Godzilla (2014) - Part 9

Decent runtime. I was hoping for the 2 hours and 38 minutes I'd heard rumored, but that might be just fine. Don't want it to feel like it's dragging on just for the sake of a longer time.

It's nice seeing a large blockbuster come in under 2hrs25mins, which seems almost a rarity these days.

The movie will be 2 hours and 3 minutes.
Should be fine. As you know, Dr No is 120 mins, FRWL 118 mins and Goldfinger 112 mins - and they fitted in a lot there.

Just as long there's heavy destruction and atmosphere.

Good runtime imo, though I hope the credits aren't too long :p

I just saw the Godzilla 2014 panel, and it was great, but funny as well. Two jabs at G'98 "and after one false attempt" and "I can't believe someone with your accent (he was Asian) would refer to the Emmerich Godzilla as the first Godzilla". Edwards was really funny; a good example is when he mentioned to Cranston how he saw his character from Malcolm in the Middle as a "closeted gay man" lol. Go watch it

I'd thought I would share this neat art of the Marvel Comics Godzilla I found last night. I love it, I know to see it looks like your old generic old school t-rex with spikes, but me, I see Godzilla through and through. I love the retro design and feel. In the past I was never really big on the Marvel Godzilla, but preferences change, and with this art, I love it now.

Wonder-Con footage... oh my daysssss.

And how many posters does this film have?! haha they are all awesome though. What a great marketing campaign. I can see this film being a real dark horse at the box office. Upwards of 600 million at least i'd guess.

It's all over the internet so it's not too hard to find. Dailymotion would be a lucky bet.

Until it's officially released, you can't post that here.

Im totally happy with that runtime, and I do have to say about the marketing, this is the BEST marketing I've seen for a big budget blockbuster in as long as I can remember, every poster and banner has been well done and effective which is very unlike Hollywood these days, it seems we got lucky with the Big G.

They should consider releasing that Wondercon footage. It totally sold me on the movie. Amazing. Man, I hope I get a good theater crowd for this one.

Anything longer than two hours and you're basically getting way more backstory on the humans as opposed to Zilla.

Zilla was 139 mins, 2 hours and 19 minutes

Correct. Humans need some characterization but I suspect most of us are here to see Godzilla put his clawed foot up someone's ass. :cmad:

True... I definitely DON'T want a Transformers repeat here where the military and obnoxious parents hog screen time.

Well if the trailer is any indication the human characters are a lot less cartoonish and obnoxious than they were in '98 Zilla or Transformers.

Holy s*** at that WonderCon footage! I haven't been following this too since I was already totally sold by the 2nd trailer, so is there now a consensus as to [blackout]who that other monster was[/blackout] in the footage?

Also, I'm not usually a fan of Alexandre Desplat, but it really sounds like he knocked it out of the park on this one. The score in that footage was aces.

Yeah, that's the way it looks. Although if they're not throwing out zippy one-liners every five minutes, I'm sure some critics out there will accuse the movie of "taking itself too seriously."

And hopefully Zilla 2014 will be all the better for it.

Nobody can strike a balance anymore. Either the characters are too self aware or they have their heads too far up their asses and they're boring.
