just saw this movie today...two times. first at 10.35 by myself, then at 1:00 with the gf. This movie rules all kinds of movies, that if it wasnt for the fact there were only two showings i would have watched it again.

The fx's were supreme. The acting was great, chris evans surprised the heck out of me. The plot was simple, yet, engaging. It keeps you at the edge of your seat, and actually makes you care for the characters. Through the movie i found myself moved and almost weeping because of what was happening. The score for the movie played a great part in playing with the emotions. The only flaw came towards the end, but its not something that affected the movie a great deal.

I give the movie a 9/10. I place this movie on top of Die Hard for MOY. My list so far is

Die Hard 4
Grindhouse
Simpsons
Spider-Man 3
Hot Fuzz

this movie was 2001: Space Odyssey on steroids. 2001 meets Event Horizon meets Aliens. This movie ruled

thats what I thought. Boyle wasn't lying when he said he could be a really great actor.

Glad to see someone agrees with me. He's likable in the FF movies but those movies are well light weight when it comes to performances because the movies are lightweight...and not very good but I like them anyway. I would love to see him do more serious stuff because I couldn't keep my eyes off of him.

Really? I thought that Evan's acting wasn't great in this.....well he was really great, but one part particularely stood out as not great acting. [blackout]his death scene[/blackout] just didn't srtike me as great.....other than that he was awesome in it.

Yeah, that was weak and kind of brought me out of the moment. I wanted it to be over quickly.

I absolutely loved this movie!! As you can see below... it's on my best of the year list definitely. One of the most beautiful looking and incredible sci fi thrillers of all time. I agree with Roughneck, it's REALLY worth it!

Sorry to bump this thread, but I saw the movie last week, and it was amazing, easily the best movie I've seen so far this year. Cillian Murphy and Rose Byrne were amazing, Murphy especially.

That's not it exactly, but you know the scene I mean. Just chilling. I would have gone to see it at least once more, but the theater is two hours away (the only one in my state playing it), and not yet having my license, there's no way I could convince my parents to drive down again and see it. But, I did like it enough to write Fox feedback and tell them how great the film was, and how poorly they did marketing it. They probably won't read it, but oh well. Can't wait for the DVD, anyone know when it comes out in the US?

I was planning on seeing Sunshine this week until I saw the movie schedule for my local theatres. Its already off the main screen in my area, was there a week or two ago. Guess it was doin poorly so they bumped it,but rescue dawn is still showing. Believe those two movies came out 'bout the same time.
Guess I will have to wait until it comes out on DVD to see it.

Sunshine was also only at one theater but it played a couple times a day at least....

I went a third time last thrusday, that was the last day it was playing, and they'd already cut the trailers off....so I watched five people some in late (Assumingly they were expecting there to be trailers)

I also saw 7 people leave early....I couldn't fathom why.....a group of 4 left, literally, 10 seconds before the third act twist.....

I at least hope this has a semi decent run at the cheap seats...I wanna see it again.

Yeah, Sunshine didn't last long in theaters here either. Thought it was f-ridiculous, crap stayed on in cinemas, whilst something as great as Sunshine didn't.

i watched the movie at 3 in the morning when i came home. so i was very tired.
why i am writting this? because the movie was very boring to me and empty. so now i need to know if the reason i didnt like hte movie was because i was tired or because it is really bad. i see that a lot of people like the movie.

1. the story of the movie is that they need to restart the sun. that was explained in hte trailer so i dont understand whats the purpose of the movie. 2. was the movie about characters? was it? because i saw no character development. nothing. no relationships. only some astronauts and scientist who are on a mission to save the world from winter because the sun is dying.
3. freddy kruger. whats teh purpose of this guy? for some horror scenes right? it was for some scary scenes right? or was there more?
is this movie supposed to be 100% fantasy or is it supposed to be realistic future?
for example lucas says about SW its 100% fantasy. thats why there i sound in space in SW. so whats up with sunshine? this was not realistic. freddy kruger was strong as hell. he was like a terminator.
4. when watchign the sun it looked like there is something big happening. the doctor asked what does he see. this was no explained in the movie. what was this all about? a bigg meaning? something? idnt htey want to expain it so that we could talk about it on the internet?

it looks to me like a simple movie with a simple story. so people on a spaceship and something bad happens to the ship so they start to die.
i not even once felt sorry when a crew member died. i didnt care for them.

i liked that when they were on the icarus 1 the director showed us pics for the old crew. it was very fast. it was something different.



so was the problem that i didnt get the big meaning of the movie or what?

p.s. the music was the best part of the movie. and i need to have this at home. where can i buy this?

The Movie was not for you Dark B.....judging by your post it seems like you caught everything, but you just didn't get it.

Some folks just dont.....It's not that you were tired...you just missed the real movie....there is so much more to it, all within the stuff you wrote in your post.....but some people just don't see it.

Sunshine is really two different movies within one....there is the great movie that some people see and there is a bland odd not good movie that others see.
