Oddly, Big G himself actually doesn't partake in much destruction.

Just pre-ordered my tickets to a 2D(!) 7:00 showing for this Thursday. Can't wait!

A lot of it happens of screen, just cutting to the aftermath.

I'm hoping with fair warning about the editing that other folks will enjoy it more. I had a somewhat similar experience with Wreck It Ralph. My friends were all disappointed that there wasn't more game jumping, but since I knew going in that the film really focused most of its time on just the racing game I ended up really liking it.

I heard bad things about the new Spider-Man, so I went in with the desire just to see Spidey do his thing. I liked the movie overall, but I know that it isn't a "good" movie in the truest sense of the word. You've done me a favor, not to expect a great movie, but something that I would watch a second time.

Tull said there would be a longer version on Blu Ray, might have some more of that in there.

I swear this was at 84% on RT last night, but now it's at 90%!

Oddly Tull said that will be decided by Edwards himself. Saying that, Edwards did say he cut a bunch of stuff he really liked, and wanted to keep, in the film.

Based solely on the criticisms I feel it may end up in the mid 70's

definitely wont stay in the 90s. Realistically, mid 70s. Optimistically, low 80s

80s would be perfect, i just hope it doesn't end up like Man of Steel and TASM 2.

Doubt it will. It has a decent average rating right now. By contrast, by this point ASM2 had like 6.1.

managed to get tickets to see this on Thursday for the Imax 3D showing

Rottentomatoes consensus:
With just enough human drama to anchor the sweeping spectacle of giant monsters smashing everything in sight, Gareth Edwards' Godzilla satisfyingly restores the franchise's fire-breathing glory.

I'm loving that Godzilla has a 90% fresh. Even though I am anticipating the drop. Really excited to see this, though.
