Doesn’t Legendary's rights to Toho characters expire after this one? I might be wrong about that, but I thought I read it somewhere.

Heck who says Ghidora has to die in KOTM, could fly off into the stratosphere and find Gigan and then for KVG has Megalom show up on skull island or an island close by and have him be as tough as he was in the video games, you even have a rival group of natives who bring him out.

I didn't say anything about him dying, as I'd lose my shizniz if he got his own lineup of movies. Tough to say if I'd rather see Gigan, Destoroyah and MechaG fight Godzilla or him.

Someone tried his hand at extrapolating Kong's height from the B&W banner. I hope Kong is bigger than that.

They can always renew and it would be in Tohos best interest to do that. They could always open the doors to Monster Islands whole crew

I know that. Kong's height was in and around 100 ft during the events of Skull Island.

It's obvious that he'll grow much bigger but it remains to be seen just how big is he gonna be here. His height can't possibly be less than 250 ft otherwise the fight will look downright silly.

I agree and tough to follow as far as camera angles.

He's pretty clear that there will be a definitive winner, no room for interpenetration there.

Godzilla gets to beat King Ghidorah, then Kong gets to beat Godzilla. Fans are just gonna have to deal with it.

from an evolutions view why would Kong as an animal be so big? what would he eat? I can accept godzilla in a movie but kong who fights godzilla? the only reason Kong needs to be big is because the studio needs to compete with other studios with a connected universse. And since godzilla was already big they needed to make Kong bigger than in his stand alone movie. IMO it can not work in the movie.

Thats not what Legendary wants though. They have made mention quite a few times about creating a monsterverse. Think of it as saying the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Iron Mans franchise, it isnt of course but hes a core character and could even be called “the” core character. The nice thing about the stars of the monsterverse is they dont have contracts so if one is more popular than the other they can just go down that road with the movies.

A better question is why would the stick bugs be as big as they are. Kong has a food source on his own island in the form of the many giant things that exist there. Heck what was Ghidora eating before he got frozen. This was always a big question to avoid even in Tohos land. They once showed Rodan pick off a dolphin like it was a fish while he was on Monster Island. That is fine but my god how many dolphins would he need over even a week. Thats a tough question but atleast they showed him catching food to give us some idea. Kong being bigger is to put him in scale with the other gigantic stuff on the island, that evolutions way of making sense of things on Skull Island and the same could be said for dinos and the giant versions of animals we see today the food was bigger so the stuff eating it had to be bigger.

It is up to Toho. Remember, they are wanting to make movies again. As long as the next two films don't bomb, it sounds like Toho is willing to extend the deal. With different allowances for when they can make films.
