Saw a YouTube review that states that godzillas "scales" I think she meant fins) do light up when he does the atomic hearth. ... or maybe it is some of his scales instead. Other than that barely any spoilers

I only scrolled down to the bottom to avoid any (potential) spoilers, but this is a glowing 4.5/5 review.

Bit disappointed to see Mendelson wasn't crazy about it.

Haven't read anything about this movie, but I did see a trailer and man was it good. The hype is making me excited to see this one.

When it comes to tentpoles, it's really hard to gauge the first few reviews. While so far there has been maybe 2-3 mix-to-negative reviews, there are many good marks for the movies from other critics. But the consensus is never clear till we hit 50 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Even with the negative reviews, they all have said they admire Evan's direction, and workmanship.

I'm hearing a pretty big consensus that the human story doesn't really hold up, but the build up is great and Edwards sticks the landing. That's good enough for me.

Same. Godzilla vs The Thing, which is generally considered to be one of the greatest Godzilla films ever made, had an inconsistent character arc. But even that film had characters that had some issues that relate to the monster(s) and if this film sticks to that tradition, it's fine with me.

Have no qualms with mendlesons review it was well written and he makes good points, still think I'm going to love this flickbecause the most important aspect has been nailed....godzilla himself!

Going by his intro, this is basically a film NOT for the Michael Bay crowd. Nice.:up:

I have to agree with Devin. He thinks too many in the film community are too jaded with genre movies, even when they attempt to pull something different. In this case, pacing and build-up. And then with the ADD audience, some many get bored by it's old-school pacing.

Time also stated 'Cloud Atlas' the worst movie of 2012. So there you go.

As I said weeks ago, you guys need to temper your expectations because not everyone is going to love the movie as much as you think you will ;) .

So far the main dislikes of the film I've seen in reviews(The reviews that don't find Godzilla entirely good) is that some don't find the human characters interesting, and that Godzilla doesn't appear early during the film. (Or there's not 2 hours of pure Godzilla)

So generally the reviews I've seen have been positive to mixed
