Yes.
Fantastic, in terms of technical wizardry and the movie's ambiance and aesthetic, it's like immaculate. This is Edwards second movie only and it's a giant like $200 million movie. His last film was half a million, as impressive as that was, I mean...so impressed with his abilities and what he pulled off here. How was the sound design, in particular Godzilla's roar?
And honestly in terms of delivering the overall package, I got to be honest, I believe I preferred Pacific Rim more. I think Pacific Rim had a better sense of what it wanted to be and delivered better from that perspective.
So what they were selling wasn't exactly you were in for? I can see that happening for some people. PacRim was pretty much sold on being this colorful, fun summer blockbuster.
can't wait!Early marketing for Godzilla positioned it as grim, a dark meditation on the destruction that would be caused by such a gargantua run amok. That isnt the film; its serious-minded, but not at the expense of fun. A young boy who is separated from his parents in an early attack finds himself returned to them, a stark contrast to images from the 1954 film, where we see a woman cradling her dead child in a hospital hallway. The destruction has weight, but not so much that it makes you feel bad for watching. And Godzillas advance towards the US is slow enough that much of San Francisco is safely evacuated before he gets there, allowing us to stomp our cake and eat it too.
