As much as I usually don't care what the general public thinks, it's gotta make some money if it's gonna be the start of a new franchise. I personally liked the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot but not many others did... and so there's not a sequel to be found.
Is it me or are there not really any differences between the two shapes?
Well, that's where we differ. I've already got a library of great Godzilla movies. I don't see the need for a franchise here. Nor was there a need for one with the new Elm Street movie, for that matter.

Perhaps for you, but many other Godzilla fans would love to see Godzilla completely brought back into this current generation. To have a new era of Godzilla and a welcoming modern expansion of the franchise. And of course Toho desires the same thing for their icon as well.
Of course, no movie really needs a franchise, but that changes when people want one.![]()
I can guarantee that cities will be trashed in this movie.

Can't wait to see accusations of "destruction porn".![]()
I love Hollywoods's new Godzilla design and I don't think it's that Americanized or"American Fatty",I thought the Japanese would appreciate and love the design..I guess not
I even think it pays a lot of homage cause in some shots it looks like it could be a guy in a suit
https://mobile.***********/MikeReactor@david_tincher Gareth Edwards did a phenomenal job of building up the fight scenes. Everything is visible and right in your face.

Let's just look at the first two and do some math, 4 animators took 6 months just to Godzilla's scales....2 freaking years to do just that one thing!!!
I prefer attention to detail over volume any day.
Plus, how badass would it have been to be around when they fired up that speaker system to record the roar!!
I like his new design, but I still found the neck and head a little too thick. Not sure if a thinner neck would've worked, but whatever.
Again you guys just have to accept that Japanese fans might not like this version.
