Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I hope they brought Joe Morton back to reprise his role as the older version of Corey Hawkins's character from Skull Island just so there's some more connective tissue with the human characters from that movie. When I saw his cameo in KOTM I didn't know he was supposed to be the same character until I looked it up. For what it's worth, Skull Island had the best human characters in the Monsterverse by far. I'd also welcome octogenarian versions of Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson's characters just for kicks.

I completely missed that that was Houston Brooks. Should have had him on the big plane with the main characters instead of Bradley Whitford's character.

I just love what they are doing with the axe. What it is made of and its properties is an amazingly creative way to balance the scales. And then you add in making it essentially a family heirloom. Great thinking.

Though once again, RIP electric gorilla.

I didn't realize it until I read it on the KOTM Wikipedia page since it really wasn't all that obvious in the film since he's only in one scene. They name drop him but it's tough to remember the names of the human characters in these movies anyway. Surprised the hell out of me, and yes he definitely should have been with the rest of the main cast.

I don't even remember Joe Morton in KOTM. Where was he?

10 bucks says that Kong is attacked by Mechagodzilla the first time, which spawns this whole plot

Psst!
look again at 03 of the trailer

I think it may be MechaG on the boat fight also

Regarding Godzilla's heel turn:

If that's actually Mecha Godzilla in a skin suit the reveal will be absolutely bananas (no pun intended).

Yep. I also think the small Zilla is MechaG, and at some point the real G is going to show up and burn its flesh away revealing that its a mech.
If MechaZilla is disguised and wearing a skin suit, I'm going to be somewhat disappointed to be honest.

I want mecha to be fully mechanised. The idea that a mechanical construct of Zilla can be given a skin suit in this setting just seems unreal - and yes, I know, it's all fictional anyway, but every fictional film should have an element of credibility in it.

These films are set in the now. That means there's limits to what should be capable. A walking skyscraper with organic skin is not among them.

That trailer was dope... except for that atrocious song.

Godzilla shouldn't survive under its own weight either but here we are :o

This looks fun but man... I felt bad for Rebecca Hall delivering some of those schlocky lines. The dialogue in this is going to be so bad, lol.

I think we need to resign ourselves on expecting good dialogue/story. The goal of this thing is to be at least “Mortal Kombat ‘95 good.”

He started off that way in the original Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. He only showed the robot body after sustaining damage. I am betting same happens here.

Is it just me or is Godzilla smaller in this movie? I wonder if that is the same monster from the first two movies.

Looks in line with the last 2 which isn’t saying much. But definitely helps to have Kong in the title. It should give Max a boost for sure.

Kong wins if only so someone can actually call him King Kong.

Too bad they couldn’t have crossed over with Pacific Rim. Would have loved to have seen some Jaegers thrown into the mix.

She's no stranger to being wasted in roles (Iron Man 3, for example) but at least it looks like she at least has more to do here than Sally Hawkins did in two Godzilla movies. Talk about a waste of an Academy Award nominee.

The music in the trailer took me out of it. Probably not how I would've cut it but im hoping this is good.

I'm jealous of you all with open theaters in your area. I wouldn't go but it'd be nice to have that option, NYC isn't opening ours anytime soon.

It's been so long I forgot what overpriced popcorn and a Diet Coke smells like.

Is Alamo still letting you rent a theater out? I wonder if you could get a group of friends together to do this and ask they show this movie.

I don't know. I mean if I really was in the mood, I could go with my peeps to Jersey City to go catch a flick, but again I just wouldn't personally risk it. I'm not ready yet.

Now when Multiverse of Madness or Eternals drops, I just might try.
