Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I don't mind Kong winning. I just hope Godzilla doesn't die in the process because
he's had like, what, about four or five near-death experiences in these movies? It would be overkill.

Man after KOTM Godzilla better win that fight. I have a hard time seeing Kong win, and I love King Kong as much as i love Godzilla.

Yeah Kong is great and I loved Skull Island but I don’t see how Kong even stands a chance.

I feel like they definitely teased a heel turn for Godzilla...

he and his kaiju gang heading to jump Kong in skull island if you read the end credits stuff.

There was a character that returned, aged up in KOTM that I hope returns in this. Not Charles Dance, sorry.

I do hope that Joe Morton returns as Houston Brooks.

One thing about that whole scene that confused me was when Zhang showed up. Apparently she was playing twins in the movie? Did they ever mention that? Because when I saw her, I was like, “When did she get there? I thought she was still on the Monarch ship.” And so I looked it up after the movie and it said she was playing twin sisters.

Yeah,

it’s a homage to the old Mothra lore. She showed a photo of her family going back three generations working at Monarch, they were all identical twins like the Mothra fairies from the Toho films.

I love how
they did the twins in this. Hoping to see more of them in the future (in case GvK isn't the end of the Monsterverse).

WHOA! I didn't even catch that.

Oh sweet! I forgot about that. Very cool how they found a way to work that in.

Maybe he’s going to have a bigger role in GvK? It would make sense since his character is tied to Kong’s past.

OK so Joe Morton was the dude from Skull Island 45 years later.

Why even do that though for just a throwaway character with like two lines?

Had he not been confirmed to star in GvK, I'd agree with you, but the movie already had too much going on as it is.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was shot in pick ups or something late into production right as the GvK stuff was coming together.

After seeing Godzilla 2...I really don't know how GvK will be scale wise. Like Godzilla was made so strong I don't know how Kong will hold his own. And I like Kong more than I like Godzilla.
I also don't know how they can keep the momentum going. Godzilla 2 had so many monsters that I think the idea of Godzilla vs King Kong isn't special. To me at least.

Yeah I didn't get that until I went on TVTropes. I was wondering if they'd do that with any of the Skull Island characters. Unfortunately they didn't make that more clear. Sure they said the character name, but I'm sure a majority of people didn't remember it.

Has he been confirmed? I don't see that anywhere

He's listed in the cast list for GvK, as far as I've seen.

And there's gonna be a lot more going on in GvK than just Kong and Godzilla duking it out. The plot synopsis (and KOTM to a lesser extent) confirms this.

Where? I don't see it on Wikipedia, IMDB, or anywhere that it was confirmed he was appearing. I'm not saying he's not. But I don't see it. I mean he should've been a main character in Godzilla 2 honestly. Like he could've replaced Brad Whitford.

And of course there will be other things going on, but the main draw is still the big monster fight. Same with Godzilla 2.
But look at the premise
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
That just sounds very similar to what we just got. Humans looking for answers, the world is overun by monsters, there's a group of people who want to kill the monsters, all set to the backdrop of big monsters fighting. That just sounds a lot like Godzilla 2 at least at it's barebones. So the released premise doesn't inspire much confidence to me
