Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

Akanna stood in the rain staring at the door of the inn. He was stood on a highway, a poular trading route in the wildlands. The inn itself was a more of a jack-of-all-trades waystation. Traders gathered here and mingled with rogues, thieves and bandits. The traders were safe from villainy however, an uneasy alliance formed over many decades of traveling this route.

Smoke drifted lazily from the chimney of the building only to be cut off by the lashing sheets of rain. Akanna pulled back his deep travelling hood and made his way inside.

Within the building an old rugged looking barkeeper stood mopping up a spilt drink with a filthy rag. With one eye under a patch he glared at the newcomer with his other good eye. "Welcome to Rooks Rest Elf. Everyone is welcome lad, so long as ah get no trouble within these walls. What can I get yer?"

Akanna glanced around the smokey room. In the corner sat a group of humans, rugged looking under heavy beards and mismatched armour. A pair of Orcs sat near the door, sharing a greasy looking side of ham. At the bar sat a troll and an old man, his jerkin looking about two sizes too big for his skinny frame. In his hand he nestled a beer. Akanna moved into the bar, leaving enough distance from the other denziens. He turned to the one eyed bartender. "Wine, the best you have", he muttered.

The bartender laughed heartily. "It's the best and the worst lad, the only one we have!" Akanna nodded that it'd be alright and the keeper poured him a level into a clay cup. "So what brings an Elf this far out? We don't get very many of your kind around here".

"I'm looking for something. Or someone".
Akanna said, sipping at the wine. It tasted like horse piss but it'd have to do.

"Ah, well I'll not ask further then. I thought you were here about the Minotaur over in Kartik Forest. There's been a few chancers pass through on the hunt for thing".

Akanna glanced up from his cup and met the keepers eye. "A Minotaur? I thought they were only found overseas?"

"Aye they are!"
The keeper chuckled. "One of the traders that pass through bought him from a slaver. He was planning to use him as an attraction and make some coin. The Minotaur didn't take kindly though and ripped the traders arms off, before disappearing into the forest. There's a bounty on his head from some of the local thieves guild. Quite a few men have been lost trying to kill that thing."

Akanna sat and thought for a moment, swilling the wine in his cup. "Are they intelligent creatures?" he asked, nonchalantly.

The barkeeper shrugged as he picked up a glass to rub the oily cloth over. "Some say they are. 'Bout as intelligent as the Orcs is what I've heard. Fierce as hell and fight like demons too. Untame though, and can't be reasoned with. Sooner that thing is dead, the better. It's starting to be bad for business".

Akanna nodded his understanding and drained his cup. Dropping a silver coin on the counter he adjusted his sword belt and tightened his travelling cloak around his shoulders. "Kartik forest you say? Thankyou for the wine, and for the information."

Akanna turned and made for the door. Back out in the rain he pulled his travelling cloak up and through the cold darkness, made his way north towards the line of trees that marked the boundary of Kartik.

You're approved, Optikal. I know in your sample post the inn is a place where cutthroats, barbarians, and other monstrous villains can gather. But, keep in mind that the rest of the world pretty much despises dark elves, what with them being evil ****s after all.

Cheers JB. Well other than Orlando Bloom in LOTR, I've never read any fantasy concerning Elves. My exposure comes from the likes of Gemmell, Goodkind and Fiest. Making my character a Dark Elf was basically a decision to add flavour to the tale I had in mind. Before I delve in fully though, I intend to further expand my knowledge on the race and their history. I really want to do justice to this game, so I'll be putting in the effort ;)

That's what I'm sayin'. All them surface faeries need to die so that the drow can take control.

Thanks for that JB, it's an interesting read and will help immeasurably :D

No problem. There's actually a lot to the drow and their society. I'd suggest reading up on it before posting.

*adds another dark elf to hitlist...*

Geez, my guy's gonna be busy :D

Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: SEASON I

Screen Name:
Catman_prb

Character you have created: Kelvamin the Sword-Winder (Inherited title)

Race/Culture: Human/Celtic

Racial Traits: Human? None?

Character Class (Somewhat similar to the classes in the CAH RPG, but with some differences) (Choose One): Spell Sword

Magic : Transformational (minor)

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not): Arial Narrow Bold

Character Alignment : Chaotic good

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Kelvamin believes that the only path to nirvana and true perfection is through living a fair, just life and ridding the world of evil.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible): When he was just a boy, the man who became Kelvamin served as a foot soldier in a clan headed by a corrupt fool who would have conquered all of the British Isles. As the clansmen marched onto the field of war, they were met by a single man, dressed only in simple white robes with a thin sword across his back. The man greeted them genially and introduced himself as Kelvamin, before expressing his wish that they cease their foolishness and return to their own land. The clan leader merely laughed, and ordered his army to march on. Kelvamin drew his thin sword and leapt into the fray, killing a great many of the clan's soldiers that day. Eventually he was pinned down by sheer body of men, and dragged off to their encampment as a prize prisoner. The boy who would become Kelvamin, who was already uneasy about the way his clan was headed, came to the white-robed warrior in the night and released him from his bonds. Kelvamin thanked him, then walked to the chief's tent and challenged him to single combat. The prideful chieftan was cut down in a matter of seconds by the swift and nimble Kelvamin, who then offered the boy tutelage. The boy learned that Kelvamin came from a land beyond the ocean, beyond the great expanse, beyond a great series of mountains, and he had come all this way merely in an attempt to find peace and wellbeing through combat until such time as the fates decided he had met a worthy opponent, as his tutor had done and his tutor, all the way back until Great Kelvamin the Sword-Winder. The boy learned well, and when his tutor died in single combat against a wicked man he passed on one last piece of wisdom, "Never hate, simply forgive. And let forgiveness guide your sword,". Kelvamin inherited his name, his robes, his sword and his quest to find nirvana. This quest brought him to the shores of ruined Athens.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as I feel I need to.

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

The sandy shore was covered in a low lying mist. Undead creatures that had left the haven of Athens wandered along the coast, jumping on unwary travellers and ensuring Charaun's rule over his necropolis. From the mists a grey boat emerged, pushed forwards by the gentle wind in the single sail, and moving the water in front of it onto the beach.

The boat bumped into the sandy dunes, and the white robed figure of Kelvamin Sword-Winder leapt over the prow. He drew his katana from the ornate scabbard that was slung over his back. The first zombie was upon him before he could really take in his surroundings. He slashed left and right, opening the monster's chest cavity, before cleaving it's head from it's shoulders.

He plunged his katana straight through the eye of the second zombie, allowing himself a brief smile as his well-trained martial skills took over. He kicked the zombie off his blade, spinning around and decapitating the creature behind him. As more and more massed upon him, he used the most important skill that his master had taught him. He closed his eyes, letting his other sense guide his sword. Concentrating, he shifted.

He opened his eyes some thirty metres away from the zombies. He crossed his legs, sitting down on the sand and pulled out a rag. He cleaned the blood off of his blade lovingly, before replacing it in his scabbard. He stood up and dusted the sand off of his robes. He turned around and looked at the smoking ruins of Athens in the distance.

"As good a place to die as any," he smiled to himself.

Hey guys, I'll have Amun and Archilaus posts up tomorrow night.

Update: In order to balance out the drow a bit, added the weakness Daylight Sensitivity to their Racial Traits.

Optikal, since you're character has lived on the surface for some time now, it's safe to say he's already adapted to life under the bright light. Though I'd imagine it still bothers him more than it would a surfer dweller.

Excellent.

Now I can add Daywalker to my character's nicknames. :D

The Anal Rapers.

No one's gonna **** with that group.
