It ended with all the Atheists submitting to the Spirituals. What would have happened if the dad had died? Justice served?

The point was... believe in God... good things happen. Even tough ass Sue bent over and took it.

If this had been a Pray the Gay away episode where Kurt started liking girls everyone would have filled their britches.

Eh. To each his own. I don't ever come away with some deep message from the show. Definitely didn't see any "submission".

You have to look at Kurt as the full character and just not the cliche of the gay teen. Kurt is a character who has been full of a lot of anger and put-upon outrage since the premiere. He hides it under a healthy dose of sarcasm and condescending elitism, but it is only because he is angry at the world around him.

So, it is unsurprising somebody with that perspective would be extremely skeptical about all things.

It made sense for the character, in my opinion.

I shouldn't have watched the epi today.... a good mate's mum passed away last night...ended up having to pause the episode during kurts song...don't think i've gotten emotional for about five years due to a TV show.

Just as long as it's a guy artist. I'm sort of annoyed that we've only had Britney and Madonna so far.
