Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I just spent the last 10 minutes tagging spoiler posts and spoilery questions. Had half a mind just to nuke the last couple pages entirely. Since we have so many new faces in here all of a sudden, I'll make the rules here clear: ANY SPOILERS OR REFERENCES TO SPOILERS MUST BE TAGGED.

Spoiler tags look like this: [ spoiler ] enter your text [/ spoiler] (remove spaces). Or in the text edit bar you can click the button that looks like a square with a "+" in it and select "spoiler." Either one works. But use one. Zero tolerance from here out.

And DO NOT ask people to post bootlegs or leaked photos/clips. Those are also not allowed on the Hype.

Can you pin this post to every page? I've seen some message boards do that. Every first post of the new page has the pinned message.

This is an example

We were able to do that on the old board, but we can't seem to do it on Xenforo. Or if we can, we don't know how, lol. But I can post it again!

As a newbie here....you are in no position to tell anyone to "go back" anywhere.

Not that it's an excuse, or your job to know, both they are both from Tohokingdom. That individual was spamming the thread over at tohokingdom and was frustrating a handful of people. It's not surprise to see that dynamic playout in a new forum.

Just some context.

Was there any clarification on the Antartica scenes with the helicopters carrying Kong? I think most assumed the dome was in Antartica, but the outside shot looked pretty stormy in the trailer so it was hard to pinpoint a location. If the Dome was on SI, makes you wonder how it was built with Kong and all the other creatures caring lol.

At this point, if I have already answered a question, I’m not going to answer it again. I’m happy to answer questions, but some of the newer posts are asking stuff that was answered three pages ago and it’s a bet overwhelming. Haha

Is Kong shown to be extremely dependent on his Axe when fighting Godzilla? Or does he inflict damage on his own too? Would you say Kong is physically stronger than Godzilla? Does he lift Godzilla of some sort to show how strong he is or it is all punches? Also it seems in the trailer his left shoulder can be seen being burnt up. I think he gets at least 1 hit by atomic breath in his shoulder?
@weezerspider

He fights him without the axe the first fight and loses, but it’s a solid fight. The HK fight he uses it a lot at first, but then Godzilla hits it away and it gets stuck in a building. He fights without it and loses again. So, yes, he puts up a fight, but he ultimately loses without it, both times. I do not think there is anything in the movie to indicate he’s stronger than Godzilla.

Hi Weeze, thanks for answering all these questions. I have two, firstly are the scenes of Godzilla wrecking the military and cities awesome and reminiscent of the old Toho Godzilla? Also, are you 100% happy with how Godzilla was treated in this film (ie will Godzilla fans be very happy?) thank you in advance.

The only military battles are the carrier and Kong is involved, so I don’t really think it reminded me of any of the classic films.I think the film did a great job of balancing both characters. It’s really Kong’s story and he has more screentime, but Godzilla steals the show every time he comes up. I’m team Godzilla and was pleased :)

What lore or history do they learn in the hollow earth?

Not much. They go and he finds the axe and his throne.

Who’re the human villains and what happens to them?

Its the same organization that stole the Ghidorah head in KOTM. The main villain is killed by MG.

I laughed at Godzilla and Kong doing cool ****. I never laughed at a joke. The human elements in the movie are not very good.

You keep reiterating that the human aspect isn't good, but I think that's something that each individual viewer should be able to decide for themselves. Many disliked the human characters in KOTM, but I found a few of them to be quite compelling and even the ones that weren't compelling were at least played by actors who are likable and charismatic. Since the two most compelling characters that survived the events of KOTM are returning for GvK, I think I'll enjoy the human aspect of the story if it focuses on them.

I am just giving you my opinion on the movie, lol. This is a weird thing to get mad about. I have never said everyone is going to agree with me.

Thanks for using spoiler tags. I'm gonna tag him just so he has a better chance at seeing your question. @weezerspider

I have a question. So does the atomic breath go like several hundred to a thousand feet below?

Yeah, it goes all the way to Hollow Earth. That’s how Kong and the humans gets to Hong Kong.

They are taking Kong to Antarctica on the carrier. Antarctica has caves that they believe Kong can lead them through to Hollow Earth. After Godzilla attacks and defeats them, they change their plan and have the helicopters take him there to avoid Godzilla.

Posters keep saying that the filmmakers mentioned a new ability of Godzilla. It’s one of two things:

I have seen every Godzilla film and never seen him fight on all fours. That’s how he defeats Kong and it’s awesome....or they are talking about him blowing a hole to the center of the earth. There’s nothing like the new ability shown in Shin Godzilla or anything like that.

@weezerspider Thanks a lot for your info mate. I just have one last question.

Does the narrative of the film go in a direction to clearly show that Kong is the one most likely to lose with Godzilla being superior ? In the trailer we hear "The myths are real... there was a war". Is it implied in the movie that both monsters have equal chance against one another and that in the past Kongs killed Godzillas and Godzillas killed Kongs or it more or less goes in a direction of stating that Kong is more or less very likely to loose?

I’ve been compiling these leaks so far on Reddit, and was wondering (if it’s not a bother) if you could clarify some things.

1. Is Kong actually almost lifeless after the aircraft carrier battle, or is he playing dead and the ships/characters pick up on this?

2. How much screentime would you say that the monsters have compared to the human characters? (And I mean any monster, Godzilla, Kong, or otherwise) (Also not asking for an exact screentime or anything, just along the lines of “a lot” or “a little”)

3. I see that you’ve said that the human elements in the movie were bad. I was curious if you could add to that a bit. Do you just mean Team Godzilla (the comedy relief) is bad, or do you mean the overall movie’s characters as a whole? I’m interested in a deeper explanation of this.

4 and Final. How is Ren Serizawa? I’m personally curious about the character and am interested how he was in the film. I’m assuming he’s the one who pilots MG but ends up being killed when MG goes rogue. (If you end up answering these, you can honestly combine this with number 3)

Thank you if you decide to answer any of these.

I thought Kong was going to win based on how the storyline is structured, so no. They do not really go in much detail about their shared history other than they are from Hollow Earth and were predators.

You said MG fights Godzilla and Kong after they are very weakened from fighting eachother. Would you say Mechagodzilla would beat both of them 1v1 and/or 2v1 if kong and Godzilla were fresh from the start. How well could he do against Ghidorah? And lastly, Godzilla is about 400ft in 2021, how much taller would you say MG is?

MG was bigger. I don’t know how much bigger. They both fought MG by themselves for awhile, so maybe they could beat him in another scenario. You’ve asked this before, so I’m trying to answer, but this is a weird question, in my opinion. They are fictional characters. All I have is what happened in the movie.

1. Kong is pretty beat. He’s not playing dead. The military plays dead.

2. Kong is in it a lot. There are not many scenes without any monsters because Team Kong is with Kong the whole time once the mission starts. This was definitely the most satisfying monster screen time ratio out of any of the movies. Godzilla is front and center of every set piece. He doesn’t have nearly as much screentime as Kong (and no screen time with Team Godzilla humans), but he steals the show in the set pieces. MG is in the climax.

3. If you liked the characters in the previous MonsterVerse movies, you’ll be fine. Personally, I find all of them to be pretty lackluster scripts. This one does a good job of making Kong the focus, so the weak human writing isn’t a big deal.

4. Ren is just a henchmen for the bad guy. He’s the pilot for MG but, again, MG gains a mind of his own, so Ren doesn’t even actually pilot him in the battle. His screentime is very minimal.

You mentioned godzilla knocks away kongs axe. How does godzilla knock away the axe and attack kong on all fours i’d appreciate if you can look at my question and give an answer.

Just giving a suggestion

Thanks for all this man. What exactly does Godzilla do on all fours if you can remember? Does he run on all fours? Or is just just on top of Kong? Does he do more than just scratch at his belly, or does he blast, bite and maul with his mouth too?

I'm picturing like a fat alligator [\SPOILER]

Does MG have lasers?

He shoots a laser like beam out of his mouth as his version of Atomic Breath.

Alligator is a good comparison. He gets on all fours and kind of slithers/charges around the buildings to Kong and tackles him down.

[SPOILER = "Spoiler"] [/ SPOILER]1 -
Mothra e Rodan aparecem ou pelo menos são mencionados?

2outros titãs aparecem? excluindo pequena terra oca, warbats e crânios crawlwrs

3- O godzilla ataca quantas cidades?

Weezers, what they're basically asking is:

1. Do Mothra and Rodan show up or are they at least mentioned?
2. Do other Titans appear? Excluding the Hollow Earth, Warbats and Skullcrawlers.
3. How many cities does Godzilla attack?

You mentioned that Kong knocks out Godzilla and seemingly wins, and then we cut away for a few minutes, and when we cut back, Godzilla has gotten back up and they’re going at it. To me it seems like they would show Godzilla getting up. Can you please elaborate on what happens here? Thank you in advance!

You-know-who looks creepy af in that shot. And Godzilla actually seems to be terrified there.

1. nope.
2. nope
3. Just two, unless they mention something happening off screen that I missed.
